Alter It South Yarra

$75 to take a hem up which came loose within 3 hours of wearing the dress. My shoes got caught on the loose tailoring/hem and I ended up tripping on the loose stitching and ripping it. Do not go here. Shocking tailoring.

I've had a number of items of clothing altered here, including jeans being shortened and dresses taken in or adjusted. The staff are lovely and very helpful, they're obviously very busy so if you're getting an alteration done I'd recommend getting it in at least two weeks before you need it to make sure they have time. It's a little on the more pricey side from my experience but given the location, quality and service I think it's absolutely worth it.

Alter It really stepped in and saved the day! Off the back of taking my skirt (silk ~$180) to another alterations business prior who left it an absolute mess, Alter It was able to fix all of the issues and turn it around extremely quick in time for my birthday event. Length and waist was altered perfectly on a tricky piece of clothing (asymmetric). Very thankful, highly recommend!

Inna and the team are lovely and provide consistent professional tailoring, with excellent results every time i've used them. I've had them adjust trousers for both length and adjusting fit (leg width, waist etc). Nothing to fault, and they always provide a consultative approach to their advice.

I do not recommend using Alter It South Yarra; they destroyed a $79.95 pair of jeans, plus the $20.00 paid for alterations.

I had a pair of jeans shortened, which you’d expect to be a reasonably simple job.

Unfortunately, the alterations performed made the jeans unwearable - the leg lengths are completely different, the hemming is crooked and the hems / ankles are chunky.

Didn’t end up using the service because the prices were well above other tailors in the area

Conveniently I was able to shorten the length of my chinos in less then 30 minutes on a Sunday just before close of business. They did a great job and provided excellent customer service

The team did an incredible job repairing a hole in a north face jacket. It was a complicated process where she had to cut out an inner zipper panel and patch it on the sleeve, and you can barely tell that any repair has been made. It is as good as new. I can’t recommend her highly enough. Thank you!

Alter it fixed my soft toy dog’s nose perfectly for $45. See before and after pics. I know now that I can trust them - great communication, kind and warm service and perfect workmanship!

I took a jacket of mine in that was gifted to me but never fit right - a shame because I really liked the colour and material. With some help from this wonderful business, my jacket was transformed from boxy and ill-fitting to tapered and absolutely perfect for my shape. It's clear someone put lots of time, care and skill into the job. I can't wait to keep wearing it for years to come and whole heartedly recommend that if you need alterations done right and at a great price, you take it here. Thanks!

I visited Alter It South Yarra in a bit of a pickle with a formal wear gown needing to be taken in around the waist and replace some missing buttons for an event less than half a week away. I was greeted and looked after by the staff with such care and professionalism upon arrival and was reassured that they could bring the waist in and fix the buttons etc.with no issue in the time frame. I just picked up my garment today, I'm so impressed and have to say thank you to the incredibly talented and caring staff. Fantastic turn around time. Really great pricing for such professional and impeccable work. I'm also still so impressed at how you magically matched the buttons perfectly! I will be coming back!

Attended this store to make alteration to two shirts (just shorten the length) - I tried on the shirts and it was pinned by tailor. It was relatively more expensive than all other alterations I had used before, but I was happy to pay more as shirts were a bit pricey and didn't want to risk it.

I tried the shirts 7 days later and looked to be not as short as I wanted it to be and had to take shirts back to them to cut the length about 15mm more while making sure the style of the shirt doesn't change. I specifically asked them to not cut more than 15mm and keep the curve style of the shirt while shortening. As usual, they impatiently confirmed that they understood the change. Once I tried the shirts after alteration, they were cut extremely shorter than agreed. No curves and front and back of the shirt looked totally different and unbalanced. It was a $266 loss experience and they were not even sorry for that. I took the shirts to a different alteration, and was told: "can't fix it - whoever has done this, has no experience and should close the business". They don't accept responsibility of their work and turn the blame back on you! Don't use them.

The best alterations place! The team is so lovely and they do an incredible job. Wouldn't go anywhere else:)
