Alliance Française Melbourne CBD reviews
16I am currently enrolled in my third advanced level online class taught by a highly gifted, skilled and committed teacher. I recommend the Alliance Française Melbourne without hesitation to all learners of French language and culture.
'A great teacher inspires her students'. My fellow students and I have learnt much in a fun but disciplined environment. Kim is an exceptional teacher. Merci beaucoup!
Very recently I became interested in learning French and decided to enrol myself at Alliance Française because I’d heard good things about the school. I signed up to Level Beginner 1.1 Express which is a 5 week intensive course every Saturday for 4 hours. I am honestly so surprised at how much I learnt throughout the 5 weeks. My teacher Antonie structured the class excellently and was very patient when we struggled with things. I’ve signed up for the next level because I enjoyed the classes so much.
I definitely recommend this school for anyone wanting to start their French language learning journey. The express classes are great if you want to learn the language quickly. However if you sign up to these classes you have to be prepared to do a lot of study outside the class to keep up every week!
I recently completed the 5-week express French language basic course at Alliance Française Melbourne CBD, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. Our instructor, Antoine, played a crucial role in making this course so enjoyable and beneficial.
Antoine's teaching style was excellent. He was not only knowledgeable but also very engaging and patient with all of us. Learning a new language can be intimidating, but Antoine's approach made it accessible and fun. He ensured that we had a solid foundation in French grammar and vocabulary, and he was always available to answer our questions and provide clarification when needed.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the course was how much progress I made in just five weeks. My French writing and conversational skills improved considerably, thanks to Antoine's guidance and the immersive environment provided by Alliance Française. The emphasis on practical communication skills was particularly valuable, as it allowed me to start using French in real-life situations with confidence.
The facilities at Alliance Française Melbourne CBD were basic but the staff members were always helpful and supportive, creating a welcoming atmosphere for students.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Alliance Française Melbourne CBD for anyone interested in learning French. The 5-week express course was a remarkable experience, and I feel confident in my ability to continue improving my French language skills further. Tres bien!
I have been studying at Alliance Francaise since 2015 and really love my classes here. The teachers are friendly, the classes are creative, and most students are friendly and keen to learn. Would recommend to anyone who is keen to start learning French formally for the first time (or again).
Waste of money…. Very hard to communicate with, very rude sometimes in dealing with my questions. Don’t deal with them.
Great place to learn French: good teachers, interesting programs. But! The receptionist is amazingly unprofessional, i.e. Has very poor communication skills, does not listen, projects the "I don't care" attitude and can easily hang up on you. Disappointing!
Pretty good french classes. Provides a structure to guide self learning, which is good. The textbooks seem pretty handy and there’s lots of tips and other things around the alliance francaise ecosystem that can assist with french learning.
I decided to give a go at French this year as I will be travelling later on. I am not great with languages but my experience has been terrific. I am enjoying my classes a lot, I have met great people in class, the teacher is really engaging, loving it. Looking forward to practice my “Bonjour, comment ça va” in July!
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! You may learn french with them but at what cost? If you want a reliable, organised and well managed institution, DO NOT enrol with Alliance Francaise.
I did A1.1 in online intensive mode, and I'm currently -against my will- enrolled in A1.2 because they do not have a refund policy, so once you enrol there is no way back. I tried to cancel my enrolment even before my course started but their policy only accepts cancellations 5 days before the start date, so if for whatever reason you cannot continue, you basically have no alternative or support from them, not even partial refund. YOU'RE STUCK WITH THEM or LOSE your money.
In my case, the reason I wanted to cancel my enrolment was because they are unreliable. They arbitrarily decided to change an in-person class to online mode (arguing that it was for the "safety of staff and students" when in reality the official lockdown was planned to start the day AFTER my class). I have no problem with the online classes, BUT they changed the rules and mode for that particular class WITH 2 HRS NOTICE. That is an absolutely DISRESPECT for people's time and organisation. If I was scheduled for an in-person class, they don't know what arrangements I had to do to make that happen, or if I'll be able to take it online with such a short notice. They only look after their own interest.
VERY DISAPPOINTING. The fact that I enrolled to two levels, one right after the other, should have shown them I had a great interest in learning french, and therefore they could have done more to offer me an alternative as a way of retaining a customer, but they just don't know how to provide a quality customer service. A happy potential returning customer is worth much more than an UPSET lost customer. That's business 101, they are just immature in their ways to manage their business.
Absolutely cannot speak highly enough about this school! Amazing teachers and staff. They are so attentive to every aspect of your learning. I have my favourite teachers, eg. Ophélie. However a shining star is Imogen! She's gone above and beyond in making sure that I am satisfied with my learning experience. Highly professional, very friendly and helpful and she deserves a round of applause. Start your française experience asap!
Great French learning experiences from Basic A1.2 to Intermediate A2 levels. Native French teachers are mostly personable, approachable, professional and full of helpful tips. Receptionist is often very helpful with your enquiries. This venue is small with only 4 classrooms but not claustrophobic for class size of under 15. Very centrally located for any post-class activity (shopping, theatre, events). Windows in classrooms afford great views of city events from great vantage points such AFL grand final parades, ANZAC Day processions, etc.
This is a great place to learn French. All the teachers are native French and qualified in teaching French as a foreign language, they are not amateur backpackers like in other schools, it makes a huge difference. Besides it's actually cheaper to learn French at Alliance than in many other schools in Melbourne. Oh and can I mention the view students enjoy from the classrooms in the CBD building? It's wonderful! Keep the hard work Alliance team, you're doing good!
Alliance Francaise is the best place to learn french. The teachers are fabulous, the lesson plans well formed and organised, timings and locations to suit everyone's varied needs! Their library resources are vast and administration is superb! Any requests or issues are efficiently and effectively dealt with. I am having an amazing experience here learning my favourite language!
Would not recommend! Completed A1.1-2.2 here. It’s your average school with good courses on offer. Teachers vary greatly in style and quality while the staff in general, are not overly helpful. They make it difficult to organise make up classes when students are sick which is seemingly designed to force repeat enrolments or make students take private tuition. Massive cash grab and not the “community” they attempt to present themselves as.
