This is a good one, free outdoor swimming pool with changing facilities and couple of electric bbq. Small lake, slides for kids to play with many other options. There is a prison next to it, so don’t forget to walk up. Dedicated fern park, which needs more maintenance but still a pleasant experience.

Great place to stroll around the lake and view the water birds and breathe in the fresh air. Gardens and pathways are well kept.great to keep under the tree canopy on a hot day, or out in the sunshine when the temps are cooler. Very relaxing and plenty of placed to just sit and take in the views. Enjoyed by our fur babies too.plenty of dogs taken on walks with a variety of posts with 'disposable bags' for cleanup of your animals poop. Definitely worth a visit.

I found a very pretty fern grotto just across from the Old Ararat Gaol. Well worth a visit.

Alexandra Gardens is a spectacular park in Ararat, Victoria with a lot to offer. An incredible multi level walk-in fernery slopes down toward the terraced lawns and ornamental lake. An 800m pram/wheelchair-friendly walking track makes its way around the lake, across pretty bridges and through the Japanese themed islands. Close to the fernery lies a fantastic playground with lots of unique play equipment, toddler play space and shade sails.

Alexandra Gardens are worth visiting for the walk-in fernery alone. Sealed, narrow walking tracks wind their way through the beautiful ferns, vines, stones and water features. There are many different tracks, turns, steps and corridors to explore within a fairly compact area. See if you can find the stone-lined cave hidden amongst the impressive array of plants. This fernery will make you feel as though you have stepped right into a rainforest, and is a credit to the town of Ararat.

One of our favourite highway stops. A beautiful park in the warmer months, little bit too muddy on the paths and playgrounds in winter. Just a little bit of maintenance required at times.

Great place to have a coffee and watch the swans and ducks while the kids play in the enclosed playground. A dog park is available accross the road.

A great place to relax or meet friends. Beautiful sights along the way, either you walk a jog, jog yourself or watch people with a coffee.

After I did the tour at J Ward across the road (which was brilliant by the way) I brought my picnic lunch here and sat at the tables and watched the ducks and swan mum and dad with their 6 babies. There is a cafe to get lunch, coffee and ice cream and good clean toilets. Shame some of the garden has fallen into disrepair but it is still lovely to have lunch and go for a walk on the well maintained sealed pathway. My visit tired in perfectly with the Gaol visit and having lunch in the gardens was an added bonus

The gardens is overall a good place to go I guess. But over the years it has really gone downhill a bit. It used to be so beautiful and people would get married there all the time not so much now.

Overall really beautiful place to visit.alongside the railway tracks and central spot in Ararat. Lots of waterbirds and the odd turtle spotted.possums at nightime. Lovely spot for a picnic with The old Gaol J-Ward behind this park. Little Chinese style garden and bridge with plenty of seating/picnic tables around the gardens. Botanic rainforest under works has been in disrepair for some time now only downfall.
Toilets and baby changeroom kept clean and secure. Nice walk around the lake 8-10 mins walk
