Alexandra Gardens reviews
14One of the best gardens in Melbourne. It's a two minute walk from the Flinders Street station and right across Arts Centre. The gardens are spread out enough that the noise from the busy St Kilda Road traffic is absorbed by the greenery all around. It's one of those places where you can spend the whole day walking around, lying on the grass, walking more along the Yarra river, and maybe catch a evening concert at the Arts Centre, or even watch a cellist play Bach on the other side of the road. I'd definitely go again. And again.:)
Pretty part of the gardens in this area. Well maintained, overlooking the river towards Federation Square.
Because it is located right in the city and its proximity from the Flinders Street Station makes it a nice place to hangout.
It was a sun shiny day.
Boats were rowing
Skaters Skating.
People laughing.
Miydy fine!
Alexandra Gardens, Melbourne. These gardens run along the south bank of the Yarra River. They were developed in 1904. They connect you with King's Domain and the Royal Botanic Gardens. IYou are also connected with The Tan - a popular exercise track.
There are 2 paths one along the river and one further inland. You can walk along the path and watch the rowers come out of the historic rowing boat houses and row off along the river. There are plenty pf benches to sit on along the way and you can even see the Two Headed Angel sculpture on the other side of Birrarung Marr.
Most the pathways here are lined with palm trees and are a favourite spot for people to sit and watch Moomba water activities and have picnics in the warmer months [obviously pre-post current restrictions].
The stairs leading to the gardens are not steep and can be navigated with ease. There are also shared pedestrian / bike paths so that if you have mobility issues you can enter the gardens this way too. The paths themselves are mostly flat and nice for a stroll or exercise.
You can also get a nice side view of the city and a long view of the Yarra River both ways from this area. Get along to these gardens for exercise or a stroll with the allowed number of friends / family and remember to social distance.
Great little spot to relax just on the outskirts of Melbourne CBD. This spot often hosts events (many of which are free), with a lot of attractions such as bars, museum, art centre, restaurants, cafes, Federation Square & more
Possibly has the best views of any park in Melbourne. You have the Yarra river and the skyline of the city, while on the other side you can see a bit of the sports precinct with the MCG dominating the backdrop. It’s a pretty small garden, and lacks some of the facilities you get at other parks, like benches, drinking water, toilets, playground for kids. But with a stunning view like this, it’s hard to beat this spot.
Nice gardens. I would have given 5 stars but my dog swallowed a used nang charger and couldn't pass it. He had to get dog surgery.
A fairly big grassy garden area by the river on Southbank. It is accessible from Princes Bridge. The rowing club is also around here. There didn't seem to be much shade here though.
It is a fantastic spot. Been there a few times for Gay Midsumma Festival Carnival where there can be a HUGE crowd. The sort of place you hope you don't trample too much while you are there collectively. Nice CBD views, the Yarra close by - short walk from the CBD station. Awesome. Heaps of room. Would be a great place for major music gigs if you could minimise the damage. Really very appealing
It was ok, thought Melbourne botanic gardens would be spectacular. Government house took up 1/2 of park and makes filthy
Love this spot to make photos to my clients... It is so green and perfect. I also love sitting by the side of Yarra River. Lovely!
Stunning beautiful landscape design!
We spent such a cozy pleasant afternoon here yesterday.
It is really a good quiet place that gives you a break from the noisy city during the holiday.
Great skate park for me and my kids. Beautiful green parklands with the city skyline across the river
