Albert Park Driving Range reviews
47Love it here, I'm a member and a regular here most days except for when I'm actually playing golf!
I like hitting balls, especially when they're attached to people (rip Asher). The screens make driving a fun experience when the distance number goes up.
It was a really pleasant place to practice golf. But I gave 4 stars because there were some idiots hitting a ball like baseball, and it even got close to me.
Excellent golf instructors, very convenient venue, friendly staff.
Sep 2023 update.
Wow! This is now the best golfing venue in town! The new building is amazing, especially the roof top bar. The whiz bang system to aid your golf they have is so good! Can't wait to try out the mini golf.
The staff they have are so friendly and helpful. Michael, David, Kara and the rest of the team. If you have young ones, then why not sign the up with coach Jamie McCallum? He is so good with teaching juniors and kids
Great facilities that are being redone
Expensive to park
Balls could be replaced. Many were old and I'm blaming them for my short hitting
Trackman technology is good, but not enough to make up for the overly worn balls and mat. Payment is also required for off-street parking.
First time and not the last time! Cheap fun and boy old boy, the sweet sound of a good hit. There's little games you can play on the range and a bulls eye target were 100 balls go really fast. I had 300 balls between 2 or us and spent a good 2 hours. I'm not a golfer and just loved to swing, so I'm sure someone with more skill would take more time making a shot. Staff were friendly too and didn't mind with a few helpful tips.
Closest to the city and usually packed on nights and weekends. Note: Prices a bit on the higher end and the area near the driving range is currently under construction.
Good short game practice area and practice bunker and decent mats to hit off, but I wish they were replaced more often, many are pretty worn-out and hard.
Been playing at Albert park driving range for a while parking were never an issue although sometimes it might get busy and have to wait for a bit. But today were pretty upsetting, the parking were full when we arrived but since we were the only car waiting, we decided to wait for a parking, after waited for around 10 minutes, a car came and drove ahead of us and stopped at the entrance of the driving range, when he saw someone leaving, he immediately reversed the car n parked the spot.what happened to parking etiquette? He knew we were first waiting for car park n when my boyfriend tried to tell him he was inconsiderate, that driver told us he was pretty happy about that, n if my boyfriend is sad over it, he got a box of tissue in the car! Really disappointing day. Maybe a sign about parking rules can help avoid same problem from happening again.
Trying to fix your slice - this is a good place to go. Parking is circa $5 each time so sometimes better to get a scooter or walk?
Wonderful staff really improved my experience
Take note though, parking inspectors can be brutal so don't forget to get a ticket
Don't come here! Place is NOT SAFE. Was hit in the head from a rogue golf ball from a group next to me while it was not their fault, the driving range could've easily had mesh between each cubicle preventing the incident. I left the venue with no refund after talking with staff, a migraine & a welt on my head!
Don't go here safety is NOT a PRIORITY!
I was looking forward to coming here, but it was unfortunately the worst range I've been to in Melbourne so far.
The hitting mats look like they are well overdue to be replaced, there is no floodlighting at dusk which makes your shots impossible to see (8: 30pm on a summers' night - may have just been the day I went though in that the lights weren't on), the top level is very exposed and lastly, pricey at $22 for 100 balls.
Definitely make the 30min drive to MGA / Aces instead.
Absolute fun for all ages. Very well maintained range, the staff is helpful and it's much cheaper than some other golf ranges close to the CBD. For a couple, I would recommend taking 100 balls and splitting 50 each if you are a first timer. You can rent clubs too if you don't have your own. Oh and the ceiling makes it weather-proof too. So, you can enjoy it on a rainy day as well.
Cool place. It's twice the price of my local range (which is $11 for 100 balls), and you also have to pay for parking, but it has a professional feel to it and is worth the extra money if you want a nicer experience, or you simply want to take advantage of their later opening hours. The pro shop also has some good gear and even serves beer. Cheers
Three of us came to Albert Park Driving Range to hit some golf balls. We are all very inexperienced, in fact have never done this kind of thing before. But we had such a fun time with the iron clubs and driver. 50 balls was adequate, and we spent about 1.5 hours laughing over our interesting attempts at hitting the ball.
Great facility right in the heart of Melbourne.short game area is well maintained, more than enough bays to hit from. Top class.
My only gripe would be the beer selection. It's 2021 and we have some amazing local breweries in Melbourne -> why is the selection a series of lagers? The place would benefit from some choice - maybe a pale ale? A porter perhaps for those chilly winter evenings smashing balls?
Great fun. Good facility’s and availability. Parking not the best, but that’s just Albert park for you.
Very busy, probably due to school holidays. Decent rates, parking is close by at 5$ for 2 hours
