Advance Healthcare St Albans

Pain management after car accident helped me to improve and make some real progress. Unfortunately though, as I did weights that were too heavy (not for my muscles but for my nerves), despite my better judgement I listened and did them and now I'm looking down the barrel of surgery and suffering daily with pains on my left side as well. I guess I will have to suffer for a long time before I can get carpal tunnel surgery which makes me feel furious and reduces me to a silent statistic.
The risks they took with someone who has to do everything for a disabled adult, showering, cooking, driving, etc, may have been worth it for them but it wasn't for me. Ultimately it's me and my son that has to suffer.
I thought this program was much better than weekly rushed physio appointments that overall were not helping enough to make progress until it caused me more harm and suffering. If I'd just stuck to 3kg weights this wouldn't be happening now as I didn't feel any strain until doing 4kg which I knew wasn't safe to do but I was asked to do it and gradually increase the reps. It was fine for my muscles but not for my nerves. I was furious towards the end of the program when 5kg progress was written on my exercise sheet and it felt like they thought I was He-Man. It's ironic the care that's taken with light weights which increase by half a kilo but when the weights start getting heavy I had to go up a whole kilogram at once.
I'd had carpal tunnel and my tendon barely hanging together on my right arm. I might have developed carpal tunnel on the left side gradually over years like I did on the right side, instead of all at once and it's just another huge thing to deal with and hinder me right now which I didn't need. It's my whole arm that is affected and not just my hand and fingers. It's another huge problem for me to negotiate and I just have to sit around wondering what the hell is going on. It seems to never end.

I have completed a pain management course at Advanced Healthcare st Albans.
The team at Advance Healthcare support each person on their individual needs with services like, group sessions that informed you of how pain can affect all aspects of your life, and strategies to help deal with the pain management.
One on One physiotherapist guided sessions that helped me gradually increase my day to day activities and quality of life.
One on One Psychology session with supportive and compassionate professionals who help with all the aspects of life that are affected by dealing with pain.
I highly recommend anyone who has been recovering from a Long term injury or chronic pain to give this course a try.
The friendly and understanding staff have helped me to reach goals I would never have completed without their help and guidance.

It is not a understatement to say it has been life changing.

My experience with Advance Healthcare at St Albans has been very rewarding for me, the staff have been most helpful.taking time to listen to my concerns and really gave their all to help with my recovery. They really are a great group of professional’s. I would highly recommend them.of course you have to also be a willing party, and do the work. I’m in a much better place than I was almost two years ago. They worked with me for 3 months. And still receiving care after the 3 months just to make sure everything is still on track. So I’m very grateful, Thank you to all the staff. (My injuries was a car accident).

I was able to attend the Pain Management Program ran by Advanced Healthcare in St Albans with an open mind. I had hesitations about a few things, but once I was there and committed to the coarse I found that the Staff were extremely patient and understanding of both my injuries and also the physiological issues that I was dealing with. With the help of Kirsten, Adam, Joon, Tess and Slade I felt comfortable with the fact that I was getting some great help and heading in a positive direction. I understood form the start that I wasn’t going to be free of pain, but once I got through to the end I knew that I was equiped was a wealth of knowledge to be able to deal with my pain moving forward.
Thanks to Kirsten, Adam, Joon, Tess Slade and your entire teal at Advanced Healthcare, I feel a lot more positive moving forward.

All staff are at all times very professional and very knowledgeable in their respective fields. As someone who was highly functional but experienced ongoing pain from a 4 year old injury I had no idea what to expect from the program. What I left with after 3 months at this clinic was the tools (learnings) on how to best manage my injury and significant improvement to my quality of life, from much improved sleep, to being able to tolerate my busy day to day activity without being in pain by the end of the day.
I cannot recommend Dejan and the team highly enough.

Extremely friendly and professional staff right throughout the clinic from receptionist, doctors, psychiatrist and Physios who all work towards the goal of reducing your pain. So grateful to Dr Malcolm and my physio Dejanwho treated me with my constant pain in multiple area injuries and also gave me some good strengthening exercises to do at home for aftercare. Because of you guys I have come a long way and summer is looking good this year Thank you

The pain management program for my lower back injury has absolutely saved my life!
Exactly what I needed to pick myself up and get back on track. Exceeded my expectations beyond what I thought was possible and with NO surgery!
I can’t recommend the team at St. Albans high enough. If you get the privilege of participating in their pain management program make the most of it because they know exactly what they’re doing. It all comes down to what you put into practice.

Never thought that my chronic lower back pain could get any better until the universe sent my physiotherapist, Dejan, to me. He's professional and patient. The staff at reception is always friendly and helpful too. Strongly recommend this clinic to everyone.

I messed up my back as my ‘stay at home’ hours were extended.

I had a lot of info to five.
Dejan listened to it carefully and handled me patiently and professionally.
Suggested me some stretches and provided with necessary equipment.

Honestly Dr Ong is amazing. A little eccentric, but a phenomenal doctor that specializes in pain management.
I underwent the program where I saw him, physios that focus on rehabilitation and a psychologist to help you sort out the mental difficulties of dealing with long term chronic pain. They were absolutely amazing and the idea to have all three under the same roof is great.
The waits could be a bit long, but all the staff were really knowledgeable and I've come leaps and bounds physically and mentally.
I highly recommend seeing them if you're struggling with a long term pain condition.
