AC Hotel by Marriott Melbourne Southbank

These people cannot be best. They do perfectly support the “vibe” of the AC brand of Marriott through every aspect of the property. Great rooms, great food, great drinks and gym.

Great hotel just down from the heart of southbank. Easy access to DFO and a short hop to crown complex. Delightful staff who will bend over backwards to assist even when it is flat out

Worst Experience! Booked and confirmed the booking and when arrived to hotel at 1 am in midnight directly from airport after landing, they say no room is available for checking in. They said it was confirmed by central management but we do not have rooms available today. Had to go out at 2 AM midnight from hotel with no place to go.

As my stay here nears its end, I thought it time to write a review.

When you first pull up, remember, don’t judge a book by its cover. Inside, you will find the best AC hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I chose this hotel due to its location, a 10-minute walk to the convention center (MCEC). Some reviews I’ve now read complain there is nothing around. There is a lot of retail withing a 15-minute walk.

I’ll start with the staff who run the reception desk. To a person, they’ve been friendly and competent. Every interaction has been fantastic. All my requests were well handled – my wife joining me later, housekeeping, etc.

As I’m here on business, I haven’t used the gym or pool, but it is nice to know they are there. I have eaten in the restaurant multiple times. While a larger selection would be nice, every meal has been great. They have great selection of local beers and a few ciders (I’ve earned my Down Under badge in Untapped). There is also a full bar. I’ve found everything reasonably priced.

Lastly, the Wi-Fi is excellent. Very important to me as I’m here on business.

If you have an event at the MCEC, you couldn’t choose a better place to stay.

PS there is a Pokémon Go stop that I could reach from my room!

The AC Hotel has a beautiful, clean and modern atmosphere and professional staff. Harry and Liberty welcomed us with open arms along with a complimentary bottle of champagne. They took care of us above and beyond what we could have imagined, meeting every need. Amongst all the amenities provided, beds made, fresh bottles of water and our personal belongings untouched made our stay carefree.
Not to mention the great value in price which is perfect for a weekend getaway. Thank you AC hotel by Marriott!

City views are amazing from the room.the lobby at 7th floor gives a great view of the city too (smart move) daily gin happy hour at 6pm.and you have occasional complimentary cocktails + canapes daytime. Gym view is great too.

Breakfast is great spread. Loved every moment here.new and swanky.

My partner and i are staying at the ac hotel tonight for valentine’s day and the effort fedelia and harry put into it to make it such a special day was amazing.we walked into our room with a bottle of champagne, some chocolates, a cute little welcome note and a “happy valentine’s day” note written on the mirror.i am mind blown and so grateful for the amount of effort they put in to make us feel so welcome and comfortable and to make our night so special.i couldn’t recommend a better hotel!
will be staying here again without a doubt!

The hotel was clean & it is in a great location, however I have to give it 1 star because my Birkenstock sandals somehow were not found in the room. Yes, my fault for leaving them in the room (I was not feeling 100% myself when I packed) but mistakes happen and upon immediate recognition that I left them, I called the hotel. They said the room had not been cleaned yet and they would call back. I received no call back and had to annoyingly continue to call a few times. Staff said nothing had been reported. I asked to escalate to the manager & they said a manager would call back. No one called back, which left me disappointed. Finally I received an email from the house keeping manager, simply stating nothing was found, which is super disappointing since I know they were left in the room. I can only assume that a staff member has been dishonest. Friends/family of mine have accidentally left items in Marriott hotels in the past & the experience has been that the staff very kindly saved the items in a lost and found & then would even accommodate the items to be shipped. For the amount you pay a night for these hotels, you would think that would always be the case. Sadly, not with this hotel. It’s unfortunate because this left a frustrating memory of my Melbourne experience.

I was really impressed with this hotel. The service was excellent, the room on the 19th floor was lovely and the views of the city are great. It is just 2 tram stops out of the city so everything is close by. I would definitely go back!

GENERAL MANAGER absolutely a joke to this hotel. With his behaviour no wonder the hotel staff are as poorly trained in customer service as he is!

Extremely DISAPPOINTED!

Upon arrival went to park at the Care carpark drove in to find four vehicles with smashed windows so decided would not be parking there. Proceeded back to hotel and requested to park car there, valet is only valet if you don't have to park the car yourself as no one knows how to drive a manual on a busy Saturday night of checkins.
Having then had my wife sitting upstairs for 25 minutes whilst I'd parked the car etc I proceeded to checkin where the checkin process is the worst I've ever encountered. Wouldn't allow my wife to check in although had ID + card in my name, waiting 45 minutes to check in is beyond ridiculous and just really disappointing considering we had planned our afternoon before heading out.
Checkin process is far too long and not necessary when it's busy and people just want to enjoy their retreat rather than be given the whole spiel.
Having made it to the room the floor in the bathroom was dirty with what looked to be housekeeping footprints where they may have cleaned the floor but not dry. A pair of someone's undies found out the front of the room was rather unpleasant unsure if housekeeping was going to collect or not. Pubic hairs found in the inside of the toilet, nothing a flush couldn't fix but seriously just disgusting.
Pool is overcrowded, size is misleading and just full of screaming obnoxious individuals clearly getting drunk in the pool. Guests with dogs rude and inconsiderate, carry your dogs rather then scaring kids!
No parking out the front to unload luggage as guests think when a bay is marked AC Hotels they have a right to park there for as long as they like.
Breakfast is a sham, arrive for breakfast get told "go find your own table" if you can't find one then we are full. Upon finding a dirty table we sat waiting for the staff to clean which took over 5-7 minutes for someone to even realise we were of existence and the mess wasn't ours. Requested coffees with the waitress who knew nothing at all and thought I was speaking foreign when requesting a large and small cappuccino along with two baby chinos. Had no idea of what alternative milk was or if they had then handed me the pad and told me to write what I wanted. No options for Gluten Free bread until you hail down a staff member who is frantically running around, wait in excess of 15 minutes for two slices of rock hard bread which couldn't even be saved with lashings of butter.

The king suite is absolutely amazing. The view is perfect. The room is clean with a free standing bath (I adore) and has a Dyson hair dryer and straightener!
The staff member who checked us in was lovely and offered a lovely welcome drink and wine. We then heard about a free gin tasting every night and I'm honestly mad we aren't staying longer!

Very welcoming hotel. The staff are excellent, friendly and very very good at what they do. It was during AO Tennis that were stayed. Trams are so close to the hotel, giving immediate access to Melbourne. Mimosas at breakfast and gin cart at 6pm, fantastic. You can't go wrong if you need a great location and AC Marriott made a good holiday into a great holiday.

My friend and I stayed at the AC hotel by Marriott over the weekend for her birthday. We were so taken back by the service, it was wonderful. We were instantly greeted and received complimentary champagne and cocktails upon arrival. We received 2 boxes of complimentary chocolates and 2 bottles of wine. The moment you walk into the checking area on level 7, you are instantly filled with a relaxing ambience with soft music in the background. It was a wonderful stay. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and very helpful. The only thing that was a bit of an issue was the parking out the front, but they also have valet parking, which is at a reasonable price, so its worth it. The rooms were immaculate and very modern. The bed was very comfortable and we had a really beautiful view from our window. I will definitely be back again in the near future.

Checked in to this property to spend a day by the pool.
- the pool is 1/10th the size of what you see in the picture. It is not what is marketed. The pool is supposed to be heated but the heater is broken down, water is ice cold. There isn’t any moving space around the pool to even sit by to chill.
- there are no other ‘staycation’ like areas to the hotel.
The room is nothing like the photo. It does have a city view though.
Waste of money to sit in a room, could have done it at home.

Update- the hotel manager had made immediate contact and worked out a fair and reasonable outcome.

I stay here every weekend and honestly, me and my partner have been to a lot of nice apartments in Melbourne, however no hotels compare to the service and luxury involved in staying here. The staff are incredible. Especially the Manager Hement. If you are here, ask for his help, he is absolutely incredible and always helps us with whatever we want and accommodates to all our requests. I hope the people at Marriott AC understand how amazing it is to be treated by staff in such a incredible manner. I feel like I’m in Dubai again with how the staff are here and the rooms and services are amazing. Again thank you to Hement for helping us with everything and solving any concerns we have and over the past months. Much love to you all from us.

Very nice, new, modern AC Marriott with an amazing infinity edge pool with a glass front overlooking the Melbourne City skyline. And Gin tastings every day at 6pm!

This rooftop is a beautiful perspective of what this could be. The games owners corporations and holding groups and high skilled growth hackers are underwhelming and old hat to say the least. But hey if you like it I love it.
