Yarns Artwork in Silk Deloraine reviews
24Great history with massive tapestry. Museum section one of the best I have seen in a country tiwn.
Well worth a visit. Could have spent hours here looking at the 4 magnificent works of art. The detail in each was amazing. A credit to all involved in the making.
Absolutely amazing. Countless hours of work by hundreds of artists all collaborating together to create stunning images in silk and various materials highlighting the unique qualities of their town. Well worth the visit.
Very worthwhile visit if travelling through town. The silk presentation is superb and the museum of life in the past is quite comprehensive and a great extra. Either one is worth it on its own. But getting both together
Impressive.creative.more than a yarn?
Amazing details and worth every minute to view and admire
Great display of history. The ladies running it were very helpful and friendly. The silk artwork was an incredible result of community pride and cooperation.
Everyone is required to view this incredible exhibition.ho admire the creative process ️?
This exhibition was brilliant, a short story about the history of these works and then time to check the panels close up. There are four panels, four seasons, and the work is very detailed
Fabulous place for a diversion for the kids, educational about how people used to live and the tools/equipment they used. The silk mural is exceptional- simply an exquisite work of art and wonderful collaboration. Very friendly staff who are also helpful and knowledgeable. An enjoyable family experience. Nice to be able to have a cup of tea (or other caffeine hit) at their inside Driver Reviver, with pretty views of Deloraine surrounds.
The history of this beautiful town is clearly spelled out in the Mural, the presentation is great.
Well worth a visit, great silk mural depicting Deloraine, exquisite needlework.
Loved the museum & outside displays of old buildings & farm machinery!
One of the best Information centres in Tasmania.
You read the reviews and you talk to people and they all say how wonderful these silks are and they are absolutely right. I was doubtful. Don't miss it. A must when in Deloraine.
Housed within the Deloraine Tourist Information Centre, the "Yarns Artwork" was a surprisingly interesting exhibit in a professional, theatre-like facility. I wasn't initially keen on having a look but still found it worthwhile and a great community effort in getting it all together. Basically, it's a tapestry depicting history and life in the town but deserves closer examination because of the detail included. After the 15-20 min "show" you can get an up close view and then also wander through the quite extensive collection of local history which is housed in the adjacent old hotel and also through the grounds. There was a small charge, I think about $8 per person or thereabouts.
Amazing silkwork. 4 tapestries over 10,000 hours over 3 years to record local history and activities.
Fantastic! The work that went into the artworks is absolutely amazing and the staff were very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the yarn works and the area.
