Winifred Curtis Reserve reviews
12Visited this place on a cloudy day and it had rained not too long ago. Some of the vegetation was overgrown and made our clothes a little wet when going through them. Nevertheless, the tracks were somewhat tidy but also quite narrow. There is also a walk which offers a stroll around the lagoon (photo attached). If you really want to enjoy nature and scenery, consider going here otherwise nothing too interesting.
Remarkablely diverse and beautiful flora and fauna. Also, the walk from the bush to the beach is incredible.
Lovely example of unspoiled coastal flora. We even managed a glimpse of a southern brown bandicoot.
This area is a conservationists dream. A perfect fusion of beach meeting bush. Flora & fauna overload. We were amazed at the diversity here. Waterways where birds can be spotted, snakes a plenty in sunny spots on the bush tracks. Flowers in profusion, all culminating onto a deserted wild beach
Unfortunately the lagoon track was blocked by a fallen tree and we couldn't get through though a younger person might (Thursday 9th December 2021)
Great walk through the reseve, listening to birds call. Identifying the flowering plants. Beautiful and relaxing.
A deep deep experience of forgetting oneself in the beauty of and internal and unspeakable connection with Mother-Nature, then feeling a kind of release or freedom with a peaceful heart. We went there with our 3 1/2 months Beagle + Fox Hound puppy boy. Wow, can't explain the creaturely togetherness we had felt there!
Great coastal walks. Interesting assortment of local plants. Quiet and peaceful. Best times during the week. Dogs allowed under strict control.
Super coastal heathland and lagoon environment for easywalking, very well signposted and accessible. Top place to relax in nature
Beautiful track around the lagoon, long but easy flat walk, very serene, peaceful and relaxing. It was a little tricky finding the entrance which is directly opposite Upper Scamander Road. Took us around a couple of hours.
One of the best small coastal reserves in Tas. Particularly good for amazing variety of botanical species. Many walking tracks. Henderson Lagoon a bonus for waterbirds, coastal bush birds in the reserve and a great boardwalk at the northern end leading across a large swamp down to Steele Beach. The beach runs between Scamander and Falmouth where the tidal lagoon entrance is situated. The beach is about 5km long and often deserted. This reserve is a gem.
