Willing Brothers. Wine Merchants reviews
23Lovely ambience, great vino though I'd love it if they cracked open a couple of the more interesting bottles and poured per glass. Food was fantastic.
In a party of 4 dined here with reasonable expectations after reading these reviews. Sadly pretty disappointed. If you’re after a glass of wine and tapas it’s ok. But mains were terrible - risotto flavorless, sausage and lentil was very basic and bland and steak wasn’t great. Tapas was the hero and it would do better just featuring what’s working well. Even cocktails were a let down.
Don’t get me wrong. Willing Bros.was a great place to enjoy a nice bottle of wine but I found the food overpriced. I didn’t think that a sausage and 1/2 of lentils for $23 represented value no matter how nice the surroundings were.
Food was incredible, wine is great, atmosphere is lovely, but the Staff really made this an essential stop for any travellers or passersby. Huge shout out to Claire for a gold Logie waiting performance.
(On thinking, not sure her name was Claire but regardless thanks for a jubbly time - the gnocchi was and the garlic bread was out of this world!)
Love it! Popped in after a movie on Saturday night and was absolutely delighted. Very relaxed atmosphere and awesome food n drinks - will def return
Pretty stoked to have this bar so close to my home… it’s probably abit risky actually. Anyway, tried it for the first time in the weekend. The owner was very accomodating to fit me in on a busy Saturday night despite my late decision to dine out.
I ordered the set menu to try abit of what they were good at, and was pleasantly surprised by the first two dishes that came out. There was a seafood one and a veg based one, and I couldn’t chose what to finish on - they were very good.
Second course was okay. And I think the only reason for my 4/5 was the fact of third course was delivered and left while I was in the bathrooms with no description and? How long it sat for. After a few attempts, I did ask for an explanation in which then the dish was enjoyed. I’m sure it was a simple mistake but made an impact on my experience that night. Having a set menu, it helps to have a description having not seen what I was getting.
Otherwise great vibes, friendly staff and delicious food and drinks.
Great place for an after dinner drop and chilled chat.
Updated April 2022. Reduced to three stars given the nonchalant and careless attitude of the attendant on our most recent visit. The Venue was busy, and we were allocated one of two tables free. We were shown the lift, which didn't really fit the three of us comfortably, but we made do. The lady who served us (with the very cool neck tattoo) seemed great initially. Until we continued to order items off the menu that were no longer available. It would have saved time and embarrassment if she'd advised us which items weren't available upon presenting the menus. In the end, we ordered a bottle of Chianti to share along with a bowl of rosemary fries and parmesan bread whilst we figured out what mains we were to order. We were sat at 19: 45, ordered at 20: 00, and at 20: 45, the attendant queried if we were willing to cancel our order as the kitchen was closing in fifteen minutes. We noted that our order was only nibbles until she took our mains order. We noted we were very hungry and we're hoping for a meal. She begrudgingly agreed to honour our order from 45 minutes earlier, but did not allow for further meals to be ordered. The order arrived around 21: 15. It is worth noting that by 20: 30, the Venue was almost empty. Food was delicious, however we were looking forward to something more substantial. We ended up eating elsewhere.
Had an amazing experience at Willing Bros: excellent professional service, broad offer of delicious wines, tasty bread with parmesan, delicious pork lonza, pasta and tiramisù. Highly recommend!
Good wine. Everything was good until I got steak and chips. Steak was rare and tough. And a bug came out of the food It looks like it's fried together.
If you’re a Sydney sider visiting Hobart this is their 10 William st equivalent, not at all boastful with excellent food and wine. One thing to note - If you like your steak anything more than rare (i.e overcooked) you should let the staff know.
Great place to trying some interesting wine. Ask for recommendations and go with what they suggest. Try something you normally wouldn't try or go with your favourite varietal either way you won't be disappointed. Great for a pre-dinner drink or a Sunday afternoon pitstop.
Small but perfect. A solid menu that works well in a small venue. Staff are very experienced and this is reflected in the service. Nice range of wines, beer and spirits. The only down side was the stools - a sign perhaps that I am getting old. Highly recommend this venue.
Unique wine list with a diverse variety of wines locally and internationally. The food needed a bit more experience behind it. Location is great, right in the heart of Hobart’s food scene.
A great winebar with a good menu, food and wine. Service was really good considering it's a small place and the venue was very busy with a couple of staff. Would love to return when I'm next in Hobart.
Visited here on a Tuesday night. The staff were warm, inviting and knowledgeable. Enjoyed some stracciatella, gnocchi and jamon. Everything was delicious.
Can’t fault the food but you’ll need your phone light to read the menu. Wine was ok but as food cooked in bar are it’s gets a bit warm. Best to be prepared to drink at bar
Great, simple menu of bistro classics, decent wines by the glass (or epic wine list by the bottle).
Great boutique wines, awesome friendly staff.pull up a seat at the window and people watch sipping french bubbles.
Popped in for some champagne and snacks and it was perfect. Relaxed atmosphere, extensive wine list and well matched food. Hands down the best onion rings I’ve ever eaten.
Small place with a huge atmosphere and lovely professional staff. They had an extensive wine list and some delicious small bites! Well worth the visit!
