Waldheim Cabins reviews
23Affordable rudimentary warm perfectly located cabins with share toilet (30 seconds away) and excellent shower (lock up)
Great place to stay to get away from the rest of the world. A lot of hikers coming past constantly but the wombats out the front door and cradle mountain at your doorstep!
What and amazing trip to this place we had
Beautiful weather and outstanding views
Love will be coming
Simple walkers huts sleeping either 4 6 or 8.
Each comes with bunk beds an oven and stove top. Fridge, toaster kettle and crockery.
Basic heater with struggled in very cold weather, but better than nothing!
Great opportunity to stay inside the national Park and experience the peace when everyone has gone home.
Very clean communal showers and toilets just a few steps away. With great water pressure, temperature and even electric heater inside.
Wildlife everywhere. We just sat at the Day hut this evening with a glass of wine and counted about 15 wombats.
Even some basic phone reception if you need it! And our hut also had power
points to charge.
The historic hut is a must visit on your visit to Cradle Mt. See how Gustav lived, lobbied and ultimately help create the amazing national park you stand in today.
The Waldheim forest walk is also a great short walk to complete.
Highly recommend staying here. Absolutely amazing views and walks right out front of your door. Affordable prices, fully functional oven and cooking utensils available. However remember to bring your own tea+coffee, water, oil and salt+pepper.
Great place to stay.we picked up the keys from the visitor centre and were given instructions on how to drive to the cabins as we arrived during the shuttle bus' hours (you wait for one to come by, and then follow it a couple of kms up the road). The walks accessible from the cabins are amazing - we went around crater lake clockwise which took about 6 hours at a slower pace.as for the cabin, if you intend on using the oven there are no baking trays, so bring your own.and, the heater wasn't very efficient as it only just makes the cabin warm enough in winter (beltana 2), but sleeping on the top bunks helps with this, as does a hot water bottle.communal shower/toilet is also very clean and pleasant to use.
What a wonderful place to stay in the middle of the park! Thank you for being so accommodating. Fridge and heating work very well too!
Such an interesting side trip, this man carved and built a timber home in the bush. A great story from long ago
Definitely worth staying at. We saw so much wildlife just around the cabins and Waldheim chalet, and also a good base to go on day walks. Be aware that campervans/motorhomes are NOT allowed, despite it not being mentioned on the Sheffield Tourist Centre booking site.
Great little cabins close to Cradle Mountain. Basic features include fridge, stove, cooking utensils/cutlery, bunk beds, shared toilets. Kids had a ball!
We stayed here in 2003 and it was a really special time for our family. Bare bones is what it is. But what a GLORIOUS location in a superb part of God's creation. A highly recommended experience.
Basic cabins, bunk beds, electric oven, small fridge, electric heating. Some cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, electric kettle and toaster. Comfortable
I thought the cabin was great very necessary for people hiking and visiting. Great it has heating and electricity.
Very good, comfortable, clean, accommodation. Basic bunks and fully equipped kitchen (no microwave). Shared bathroom. Good heating. Away from the Cradle mountain "town" after bus hours nobody around is awesome. Waldheim chalet/museum, Dove lake, overland tracks right there. Animals everywhere. Very nice.
Stayed in 2015, now dreaming of being able to go back in COVID times.
Simple cabins that somehow manage to be cheaper and cleaner than many a backpackers hostel.
Definitely recommend if you are willing to trade some hotel like experiences for being right in the middle of the park and being able to keep a car in the park over multiple nights without having to buy a pass that covers entry/reentry.
A step back in time. An incredible old cabin from the 18 hundreds. Well worth a look. They did it hard in those days all constructed from Ling Billy Pine.
Stayed end of June 20, stay around the same time every year! I just love the cottages! “Old” original, gorgeous cottages, very well equipped for cooking, sleeping etc.
Really warm with electric heating! Exceptional clean toilets & showers!
Amazing walks & scenery!
Highly recommend!
Original hut with good historical information. Can be driven up to burn better enjoyed via the walk where you will encounter wombats, wallabies and other local animals. Also makes a great shelter to eat some snacks when it rains.
Every visitor to the credal mountain should visit this place. This is where the people who protect this area for generations lived and planned and action on protecting this beautiful place.
