Tunnel Hill Mushrooms reviews
5 GET TO KNOW YOUR MUSHROOMS
I was given a mushroom tour at Tunnel Hill as a gift, and at $75 per person it was more than worth every cent
I found the tour to be interesting from the beginning, and by the end I was curious about researching on the health benefits and mushrooms been used as a herbal medicine. No question was a problem, and with a little history on how they got into mushroom farming gave the tour that personal touch
One of the best parts was that everyone gets to make their own mushroom kit to take home and grow, very generous of the guides as I have been on many tours where you have to buy the product at the end with no free gifts
They have many different by-products to purchase not just the mushrooms growing kits. We brought the mushroom dust, miso and a lions mane mushroom kit
The other highlight was that the guides cook up some mushrooms on a train BBQ at the end for everyone to sample, which also is very generous, the only down side to this is that not everyone got to sample both types of mushroom or any at all due to there being no system in serving and some people ensuring they got much more than their share.
I would of liked to see a ticket system where you hand it in the receive your serve. I didn't get my own taste plate but tasted other family members so was happy
The other down side we had one very greedy person in our group who ended up helping herself to making around 4/5 mushroom kits that I saw for herself, an allocation system may help stop this behavior
things to take into consideration is you will be on your feet for a couple hours, but don't have to walk far and its all flat
Younger children would get bored unless in a school tour where the tour can be tweaked to suit children
Makes a great gift for the whole family to enjoy
Dean was an exceptional guide on our tour. He made it memorable and easy to understand the like of a mushroom.
His great storytelling kept our interest. We were a group of 35.
Well, it's worth a visit, you won't regret.
Thanks to Dean for fabulous tour last week.so interesting.
Enjoyed our mushrooms cooked up with some garlic & lemon thyme. Good luck with your expansion plans. We look forward to visiting again
Great experience. The tunnel is amazing and Dean is a legend. Explained everything really well. King oysters and blue oysters were prime
I learnt about Tunnel Hill Mushrooms when researching the Tasmanian food scene. What an epic foodie experience! Locally grown Hobart produce in a historical setting. I was looking for a great source of organic mushrooms for tasty vegan or vegetarian meals. Get in touch with Dean as this unique mushroom farm experience is currently by appointment only.
