Top of the Town Hotel Motel

Standard pub motel rooms. If you're looking for something fancy, it might not be your cup of tea. But if you're simply looking for a place to rest your head at night, while on a budget, this'll do.

There are some things though that I think would be awesome if the motel could look towards giving a thought to:

Despite there being "no smoking" signs around, as soon as we opened the door, the over powering smell of smoke hit us so hard it and we spent the whole time we were there trying to air out the place. Because of this, I probably wouldn't be staying here again simply because as a non-smoker, it was quite unpleasant.

The ventilation in the rooms is non-existant. This made it hard to not just be in the room but try and keep the stale smoke smell at bay. While heat is not something Tassie usually has to take into account, when we were there, we were boiling in those rooms. There was no fan provided either. My fiancee had to get up multiple times throughout the night to open the door and stand by it just to get some air circulating the room. Might be nice to see a fly screen put on the doors so at least the door can be left open?

The only natural light coming into the rooms is the window facing the carpark. This is fine if you don't like privacy but if you want some light, then the only curtain in the room (which is a black out curtain) has to be pulled open, leaving you super exposed. A sheer curtain could go a long way in terms of customer comfort. This would provide light and privacy too.

I don't really know how to get around the sticky floors other than to suggest guests byo slippers because the floors were pretty grimey but it's to be expected in a pub motel.

All in all, the room sufficed. Service was great and the staff were friendly. Rooms just could do with a bit of TLC.

Had a meal with family in the bistro. Told a 45 minute wait, meals came out after 1 hour 15 minutes. Meals were OK but girl serving meals was very rude and told us "it's the chef's fault" rather than apologising for the delay. Won't be back in a hurry.

Honestly Extra Guests Spider and Cockroach.
Power points are Dangerous with exposed wiring.
Shower terrible. Inconsistent 1 minute Beautiful then Extreme Hot or Cold.
Bed Not too Bad with comfort but mouldy pillowcase.
Room stinks like carpets have been damp.
Used air freshener to disguise the mouldy smell
Noisy and Not really comfortable.
However food looked good at Bistro.but didnt eat there.
Accommodation Definitely give it a miss.

Cheep good pub / counter meals a bit old in decore but it serves well for what it is cheep accommodation is what you would expect great for the tradies or civil construction workers working away if you you need to put your work men up somewhere in burnie good parking for trucks and trailers just a real pub with great local atmosphere only down fall is the pokies that could be made redundant.

We stayed there for convenience and I know you get what you pay for but…. Trying to check in was a struggle, outside light on all night lighting up the bed, electric blanket cord tapped up with electrical tape, door stop in the bath room right in front of the toilet where you feet are meant to go, tiles missing from bathroom floor. On the upside the room was very clean.

The accommodation was literally the worst ive Stayed in. Windows don’t open, no air conditioning, outdated, horrible dingy area. They can’t be proud of this place.

Great service, lovely well priced roast. Served quickly even though 2 large groups in. Great experience thankyou.

Fantastic meal all round everyone enjoyed their meal, my granddaughter said her calamari the best she has had credit to the chef

Location was good for where we wanted to be
Rooms were old but fairly clean, except should probably open a draw or 2 and clean
Checking in was poor and never received receipt which was requested on a few occasions and still don't have it
Meal in bistro was good when finally received the right order
Wouldn't rush back here to stay

For years we have eaten at this hotel and the meals have always been fantastic, the mixed grill was the best I’ve seen anywhere and recommended to friends. We haven’t been for a few months and came back last night and the mixed grill has gone along with half of the kids options. The sauces have changed and honestly all tasted horrible especially the gravy, too much unneeded herbs on the garlic bread, the steak was half the size it should be for the price and our table and the wall beside it was crawling with ants. Will be looking for a new regular place to eat.

Just had a fantastic meal here today, we had a group of 17 people with different tastes the meals provide were fresh looked great and where very, very tasty. Well done chef and staff.

Good old fashioned pub like they used to be had everything was nice to have a cold beer and a punt

Working in the hospitality industry myself I was a little taken back about trying to book a room rang the bell and waited then headed into the dining room only to be set to the bar. Then was told to wait as the bar was busy and had to serve the customers. Well I'm sorry I didn't meet the standards of being a customer, then after waiting about 10 mins was sent back to reception area. I was stunned, I nearly left, but I was so tired and hungry I didn't have the energy to leave. I really enjoyed my meal and the room was comfortable which lessoned the blow of earlier experience

The food was ok but no vegan options available.
Reasonable prices but we all left feeling hungry still. The child's meal was very small, perhaps for a toddler.

Ordered a meal with diane suace and what i got was disgusting it was gravy with garlic Not A DIANE SAUCE returned my meal it was terrible

Wow what a difference a new chef can make. Last time we ate here (over 6 months ago) the food was disgusting. Now everything was delicious! Hats off to the new chef. We will be back again.

Wow the meals have improved so much. The new chef has done a great job with the meals and esp the sizes. The calamari is actual proper calamari and not from a box sold at Woolworths. The last lot I got was disgusting. Cannot fault the meals this time. Huge compliments to the new chef she has done an amazing job. We will be back. The mixed grill took me over an hour to eat and my mum's calamari was so tender and divine. The parmigiana was nice size and not over done with the sauce. With the flat head fillets we got 4 pieces and not 2 tiny lifeless ones. The meals have improved soooo much. OMG the burgers are HUGE and out do the burger bar in Wynyard.the Top of the town has got the best chef ever! No I don't know her but her meals are AMAZING! Worth every cent.oh the cheesy herb garlic bread was nice but could do with few more herbs but still amazing.

The advertisement is lunch 7days a week. We drove 40mins to find out they were NOT doing lunch. Bunch of AB's.

Had lunch on Thursday I had potato skins enjoyed them my parents had roast potatoe sloppy meat was tough and frozen veggies were still frozen. I think the cook needs to go back and learn how to cook a real roast like mum used to make, the old fashioned way.

Couldn't complain. Great meal, great service. Was slightly busy but still served our meals quickly. Enjoyed coming here with my daughters.
