The Workshop Cafe reviews
40Fantastic meal and very friendly service. Totally recommend this place for a lovely meal or quick drink.
Nice & casual, quality food, drinks & service.
Secluded & worth every cent.
Beautifully presented space right on the Rivulet at Port Sorell. The coffee was very good, the fire was warm, the food was lovely and the staff were really friendly.
Wish it was my local
Great little hidden cafe that has excellent food and coffee. Nice outdoor seating section. Also very kid friendly with baby changing facilities but even better is the selection of wipes and nappies for any parents caught out unprepared. A very nice touch
This place was absolutely yum and super affordable for a couple of teenagers, this smoothie bowl was super filling and a lot prettier (shoved my spoon in before taking the pic oops), we also had some yummy juice and a slice and coffee and were very impressed
The meal was just delightful. Service was warm and friendly. Will be going back for more of the same.
Clean and comfortable with a cosy fire going in the colder months. One of those placed you earmark as "a must return"
We came straight off the ferry to this charming cafe in Port Sorrel today for breakfast. There is a big car park behind the cafe and a cheery welcome from the Staff. Its decorated in a clean minimalistic style and has a range of tables you can reserve from 2-10 for your casual gatherings or breakfast meetings. Latte was great and my husbands had a long black/Americano. There’s a lovely wall of local products to browse too. I had a lovely fresh vegetarian slider and my husband enjoyed a Huon crumpet. Bathrooms outside with a nice outdoor area for a summers day or energetic children. We will be back!
We discovered this gem this morning! What a pleasant surprise. Best coffee in Port Sorrell and surrounding. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Menu well planned. Venue ideal for small groups and singles. Booking essential. Plenty parking. Wheelchair accessible. Amenities absolutely spotless. Worthwhile to visit. We will be back soon.
First time.
Atmosphere was lovely as soon as you walked in.
Staff lovely and friendly.
Food was absolutely delicious, each one of our group was so happy with our choices.
We all said we would be going back.
Go.and.enjoy.
Stopped in for a morning coffee on the way through, the inside has been painted and has a great feel to it. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, coffee was very good and we ended up snagging two cakes as well!
Fabulous food and coffee with equally wonderful and friendly staff. Great service, value and atmosphere. Close to the River with lovely views of old boats. Will certainly be back. Thanks for an excellent brunch.
This is a TARDIS of a cafe.you round the bend in sleepy Port Sorel along the estuary, amongst residential shacks and homes and see this unadorned bunker of a concrete structure, with it's newly stripped and oiled double wooden doors hinting at a transformation within.and when you step inside, you could swear you just walked into some funky space in Melbourne or Sydney.the roaring log heater a hint of where you still are.
Service was A1, making my guest and myself feel as if they'd been waiting just for us, with fab food to match.
It is now on the list for my drives out of town and the venue to share and create special moments with friends.
The river across the road was picturesque.reflections spectacular too.
Relaxed, simple and the smashed avo is by far the best we have had on the NW coast. Definitely worth the drive. Will be back again.
Fabulous. The whole package. Coffee, food, decor, culture, service. Worth coming back to Port Sorell to go there again. Simple smart menu perfectly executed.
Stopped in on our way out of town. Beautiful space, great coffee, and a very kind owner. Talked to these guys for just a few minutes and could talk to them the rest of the day! Worth a drive out of the way for the level of craft they bring to the table!
I am a very fussy coffee drinker: nothing but a single- shot ristretto will do. It’s a risky approach because any flaws in the beans, the machine set-up, or the barista’s skill will be really apparent.
No flaws at all in the coffee at Workshop! This is outstanding coffee, served in a comfortable setting in a quiet, relaxing off-the-main-drag location on the Esplanade.
A really excellent cafe
Very cute cafe in a quiet town, good aesthetic.
Average tasting coffee and very small servings for takeaway cup sizes. It shouldn’t be the same price for takeaway and sit down if the cup size is going to be much smaller than the mug it is served in if you are eating in.
The sliders were really good and fair priced, however the second time we went we got the waffles for takeaway, and while ordering, the server was a bit rude and impatient when asking “which flavour do you want”, when the menu just lists all of the flavours (ie, banana, whipped cream, Nutella, mixed fruit, ice cream, almonds) with no “or” anywhere on the menu indicating that it’s either/or. For a hefty price of $19, I naturally assumed it came with them all -My bad apparently! I chose banana, and received just that. 2 waffles and a banana for $19 They could have at least thrown in some Nutella? Yikes. Definitely won’t be ordering that again.
A beautiful Cafe serving up the best coffee in the Port Sorell / Shearwater area and a superb breakfast. The smashed avo the best I've come across. Ever.
Tidy and modern cafe setting with enthusiastic young operators who are clearly proud of their business and work hard to do the best for their customer. Pricing is about average for a Tasmanian cafe (i.e. On the high side compared to on the mainland), the portions manageable and not under or overwhelming in quantity. The staff were lively and chatty, the coffee very good and my wife thought the smashed avo possibly the best she has ever eaten, anywhere (and she's eaten a few of them.). Presentation of the cafe and their food is excellent.
