35Standard Pretentious food - keeping in mind the limited options available for food whilst at MONA this is a solid 3/5.
We shared the risotto and the Venison with a side of Paris mash today. I also had the rhubarb desert which was a lovely palate cleanser. Food was delicious, cooked and presented perfectly and the service friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed.
Had an amazing experience at the source! Had a 12pm booking after Mona, the service was great, the plates designed by children were hilarious. 2 vegetarians and so much to offer on the menu. Everything we ordered was optimally different to your classic vegetarian options, we each ordered our our own different entrees and mains and could not fault. Finished up with some wines outside by the fire before the ferry took us back to Hobart!
Highly recommend.
Very good food. All well seasoned and presented
The appetisers were amazing.the venison and hare was fantastic.
Food and service were en pointe. A must visit while at MONA. In fact I found the food & wine more memorable! Really enjoyed the pacific oysters, seafood ceviche salad, and 18 month manchego with quince paste & lavosh. Will come back!
A fantastic meal. Dessert was worth it. Jeremy was a wonderful waiter, the best I've experienced. Can highly recommend this restaurant.
The Source was one of the BEST experiences to indulge in whilst visiting MONA. Our waiter was super friendly and prompt, seating us at a table with an art piece by Pablo Picasso embedded underneath the glass table - a nice view whilst enjoying our fabulous meal.
You do have to pay a deposit per person for the booking, but is well worth it and contributes to the final bill. We ordered the Wallaby Tartare, the Fish, and Venison with a side of seasonal greens. We have been told the desert is phenomenal as well, but opted not to do so as we had the Posh Pit booked back to the waterfront (which includes afternoon tea).
Overall, it was a fabulous experience that I will never forget - a highlight of our trip.
Given the price, small portions, flavors of chorizo was not good imo and mixed steamed vegetables were served cold (also prefer warmed). No options to serve bread felt like an oversight. Waited a long time for food to come out (almost 40 minutes). If the prices were lower, all of this would have been less of a problem.
Left unsatisfied.
What an amazing restaurant. The staff were friendly and the food was divine!
Make sure you book ahead to make sure you get a table. Highly recommended!
High end restaurant with lovely staff, embient atmosphere, great seafood menue, delicious, succulent oysters, seafood salad and main dish fish of the day was to die for. Complemented well with cocktail bandido and bay of fore Chardonnay. The desert strawberry pistachio was lovely. Definitely will reccomend it to come after Mona exhibition to digest all what have been seen. Booking was easy, very accommodating and ready to help. Well done for providing such a wonderful culinary experience!
Incredible experience and 100% booking this restaurant if visiting the Mona. Great service, non pretentious, great views and awesome food.
Narrow menu with a broad selection of ingredients to each food listed on the menu that appears busy on first thoughts. Then they serve the food and your mouth is taken somewhere very special. Unforgettable lunch. We were there for the food and did not accompany our meal with alcohol this time and had a main only.
Fresh food and unbelievable flavours. Make sure you try the cauliflower and the wallaby tartare. The FOH staff were superstars!
We were fortunate to get a Monday 1.30 late lunch booking and whilst the restaurant was buzzing the service was great, even for the coeliacs. Highlights from the tasting menu were; crispy cauliflower, fish and the venison.
Just book! Absolutely incredible food, thoughtful, friendly service and beautiful atmosphere. An amazing experience.
Great burgers! We had the cheesy burgers and sweet potato chips. Super friendly owner who gave us lots of local walking tips and other recommendations. So delicious after a long day of driving. BYO was a nice bonus too. Excellent value for money and very generous portions. Highly Recommend!
What a great place to dine, friendly proffessional staff (Alistair). Food an absolute delight.will certainly return. Thank You.
Outstanding. Service, food, wine, view all very well done. Portions could have been a bit more generous but everything was just done very well. This was a highlight of Tassie food.
One of the best dining experiences you can have in Australia. Warm hospitality, brilliant service and better wines. Thank you to Rhys, Al, and the very polite English chap, Aaron, who made our MONA experience second to none.
Superb food, every dish a winner- complex and surprising. Fabulous service and lunch here is great way to break up a full days visit to the staggering achievement that is MONA
