The Shingles Riverside Cottages reviews
18 Faultless accomodation, set on the riverside.
We would love to return as it has real ambiance & convenient to Hobart & surrounds.
We stayed in Birches cottage which was a delightful surprise! Veronica was super helpful & easy to deal with.we really enjoyed our stay & would recommend the cottages!
Serene and beautiful surroundings. Stunning views! Great amenities, modern, clean and comfortable! Lovely atmosphere and friendly hosts! We will be back! 10/10!
After our disastrous stay on Cradle Mountain (!) we winged it last night and found this place in the town of New Norfolk, Tasmania's third oldest town established in 1807 when settlers were transferred to the area from Norfolk Island's fading Penal Colony.
It’s really cosy and well set out on the river - the sheets smell divine! We’d definitely stay again a few nights to explore the region. Just don’t expect anything to be open after 8.30 (even Woolworths and BWS)! It’s a very sleepy river town.
Wow. Amazing location on the Derwent river with area to take in the view while having a cuppa or B. B. Q.clean and comfortable cottage.veronica and John were so helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend
Lovely place. We are currently staying here. Feels Like home. Wonderful little touches. Well presented
Clean (very), comfortable (very) quiet, PERFECT.will definitely stay again. Derwent Cottage for three nights.
Beautiful location, the hosts were very friendly and bent over backwards to make our stay awesome and the cabin was so clean and warm when we arrived. Loved our stay and will be back.
Spectacular! The gardens, the river, the beautiful owners, the gorgeous cottages (decked out with bread, spreads, eggs, milk etc) make this place a little slice of heaven.
We are locals & stayed here on our wedding night. We are familiar with the area, having lived here a long time and we were still pleasantly surprised by the gorgeous scenery and river views. Cant wait to stay again
Veronica such a pleasure meeting you. So friendly and helpful right from the first phone contact until we left after a far too short a stay. We loved our stay in “The Willows” and wanted for absolutely nothing. The extra touches made for a visit that won’t be our last. Extremely clean, modern and very tasteful. Lovely comfy beds. The grounds where we were free to wander had something for everybody - beautiful gardens a plenty - lovely clean pool - or a relax on the pontoon on the river. We viewed the other cottages and were not disappointed - definitely able to accommodate different configurations of families. Again thank you and see you in the not too distant future. Penny
What an amazing homely place to stay! The property is gorgeous, the Derwent feels just like home! So clean, every comfort you could want and all so beautifully and tastefully done. We couldn’t have been made feel more welcome even though we have yet to personally meet the wonderful owners.
The room was clean with cereal provided. The room I got has a view of the river. Tiny birds come right up to the front door. Highly recommended.
A nice secluded spot that was right on the river. The accomodation was very clean and cozy. Quiet and close to local amenities. Not too far from Hobart CBD and surrounds. Great for a weekend away or a break from the mundane.
After camping for 8 nights and then having some car trouble we needed an unscheduled night in New Norfolk before heading to Hobart. We had left it quite late and when we enquired at the caravan park they suggested Shingles. We were rapt, complete luxury. The hosts were very accommodating with our dusty camper trailer (and we were quite dishevelled also). The unit was extremely clean and tidy, fantastic shower, great view, comfy bed and all you needed for a great breakfast. It was very much a luxury for us after a couple of difficult days.
GREAT, booked for one night stayed two, comfortable quite, stroll down to the Derwent river feed the duck.self contained all you need for a short or long stay highly recommend thank you.view from the jetty at dusk in March
Very inviting clean and warm and cosy on a cold Tassie day. The units are very well equipped with condiments and everything you need! It’s our 2nd visit and we weren’t disappointed. We had a group of 4 adults and everything was amply supplied.
Excellent location views and the price is excellent.veronica is a delightful host and I will definitely book there again
Picturesque spot. Suitable for a one night stopover, if you like sleeping on a concrete slab. The cottages are nice enough, and stocked well with breakfast items. Would not recommend a long stay thou. Beds are extremely hard.
