Chairlift was good. Tickets not too expensive. Nice walk around the top of the nut with ocean views. The gift shop was good but wanted more things where the nut featured. There wasn't anything really.

A steep climb to a lovely view. Be warned it is steep but there are hand rails. Chairlift not in operation during the winter. Great views and you can walk around to do the circuit. Quite windy at top

Amazing walk and excellent view no the top. The first 400m is a steep climb and after that just an easy circuit around the top of The Nut.

Such a scenic location especially on a clear day. Recommend jumping on the chair-lift on the way up. Complete the around 40 min walk on the top. The Nut offers complete 360 degree views.
Bathrooms and cafe are located at the bottom of the chairlift.
Steep pathway to walk down on the return if you don’t want to take the chairlift down.

Took the chair lift up and back. The lady at the top wasn't very friendly and it seemed a bit of an inconvenience for her to help you. The other lady smiled and was friendly.
If you do the circuit walk, do yourself a favour and go clockwise. Most people seem to do it the other way, but it is much harder due to steps and hills. The view from the lookouts in beautiful. Make sure to use the toilet before going up.
We didn't eat in the shop below.

A beautiful little town with an iconic ancient volcanic plug standing proud! A definite visit for those who coming to Tasmania. There is a chair lift to take you up down to the top and you can walk around and enjoy the scenic look outs!

Absolutely stunning view thats out of this world! Definitely worth it to either take the Chairlift or hike your way up while enjoying the breeze and sounds of nature.

Awesome experience hiking up and around this ancient volcanic plug. Probably one of the most steepest concrete tracks going up. There's a handrail of your shoes don't have the best grip. Definitely worth doing the 45 min circuit walk around the top.

Awesome experience, specially the walk towards to mountain and within the mountain was superb, and we cans through chairlift. It’s a very steep walk but too good experience with some unexceptional amazing views.

There's no point in being anywhere near Stanley and not climbing up the Nut! Catering for all walking and climbing abilities, it's not every day that you get to stand on the top of a 70 million year old extinct volcano and view the world from 143 metres above sea level. There's little more that can be said other than you'd have to be nuts to give it a miss!

Great hike, it’s very steep at the beginning. Once you reach the top you have a loop, to the left you will start with grassy areas with wide view, to the right you will start with the A delightful forest and then some grand views of the harbour. If you have the condition - highly recommend. If not - just take the chairlift.:)

This is a must do on your bucket list. The chairlift up and down is recommended. The 2km walk around the top of the Nut was awesome. Recommend walking clockwise at the top when leaving the chairlift because you avoid walking up steps. Instead you’re walking down steps. Much easier. Yes it was windy but the views were spectacular. Highly recommended for people of all ages.

One of the many places well worth a visit while holidaying in Tasmania and we've been back several times. We walked up "The Nut" this time and then walked around the top. Take your time to enjoy it, the surrounds and the township

Stanley remains one of our favourite places in Tasmania to visit. Catch the chairlift to the top of The Nut, for some exhilarating views of the town and surrounding coastline. Also very informative and educational, a must-do activity.

Unique views and a nice stroll around the top with a camera. Very windy - if you wear a hat, it will need to be attached. Proper walking shoes required.

Shop at the bottom should be able to provide information.

If you have any health or mobility issues, take the chairlift to see the view from the top, but seek advice beforehand as to whether you will be able to complete the circuit of the top. It is not flat.

Walk clockwise / start with the left path to walk down steps instead of up them. There are quite a few.

That is, unless you don't want to do the whole circuit, in which case, the shorter walk to the viewing platform of the town is to the right. (Ocean views to the left)

Carry your lunch/snacks & water - there are picnic tables in a shaded area under the old pine trees close-ish to the end of the walk, which is a great place to rest in summer.

A must see when visiting Stanley
The walking trail is very easy. It’s windy up there but the views are great

Search for "the nut access track" to get to the starting point. You can take the chairlift up (I think it's about $17 return or $11 one way for adults) or take the zigzag route up, which is about 15 minutes walk. The walk is pretty steep though

Once you've reached the top, there's a 2km circuit walk which would take about 30 - 45 minutes to complete (depending on how fast you walk). The walk is really nice and they even have small little signs to keep children entertained throughout the walk. There're a lot of informative signs along the way too, which is awesome.

Awesome experience but do come on a good day, I came on a super windy day (48km/h), and it was still good but can imagine it'll be much better if the wind was calmer.

It’s a beautiful place with the different landscape. Everywhere is green. Beautiful shades of green and blue can be seen up there. Nice village. Definitely go back again.

Nice place but sad stories. There was a lot of rain and it was hard to walk. Recommended to do it in summer.
