The Mews Motel

We stayed in the bottom room for one night during the peak Jan period. Staff were friendly, the room was spacious and with little touches that had character. There is secure lock up parking too. The motel is in close walking or driving distance to central CBD. For what we paid we were super happy with this unique and super well priced little find.

Redeeming factors: Sunny was welcoming and informative and called us to say we had left something in our room. On site secure parking.
Not so redeeming factors: This is not a motel.it is a room in a house. We had to leave a lot of our luggage in the car as difficult to navigate the narrow staircase plus the room was tiny with a real mish mash of furniture and nic nacks (as was the rest of the house) and no wardrobe. Flimsy curtains stuck behind a bed that were stuck on the curtain rail letting in all the light
The worst was the dirty bathroom, dust and grime all along the top of the tile ledges, the same on the visible pipe under the basin, back of toilet floor filthy and the shower full of mould, especially when the shower curtain was pulled back.
We have spent 12 days travelling Tasmania and this was the worst accommodation we encountered. Coming from motel management experience ourselves- it was unacceptable.

A sense of history to sleep in a house that is more than 150 years old.the owner put in efforts to keep the room cosy despite the constraints of an old house.there is heater in the room, a dyson fan cum heater.we stayed in the biggest room on the top room.we use the single bed room as living room.the wifi was sufficient for our netflix entertainment.food options nearby include steve grill and jailhouse grill.both excellent choices.

Our host Sonny was so easy to deal with, the accommodation was comfortable and lovely. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

We recently stayed for 2nights and disappointed with the standard of the accommodation. This is really backpacker accommodation. Not particularly clean and the room was clutted with odd pieces of furniture. The bathroom was fine.

I loved it. Welcomed by the owner Sunny who have us a walk through and invite to drinks and his own home made olives. The secure parking was great for us with the motorcycle. The building and rooms are really nicely done. Bed was super comfortable. Short walk to a great cafe for breakfast. We loved it. Thanks Sunny.

What a great find. Beautiful building which is perfectly decorated to match its age from 1881. The host greeted us at the door and made us feel extremely welcome. The furniture and sitting room is second to none. Our only regret is that we can not stay longer. Great value for money. Put this place on your list of where to stay in Launceston.

Fantastic service, extremely clean, comfortable and warm rooms. Beautiful outdoor undercover area with all essential accessories and utensils. Extremely homey, could not recommend enough. Central to everything in launny.

Beautiful motel with a great location. The room was warm enough during winter when we stayed at the end of June 2022. There's a secured car park at the back. Everything in the building are so nice & clean, it has so much character. Sunny is one of the nicest & helpful host you would ever meet! Definitely would stay here again when in Launceston.

The room was comfortable and tidy, but unfortunately our bathroom had peeling paint and mould on the ceiling, no exhaust fan and no place to
put your own soap in the
shower. It was too expensive for this style of accommodation

As soon as I entered Mews motel I felt a warmth that you don't experience very often. The staff welcomed us immediately providing a friendly environment. The room gave off a soothing vibe and was extremely clean. Great value! Definitely staying again!

Clean, comfortable and quiet. More like a guest house than a motel. Quirky and homely. Sunny gave a warm and friendly greeting.

Very cute old fashioned. The room was large, tidy and comfortable. Friendly and kind people. Highly recommend it!

Very old and tired looking. Couches and beds not great. Facilities limited. Cooking was available out back but was very dirty. Wouldn't stay again.

We were genuinely delighted by The Mews accommodation and enjoyed our two night stay. It is a place that has personality, it was clean and comfortable (the linen was top quality too). The room was small and didn’t have a kitchenette but it was all we really needed as there was a great outside kitchen area undercover that we were able to cook our own meals at. The staff were also very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone seeking a comfortable night’s stay.

Above outstanding customer service, the whole place is comfortable and cosy while maintaining a style of elegance, bathrooms are small n basic, however very clean and has all the gear.:)
Never got to use the pool, so can't tell how big or of heated.

Really sweet little place just outside the main part of Launceston. Place was warm, comfortable, clean and inviting, and Sonny was super accommodating when we arrived early. Just a really nice place to stay!

This motel was the most miserably poor motel that I had the misfortune to stay in whilst on a motorcycling tour of Tasmania.
Had to wait 20 minutes for the receptionist to arrive from off-site to check in.
I was then shown to a pokey room that was NOT air conditioned. One window did not open. The other window lot in a lot of traffic noise. It was one of the hottest days ever recorded in Launceston.
Tea and coffee was supplied but not in hygienic sachets, it was in reused small jam jars that made two serves.
Upon leaving I had to open the remote controlled security door to move my vehicle to the outside then go back inside to drop my key in drop-box then sprint back through the motel before the door automatically closed.
I am sorry but I can not recommend this hotel no matter how cheap (and nasty) the rates were.

Great little motel that looks totally unassuming from the outside - but the downstairs room we were staying in had a brand new bathroom, Sheridan towels, dyson heater/cooler and the owner Sunny was very friendly

The Mews Motel is a nice, homely place. Sunny is super friendly and makes you feel so welcomed! Definitely recommend and definitely would come back!
