No reservation taken for unpowered, first come first serve. They post updates on availability on WikiCamp.

AUD10/person/night; payment by card only.

Owners are really nice people! Toilets were clean. Washing machine (AUD4) available. Not a lot of privacy.

One downside: they should close the gate at one point, otherwise people will show up pretty late and will wake "everybody" up.

Great place for a short stay. Showers and toilets available, as well as basic camp kitchen.

Had to sleep in our car because the possums were trying to get in our tent looking for food. One even climbed it. I guess it’s good if you are on a self contained vehicle, but have that in mind if you are on a tent.

Yes, this could be the perfect camp, however. We stayed here a few nights and the price is definitely a steal for what you get so close to Hobart. Unfortunately, the word has obviously got out and when we were there, the camp was maxed out to its capacity (or beyond?). It was full of a wide range of campers including a mix of budget wizz-bangers, families with young children and permanents. Even though it's a managed camp, nothing stops anyone from going out for the night, then returning at 1am of 2am and making lots of noise, which happened on numerous occasions while we were there. It is not uncommon to have to queue up to use the toilet, shower or hand basin in the bathrooms, for example, there are only two hand basins (one of which is tiny) for all of the females in the campground. The "local wildlife" consist mostly of huge possums who have grown used to the permanent food source of tents and campers and woke us up several times climbing all over our car and roof top tent. Many campers in the camp seemed to have set up for the long term, blocking off big areas with washing lines, tents etc, making it hard for new arrivals to find a spot. While we were there, a french backpacker community started to grow and took over the camp kitchen, staying up late and talking loudly etc.etc. The setting and set up of this camp is great, but it has clearly got out of control, the current situation is not sustainable in my opinion, something needs to change with how the camp is managed or otherwise, I fear this will be another one to close down.

Loved this peaceful bush camp.
I didn’t use the kitchen, but the toilets, showers & washing machine were clean and worked well. Instant Gas hot water, so once the cold clears the pipes, the shower is HOT.
Wildlife right near the campsites: wallaby, kookaburra and some unidentified rustling, hopping & growling.
Check in at the caravan office next to rubbish bins at the top of the hill (photo).
I wish I could have stayed longer!

We stayed here about 5 or 6 times during our time in tassie as it’s just so close to Hobart. It’s great camping, lots of wildlife, good facilities. And decent price. Great place to base yourself!

It was a nice camping. All the facilities were working without any problem. The hot showers were a 10/10.
It gets quite busy so I recommend to go early to get a spot.

We paid $10 per person in an unpowered spot.

What a great campsite! Beautiful bit of bush and absolute bang for your buck! Facilities are clean, volunteers are so kind and helpful, and the overall vibe of this place is lovely. We stayed here our first night in Tas and came back for our last, easily our favourite camp that we’d been to.

Beautiful campground. With a-lot of interesting native wildlife. Its a pity the witch who runs it hasn’t gotten laid in 30 years and makes it known to everyone she meets. She is a delightful host who a real talent for making enemies, do her a favour and do a doughy on the way out ️

The campsite was very well maintained and clean however I was less than impressed with the attitude of the staff towards campers. The rules while reasonable were rigorously enforced to the degree that it put a damper on the whole evening despite no breaking of these rules. Unfortunately I can't say I will be staying here again.: (

Nice staff and not far from Hobart. We came in late but we could just register and pay the next day. The owners are really nice and the kitchen area is great.
There are two toilet places, one is covered in centipedes, which is not very comforting when peeing, but that's the only downside to this otherwise lovely place!

Fantastic place! We stopped here for one night on our way to Bruny island and the people were fantastic. The place is huge and they have all the facilities you could need.

I am a bit biased about this place because it’s a bit to rough for me as I’m used to caravan parks that’s not rough at all (beginner camper here folks!), so apologies for that. This place is literally in the middle of a bush, lots of millipedes, brushtail possums, bandicoots, chickens, but the amount of millipedes climbing our tent really puts me off: D. But this camp has all the basic amenities: hot shower (no timer), toilets and laundry (no dryer). They have powered sites as well. So all in all, it’s not too bad. The caretakers cannot control millipedes and the weather, can they? (When we were there the weather was miserable, rainy and cold for a week). Lovely caretakers as well. Ken and Fiona are really helpful.

Cyclist beware - 20% steep climb for 1.6kms to get to the camp. Not what you need after a long day in the saddle. Camp is up in the Clouds which can make for a cold damp and wet experience on the wrong day. Must be lovely on a summers day. Facilities are good with showers and small camp kitchen shed with the local animals. Can post is hospitable

If you just did a long haul trip and can't face getting into Hobart yet it is a place to stay.

No grass all dust. Don't let the free showers draw you in. Hot water is scarce no matter how early of the morning or evening.
