The Grand On Macfie reviews
47WE STAYED THERE IN AUGUST, THE BEST STAY THE BEST SERVICE AND WOW FACTOR ROOMS, IVE STAYED IN MODERN HOTELS BEFORE BUT THIS IS GREAT. OLD FURNITURE & ANTIQUES EVERYWHERE NOW MY WIFE LOVES OLD, AND CLOSE TO RESTAURANTS WE WALKED, BREAKFAST WAS FANTASTIC, WE WILL BE BACK.
Outstanding experience, beautiful room, very comfortable bed and outstanding service couldn't be happier
Helped us out when we first got into Tasmania. Beautiful people and stunning rooms!
And the food is to die for! Even got my non-egg eating partner eating egg!
The select period decor is divine, the location has views for miles but it's the hosts who will make your stay. Paul and Bernard are affable, gregarious and full of local knowledge.and a fair bit of sass! Oh and don't forget the delicious breakfast and elegant high teas.
All in all a delightful experience
Very warm hospitality with family run style accommodation.
The host greets us with our first name, feels the high level of services and hospitality.
Room is big and comfortable, very quiet in the evening, we enjoy a very peaceful sleep after a long ride.
The breakfast is awesome, a good selection and customized per our desire. The eggs are freshly cooked and the orange juice is freshly squeezed.
We highly recommended and definitely come back again for our future vineyard tour in north of Tasmania.
Nothing was too much trouble for Paul & Brendan (the owners) as they were there to pick us up after a long journey on The Spirit of Tasmania ship and drove us directly to our beautiful accomodation at The Macfie. It was like stepping back in time with our four poster bed and luxurious room! Arriving late at night and hungry after not having dinner on the ship they offered to drive us down to the local hotel for a delicious dinner of scollops and seafood. We rang them when we had finished our meal and they drove us back to our accomodation for a good night’s sleep. Our beds were very comfortable, clean and tidy! The old world charm of this gorgeous old heritage listed B & B left me wanting to stay longer but had only previously booked for 1 night as we had a bus to catch the next morning to Hobart!
We woke up all fresh and relaxed and headed down to the dining room for a beautifully cooked breakfast! After breakfast Paul drove us down to the bus stop in plenty of time to make sure we caught our bus on time! Thank you so much Paul & Brendan for your wonderful & generous hospitality and for making our first memory of visiting Tasmania for the first time a very pleasant one! We will definitely come back and visit you guys again in the near future! Much love & best wishes- Helen & Grant O’Neill xxx
The best B and B we found in Tasmania. Beautifully appointed rooms and fabulous cooked breakfast. Our hosts Paul and Brendan could not have been more friendly or helpful - this place is a real gem
Warm and friendly hospitality in a stylish and refined establishment. A nod to another era. Bed and breakfast with Victorian charm.
It was really impressive and the hosts were great fun full of knowledge about the building the art and the town.and the breakfast was to die for
A beautiful late-Victorian B&B, lovingly decorated in the period style, and run by a couple who take great pride in the place. Highly recommended.
This is the fourth time we have been hosted by Brendan and Paul. Mine hosts are fabulous with giving you ideas on what to see and do and are a wealth of experience with the history of Devonport. Each time we have stayed at the Grand we have taken different people with us and all are made so very welcome. Today we had an ungodly hour flight from Launceston so they made sure they had a lovely breakfast ready for us and our early departure. It’s just really a home away from home and look forward to our next visit.
Beautiful location and the friendliness staff. We’ve loved our night stay here and when we return to Devonport we’ll stay here again.
Awesome location in a charming piece of history. Hosts are 10/10, as is accommodation. A definite must to stay here again. Linden & Ange
We had a wonderful & memorable night here. Lovely & hospitable hosts, beautiful room with loads of character & scrumptious breakfast. Highly recommend.
Authentic atmosphere, good breakfast, great hosts. Everything was very cousy, beautiful and clean.
My partner and I stayed with Paul and Brendon 10 mths ago whilst visiting Tasmania. We both agree it was the highlight of our holiday.
So impressed with this beautiful home we have planed a cruise in the next few weeks from Sydney to Hobart. We are planing to hire a car and visit Table Cape for the end of the Tulip festival.
On our way back to Hobart we plan on a over night stay at our favorite place in Devonport.
I would highly recommend this beautiful home.
It's a great place to spend a night.lots of history and heritage. Wonderful hosts made it extra special.
Sensational service, the room we stayed have the best view over looking the ocean and ferries, beautiful morning sun comes through the windows just no words could described. The place just Attention to details, the living room and the breakfast just stunning. We had the best poached eggs on toast we have never had! Thanks Paul and the chef who made us such beautiful breakfast, definitely will come back and stay soon.
Paul and Brendon were the perfect hosts ensuring our stay in their magnificent establishment was lacking in nothing. No effort was spared including recommending & driving us to & from the best restaurant in Devonport, then after a comfortable night's rest, a sensational breakfast each day.
