The Crown Inn reviews
35 Great meal, one of the best pub steaks I've had for a long time.
I ordered a rare scotch (pictured) with seafood sauce, which was served on the side. My husband ordered an eye fillet cooked medium & received a lovely thick cut cooked perfectly. Both came with chips & a fresh, well dressed salad which was served in a separate bowl. Didn't have dessert as the meals were substantial, but the menu had the old favourites, sticky date pudding, banana split etc, all for under $10.00 which is terrific value for what we seen others enjoying.
Great food quick and friendly service.
Meal were a generous size. Relaxed atmosphere. Would definitely go again. Garlic bread was a melt in your mouth. Must have.
It a nice place to go but the sea food platter wasn't good the fish was dry and you should add more salad not just lettuce like add tomatoe, red onion ect and make it like a salad
Great service, friendly staff. An old pub which they have tried to make look a lil classy. Great effort. Would recommend this pub
I used to visit here often and loved the food, service and atmosphere. A couple of visits, after new management, where inept handling of people with bookings at a bar cash register in a half hour queue has spoiled the entire experience. Take bookings. Escort people to their table. Pay waiting staff to take orders etc.like used to happen and have droves of old customers returning.
The food is great but service was difficult and slow as lots of people in the dining room and not enough staff at the bar. Overall what a great venue just needs a few more staff on shift so you don't line up for 15 minutes for a pint.
Ordered the smoked salmon, prawn and avocado salsa today. Arrived without prawns, asked the waitress and she said 'is it going to be a problem because the chef is really stressed". Ate a 1/3 and stopped, no seasoning and extremely bland. Has really gone downhill since my last visit.
Great place if you want overcooked and tasteless food. To be honest, they are catering towards the 70+ crowd. The place does have that nursing home feel to it.
Meal didn't feed me up.
Steak was cooked perfectly, however was a poor cut of meat, and was not seasoned.
Veggies were average, once again not seasoned and there was no potato with the roast veg?
Staff were nice enough but unfortunately seemed like they didn't want to be there.
Pros -
good atmosphere
Steak cooked well
Meal was hot
Cons-
Steak not seasoned
Staff were average
No potato in the roast veggies
Abit expensive for what it is
Wonderful staff and good food. I love that they have put together a family room. I didn't love that we had to walk through the bar to get to it but the effort was appreciated I am sure they are still working on it.
The pub now has new owners and they are making remarkable changes to the old run down Crown Inn which has been needed for so long!
The new owners also own the Richmond Arms hotel which is a great pub and so warm and cosy in the winter. I am looking forward to more changes in the Crown Inn and I am confident it will be just as warm and cosy as the Richmond Arms.
The meals in the dining room are really good and competitively priced and the staff are very friendly. A bucket list kind of pub
4 of us Had a meal there on Sunday!
Food was fantastic.
Good honest pub food.
Reasonably priced.
Service was super friendly and efficient.
If they had a zero alcohol beer available it would have been practically perfect.
My partner and I come to have dinner. I ordered the roast pork and a banana split. My roast pork wasn’t portioned correctly it seemed small for $25 and my banana split they come and said they had no banana so I asked for a bowl of ice cream and that too was under portioned
Country pub serving good value food friendly staff and quick service.
As you can see above my review four years ago was very favourable. Yesterday Feb. 2022, we visited again having not been for quite some while, certainly some changes, no seniors menu which meant ordering from the main menu, we had crumbed scallops, chips and salad. Our full price menu choice was very ordinary, lacked taste and presentation. No table service now, order from the bar which is ok by me. Overall the personality and good value that once existed in this lovely old pub seems to have long gone. Don't think we will bother again, sadly.
First time back in a very long time sat outside and enjoyed our meal very friendly staff thanks will return
Food was excellent but tables were a bit yuk
Went back Dec 2021 tables still sticky and my chicken was yuk
G daughter had the kilo tbone very tender and huge took a photo but can't put it up here?
Very disappointing- this used to be a great place to bring our groups however they seemed understaffed, slow service, ridiculously small meals with undercooked potatoes - we won't be back
Look the food was good, the drink selection fine.
But dinner took just over 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the table after ordering. Dont know what else to say. Not even the Winston is that bad and that place caters to half of Hobart.
Comfortable, cool, quiet guesthouse. The room is clean. It's perfect to celebrate a birthday weekend or BBQ for family
Just. There was a party of 6 of us. Undercooked chips all around. Parmy.below par. Shouldn't be able to stuff up a basic parmy. Was dry. The crown used to be a good feed. Unsure what has happened here. Maybe one meal could be below average
Not all 6. And we all got different meals.
Hate giving a bad review. Love to promote good pub grub.but not here. Disappointed.
