We had to rehome our 2 cats as we are moving. We surrendered them to Ten Lives Cat Centre. It was very sad for us but we had to do it. The staff are lovely, caring people and Ten Lives cat centre does an amazing job (mostly volunteers). We are so grateful your help. Thankyou

The boss of this place is a bully, it's no wonder all the good people left here, often in tears. He simply enjoys putting on young women to look at, he doesn't reward his employees, also without my consent pointed out my status of homeless to visitors simply to make himself and organisation look good by housing my cat, he is a sad short loser who plays mind games with his employees. He also said I used the system which is nonsense, he wanted me to work more and put me on reception and I said no. I wouldn't mind if he got hit by a buss. There is a special place in hell for people like him.

I had to surrender a relatives cat. It was a very smooth process. The staff were wonderful and answered all my questions with great care.

Im a temporary resident of tasmania and they refuse to let us adopt a precious cat. Im a previous cat owner and this is heartbreaking. They should screen the people before they’re letting everyone it, this is unfair and unjust. Provided that my friends are temporary residents and white but didnt question their residency at all. Please make an action plan for this. Have some proper screening. Dont judge people because of its race. Let this fur babies get adopted by rightful owners.

I adopted an adult cat from this shelter and was assured he would be happy to live indoors and he wasn't. As soon as he made himself comfortable, which was virtually immediate, he was bored and started meowing incessantly to go outside.
I returned him and was refused a refund.
As a disability pensioner, I did not want to make a $300 donation, I wanted a companion. Take care here, not everything is as rosy as it seems.

Have wanted to foster some kittens for some time and finally did so once we moved into our own place. I chose to care for two kittens and made sure to tick the box saying they can't be unwell due to having my own cat also living in the house. I kept them in a separate room so there was a door between my cat and the kittens (a few small interactions under the door but that was as close as they ever got).

A few weeks after having the kittens I took them back in for their vet check and one returned with a red eye which I flagged with Ten Lives. Days later my cat showed signs of cat flu and a 3am $230 trip to the emergency vet was eventually needed. I ended up giving the beautiful kittens back and was sad that the sick one was still adopted out straight away. My cat who has always been inside and healthy has now had cat flu for a second time since and Ten Lives hardly wanted to know about it at the time.

I had to push for their vet to give my cat a look over when I dropped the kittens back as I would have otherwise been charged again for another vet trip. It was then I was told they were aware they had returned the kitten unwell but had never mentioned it to me. Complete disregard for carers and their own pets and tried to put the blame on me for not washing my hands, putting the cats together etc which was not true and was even told I 'should have ticked that I didn't want unwell cats' which I had. Loved fostering the kittens however it seems not all staff are about the health of the cats or the feedback from when they were in care.

Completely unsatisfactory! People putting money in to something that’s not there for the best intentions. Be very careful!

Staff don't seem to care who adopts kittens, it's first past the post with absolutely no vetting. Very disappointing customer service, coupled with misleading information.

These guys are flat out amazing. They are a charity that gets no funds from the government, and rely on donations and volunteers - which is tough down here in Tassie. It's changed so much over the last few years and I am amazed at what they can achieve with next to nothing. Keep up the good work you amazing people - the cats need u!

I experienced the worst customer service. I attended on a Saturday not realising that I could not surrender a stray cat on the weekends. I advised that I am unable to make it during the week due to working commitments. The cage was abruptly taken off me and the cat and cage we taken away. I was later advised that I had to pay $90. I was not initially told this. Obviously I was not happy about this as I didn't want to pay $90. I asked for my cage back and was advised that I could not have it back until I paid the $90. I was treated as though I was doing something wrong when all I was trying to do was give a cat a second chance. I ended up coming out as though I was the enemy and feeling extremely upset. Unfortunately I had no one with me to back up my side of the story. Four days later and I am still shaking from this horrific experience. I have been advised by the manager that I will not be receiving an apology. Unfortunately we have a stray cat problem on our property. We believed that we were giving these skinny, unhealthy cats covered in fleas and ticks a second chance by taking them to what appears to be the only place. As I am unable to attend Ten Lives again due to the anxiety that the recent experience has caused, I asked the manager if there is somewhere else we could take these cats but he did not provide any information. I have emailed numerous places to try and find somewhere else but to no avail. If anyone out there knows what we can do with these stray cats it would really be appreciated.

This place does the most amazing work for the cats, the community and the environment. They do not receive enough appreciation and thanks for the hard work that they do every day. I always make a donation or purchase when I go in to help support them:)

Ten Lives Cat shelter, has recently renovated their adoption cat and kitten display area. It is more interactive for cats and potential new adoptees. Ten Lives has set up training sessions for new foster carers and advanced caring sessions for more challenging health issues of foster cats and neonates. They have over 300 cats in care, assisted by over 180 foster carers.
