Tasmania Fly Fishing

Scotty was wonderful to deal with in setting up our trip. He was also so helpful on the day. My hubby, self and adult sons had a wonderful day learning how to fly fish - I would highly recommend if you have never experienced and want to give it a go - get in touch with Scotty.

Did a New Years Eve river trip with Scott and his son. They were both awesome blokes, very knowledgeable, very encouraging and enthusiastic, I had a great time out and learnt a heap and caught a few trout in the process. As a female angler I was apprehensive but they were both great! I highly recommend Scott and the crew and I can’t wait to get back and go again one day.

Magic day out with Scott in some pristine Tassie wilderness. Received some great fly lessons beforehand, and managed to catch a couple beautiful fish in a beautiful environment. Scott went well out of his way to accommodate the dates and locations for the trip based around my travelling plans. Couldnt have asked for a better experience in learning to catch a trout on fly!

Scott was the perfect guide. Prior to the trip he stayed in touch & answered any questions we had promptly. On the day he was considerate not only for the fisherman but equally for the observer. My mate and I flew to Launnie (great place!), never having Fly-fished before. Scott took us on a 3/4 Day Guided tour to a beautiful part of the Esk River, showed us the ropes, set our lures, and we had the best day ever. Caught a couple of trout, but the joy is in being there. Scott is a great guide and a great bloke. Couldn't recommend it more for a quick getaway with a mate or bonding with a kid - whether you're a beginner or experienced.

Great fishing was had! Scottie was a great, patient teacher! Like he said “you caught a fish within a few minutes and I caught my first fish after six months and yet we have the same teacher! ” Thanks Scottie:)

Thank you Scott and Logan for an amazing fly fishing experience on the rivers of wild Tasmania (Launceston). Providing expert guiding and tuition on a range of pristine and secluded waters, combined with the highest quality rods, reels, waders and boots enabled me to catch 20 trout (1-4 lbs) over 4 days. I would highly recommend Tasmania Fly Fishing to anyone, regardless of level, who wants to catch trout on a fly or nymph.

Simply cannot say enough about Scott and his team. My wife and I fished with him at Currawong Lakes, caught some fine fish with his always able guidance, and had a great day. He is competent, professional, and really good company to boot!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable experience with Tasmania Fly Fishing on the beautiful Nth Esk River. Owner, Scott Murphy is a good host and communicator and our guide Logan a knowledgeable teacher, tuned to the natural environment and the art of fly fishing. We caught and released brown trout thanks to his patience and skill, and enjoyed an excellent catered lunch.

I recently took a half day tour with Scott and had a fantastic time. Scott was extremely professional, knowledgeable and just a genuinely great guy. Whether you’re a local or visiting Tassie I’d highly recommend booking a tour with Tasmania Fly Fishing. Can’t wait to do it again soon

Scott is an amazing guide with some great hidden fishing spots. Our day on the river was spent with lots of laughs, great tips, and plenty of opportunities at land some fish.if I didn't keep dropping them. Would recommend!

I had a great experience with scott and he was very patient explaining everything on the tour!

I am and American and this was my first trip to Tasmania. It was in the spring and water level of many rivers was higher than usual, so Scott, my guide from Tasmania Fly Fishing, took me to the upper reaches of the South Esk river for the best conditions. It was one of the most beautiful stretches of river I have ever fished, an ideal size for wading and for dry fly/nymphing, wild and far from the crowds. Scott taught me upstream techniques using a 10' rod and long leader and how to spot where in the river the fish lie. Though I have experience in fly fishing, I learned a lot about how to catch brown trout. Scott was a wealth of knowledge and insight and really worked hard for me to be successful. In the end I caught my share, stopping counting after 10! I enjoyed my time tremendously, the fishing, the beauty of the surroundings, and chatting with this Tasmanian local about his fishing experiences. I strongly recommend him.

Had a wonderful day with Scott at Currawong Lakes. While water clarity wasn't ideal that day, Scott's expertise made sure we got onto fish and I achieved my slam (a fish in each of the three lakes).
