What a beautiful place to stay!
Heated amenities that were super clean, lovely walks, wildlife everywhere and so quiet. Just wonderful. We had everything we needed.
Who needs lots of shops around?
This place is an absolute credit to the owners. Thank you for our great stay.
I can’t say how much we really enjoyed our time there.
Was very happy with the price of $40 for the site, we paid on average $45 in other parks heading to this one.
(Can’t understand some of the negative feedback because they don’t deserve that)
Tarraleah is an amazing place to visit. So much history. We stayed one night in the scholar's house. It had a mezzanine lounge which was really cool and a well equipped share kitchen. Very nice. The next night we stayed in the cabins. That wasn't so good as the room was much smaller. Nowhere to put luggage at all. No fan. We really enjoyed our stay. Met the friendly highland cattle. Goats and lots of wildlife.
Clean, quiet and bed was comfortable.
Clear instructions given for after hours check in.
This is the 2nd time in 4 years stay here and will do so again.
Thank You
Quaint 1930's cottage, great fire, nice view across village square to the fountain. The gardens are lovely, plenty of beautiful flowers & trees. Highlander Arms restaurant, lovely meal, generous serve of beer battered pink ling, chips & salad. Plenty of native animals, but we missed seeing Fergus 'the Hairy Highlander Coo'.
Interesting history, plenty of information to read about the Hydro scheme from 1930's onwards. Nice friendly & helpful staff. Great place for a getaway.
Always a favourite place to stay when up in the lakes area. The hydro-period town has been adoringly restored and converted to one of the most beautiful villages on the island. I choose to stay in winter to avoid any crowd, and I always find that it's incredibly quiet and utterly peaceful. A true gem run by people who really love the place. A+ highly recommended.
Unless you have a specific reason to stay in Tarraleah I would give it a miss and spend more time in some of the more interesting places in the region. We stayed in one of the economy cabins and although very clean and comfortable, it was small.
If you stay here make sure you bring your own food, the restaurant closes at 3pm & there are no shops close by
We stayed in one of the deer cabins, there were no screens on any of the windows or doors, so couldn't open windows or leave door open to look at the wildlife, which was one of the redeeming features
The bed was rock hard
Would not recommend
Great little caravan park. Lovely easily accessible private grassed sites with power, water and sullage. Facilities are clean - great hot showers! Very peaceful surroundings, lots of wildlife (especially kangaroos). Access is via a gravel driveway (good condition) off the main highway. We enjoyed dinner at the Highlander Restaurant (we were fortunate for it to be open one night of our stay, not open every night) - limited meal choices but no complaints as food was delicious.
Recommend you give this caravan park a try if you’re looking for somewhere to stay near Lake St Clair or Mt Field National Parks.
OMG, what a beautiful, hidden gem. So serene and relaxing. Nothing to do but "feel the serenity"!
If all Caravan Parks where like this, we would be very happy campers, spotless clean facilities rooms and laundry, beautiful surrounds and gardens, fabulous lookout and walk. An abundance of local wild life roaming around, it's a hidden gem, only catch is no shops, neatest is 30km away, but a small price to pay for perfection. We loved it is an understatement. Honestly staying here was like being on a film set, if you get a chance stop.in even if it's just for a picnic.
Expensive without proper facilities! Rather just check the free camp site nearby, you probably get better camping facilities / set up there! Never come back again!
Snug little cabin even when temperature dropped below 0°. Great modern bathroom. Information book provided by owner was interesting and amusing. Friendly ducks and geese on site. Close to Tarraleah falls which is a relatively easy walk.
This one one of the best parks we stayed at. Quiet with individual drive through sites, amenities old but good.
The best cabin I have ever seen or stayed in. A magic place in the middle of nowhere. Loved the friendly cows. And the only place that I have seen a bumblebee on the flowers as big as your thumb nail.
