Tarraleah reviews
24OMG.what a pleasure to come across this gem. Amenities, service and price. 6 star living on a 3 star budget. Extremely welcoming to carvaners and guests.
We did not stay here. We found directions very lacking. Only parking we could find for caravan was at lookout. Tried to then drive to cafe (maybe 800m) but found it difficult to find park or even turn around. Did not do to cafe as was not easily accessible. Signage was very poor.
We stayed at the caravan park section of the accommodation. Great sized sites in various areas with power and water.
No Camp kitchen or cooking facilities.
Paid $56 for a family of 5
Beautiful highland cows and some friendly goats at the back that the kids enjoyed. Not really anything else for the kids there.but plenty of space.
Beautiful views across the grassy plains. Nice waterfall walk close by. Very quiet.
Lovely peaceful setting with lots of wildlife to see. Basic cabin was comfortable. Water that was drinkable was supplied. A little difficult to find at dusk. Enjoyable walks on property.
What a wonderful little place to stay. The cottages are beautifully presented and provided lots of space. We stayed in winter so the fireplace was well used. Reminded us a bit of the movie Pleasantville. Would gladly stay here again.
We visit Tarraleah every year as a big family group. We love the place as do all the kids. Such a special little town where we go ‘to live’ for a few days each with our own Self contained beautiful houses, we settle in and cook our own meals. Kids ride their bikes, pat the cows and see the ducks. They can’t wait for the annual trip! We even find time for a round of golf!
Interesting place to stay although a little hard to find after dark. Cottages were spacious with spectacular views out the back over the hills.
Satchet coffee was a minor detraction
A lovely place to stay. The cottages are gorgeous, spacious and comfortable. We had a family with three kids and it was great for us. Went on a beautiful easy walk to Tarraleah Falls and ate a yummy dinner at the Highlander Arms. We will definitely return.
Very large and comfy cottages. Keeping them authentic including furniture while making them very comfortable is brilliant. The cottages definitely have a soul. No reception, no cafeteria makes you feel quite isolated. Bring everything with you
We stayed one night in a superintendent's cottage that was exceptional. Beautifully restored and amazing views from the backyard. Highly recommended.
One of the nicest nights with a warm house waiting and big comfortable beds. I'd go again tomorrow
Couldn't speak more highly of this place, we stayed at the caravan park for a week, went touring each day to all the wonderful & interesting places around near here, absolutely fantastic experience
Scenery was great, being right in the wilderness, access rd was very bad would hate to do it at night or in bad weather due the extremely large potholes. Accomodation though clean was very small and not very function with uncomfortable furniture. Bring your own food unless you wish to take your chances with the one and only restaurent at site The Highlander which IS expensive.and it is to remote to drive down the road.
Accommodation from the Lodge to houses caravan camping and villas cabins. Food available but must book. Can self catering Golf course fishing biking all available on site
Built to accomodate the workers of the hydro power station, cottages are well maintained, comfortable and spaceous. Plenty of wildlufe in the surrounding woodlands and the sunrise view is killer.
The best cabins this side of anywhere. Meet the cows, see giant bumblebee's. All in amazing surrounds.
A lovely spot for a stop for a walk and coffee along a journey or to stay in a picturesque and peaceful location. Full of history and places to see. The cafe had excellent food and drinks at reasonable prices.
This is an amazing find. A beautifully restored town with cottages that have been renovated. Great interesting history.
Lovely spot, we will definitely be bringing our visitors there. Would love to visit when the snow is falling.
I am not sure where they get 5 star rating?
It’s ok, we stayed in scolarhouse which was like a school retreat house.
Comfy bed, nice towels etc but kettle is filthy, no towel racks, was pretty cold and average.
Staff are nice and friendly plus cafe is excellent.
I guess with air bnb popping up everywhere these hotels are becoming dated and a ‘care factor’ is needed if they want to survive.
