Tamar River Cruises reviews
55Knowledgeable commentary. Friendly. Giving a view of the river, the gorge and Launceston that you can't get elsewhere.
Absolutely wonderful cruise. Staff were amazing, great commentary.
Morning tea & lunch provided…would definitely go again…
A great experience cruising into Cataract Gorge. Learn something interesting things about the history and recent developments of the area
Was a lovely trip and staff are so friendly and welcoming plus told us the history of the area, was very interesting, had a great time
Excellent cruise to check out host very friendly and informative spectacular sights on either side of river. Put on your list while visiting Launceston.
Great experience, very informative commentary, another part of the historical jigsaw that is Tasmania, very highly recommended.
If your only in Launceston for a short time, take the 50 minute river and gorge cruise.nice and relaxing, with great staff and good value
We enjoyed the 4 hour cruise up the Tamar to Batman Bridge.
Very informative from the skipper on Launceston’s history.
Comfortable boat, great morning tea, satisfying lunch, and some great wines and beers to taste.
You must do this!
What a lovely afternoon spent cruising on this boat. Our skipper was very informative & first mate was very friendly & helpful with afternoon tea & wine tasting. The weather was perfect also. Thanks for making our stay in Launceston a memorable one. Highly recommend.
If you are visiting Launceston and you plan to visit the Cataract Gorge (highly recommended) then I would suggest that you also include one of the Tamar River Cruises. We chose to do the Cataract River Adventure 50 minute cruise. At a very reasonable cost of $35 for an adult ticket, we silently glided through parts of the river flowing through the Gorge and enjoyed the absolute tranquility. The cruises depart from Home Point, adjacent to a rugby oval. Our cruise captain was both friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The experience proved to be one of the highlights of our trip to Launceston
We enjoyed a 1 hour cruise up and down the river with the captain identifying the sites along the river and the history of the valley. Great ride!
I did this cruise with my parents. It was beautiful and relaxing, all the staff were friendly and welcoming and I was provided gluten free options for morning tea (I'm coeliac).
My only feedback is that the historical commentary should ideally include some information about traditional custodians of the area. I also don't believe that there was acknowledgement of Kanamaluka (I might be mistaken).
Thoroughly enjoyed our 50 minute cruise today. Great guide who was full of information; as well as friendly office staff. A lovely afternoon.
Perfect, calm beautiful day with added bonus of Australian fur seals, great captain. Definitely going to go and do the lunch trip next. Would do this one again too
We enjoyed a great 2.5 hour afternoon cruise with included afternoon tea, and wine and beer tasting.
The staff were all fantastic, friendly and helpful. The information about the area was really interesting, and we were pleased that they reminded everyone before we headed off to be respectful and not talk over the guide. They also provided hand sanitiser and sunscreen.
The food provided was very nice, including delicious gluten free chocolate biscuits! There was a selection of sweet snacks and fruit, with free tea and coffee. You could also buy other drinks if you wanted. They had a selection of wines for the tasting session, and provided a free fruit juice for those of us who weren't drinking alcohol, which was very nice of them.
The boat itself was clean and comfortable, and the staff were wiping down surfaces frequently.
The captain of the Lady Launceston was very knowledgeable of the history that had happened and the river cruise was enjoyable and informative. Overall a pleasant experience.
We had an awesome trip today with skipper Brad
He was very interesting to listen to with his local knowledge of the area
The Tamar river cruise was fantastic. There was audio introduction throughout to the places we were seeing. Even had wine tasting in the process. View was of course good. Very smooth, didn’t get sea sick. Crew was welcoming and helpful.
NO DISABLED PARKING!
Paid parking
Didn't like any of 3 wines or 1 of beer.
Wonderful short cruise with a knowledgeable skipper. Learnt a lot of history and got to see Cataract Gorge rapids in all their glory. Recommended.
