Tamar Island Wetlands Centre reviews
51Great place for anyone visiting Launceston. It's heavenly during sunset period. Strongly recommend walking up to the hill at he end for the views.
Great walk, the information centre has animals from the area. Plenty of wildlife to see and hear. At the entry to the visitor centre is a donation box and map.
Beautiful walk. Enjoy spotting birds and a marshland walk just in the middle of Launceston
A fantastic walk with excellent views of the estuary and it's surrounds. Bird life abounds and the occasional mammals feeding by the boardwalk.
Well set out and an nice walk but apart from swans, ducks and hens not many birds around last few visits.
Bit ordinary, makes for a good walk but if you are pressed for time and don't get to see it you don't miss much.
Awesome walk! Lots of birds to see, walk is 1.5km one way, 3 bridges to walk across to main island where u can have a BBQ or picnic! Watch out for snakes as we saw one on our walk near walkway, it hi-tailed back into the scrub! Totally good walk!
Got there after the centre closed but a lovely staff member who was leaving pointed out a swamphen to us. The walk at 5pm+ was enjoyable. I got to see my favorite superb fairy wren! The leaflets left outside the centre was also comprehensive.
U will like it if u r nature and photo lover. Explore wet lands with different grass species and animal which are hard to see.
Kids love this place. They can see some kinds of birds, ducks, black swans, swarmp harrier, white bellied sea eagle, wedge-tailed eagle, white face heron,
Enjoyed the visit and getting a photo of the superb fairy wren made my year being a hopeless birder
It's beautiful island. Not many people, which is great. I took 1.5 hours rout walks enjoyed a lot with the view.
The walk out to Tamar Island was so relaxing and the scenery is beautiful.
Make sure you go early morning before 10am before it gets to busy
Very beautiful natural
Need a binoculars =)
Catch a bus from CBD if you don't drive (me)
The wetlands is an amazing place to go if you are in Launceston. The centre was closed when we got there. The boardwalk was long and there was a lot of animals in the river such as swans.

The information centre was lovely and the staff very friendly and informative. The walk is about 1.5km each way but worth the visit. We had a lovely winter's day. Saw loads of birds and you can even have a BBQ on Tamar Island. There are also toilets on the Island.
This is a great place for a spot of bird watching, a great walk, views of the Tamar or a picnic on Tamar Island. The walk is well set up with a handy paper guide to the wetlands and bird species. There is no toilet until you get onto the island but once you've found them they are clean and regulalry serviced.
