Suwan Thai Restaurant reviews
75Went there for late lunch as usual. A Thai girl at the counter told us they don’t do afternoon hours anymore in a rude way. What a shame! Won’t go back anymore.
The girl at the counter was answering in a rude way even when I asked a simple question as 'counter or table service? ' We just left, it's a shame cause someone recommended to me this place for the good food.
The food is PERFECT. I hope it will stay same quality always. My friends and I with high praises for this restaurant and the owner. Highly recommended
Ordered Pad See Ew, and Cashew Vegetables.
Both were watery and very bland. Rice noodles had no flavour
Portions were to small hence overpriced. Good flavour though. Delivery for takeaway was slow. Onerall not impressed
Was very nice cozy place to visit many selection and also nice fire place. There were bus where you can have your eat and drink
Great food, good service, tables can be a bit close when busy, great food we eat there fortnightly
Not bad food by any means, it just wasnt very good. Portion sizes were good for both Pad Thai and Beef fried rice. Both beef and chicken were overcooked though and the Pad Thai was abnormally sweet, couldn't finish it off as the sweetness was a bit overpowering.
Really nice people though, price was fair for the quality of the meal.
Delicious Thai food in Salamanca market. Their Pad Thai and crispy fish basil n chilli fried rice is very tasty. Must try if you are in Hobart looking for a good Thai food.
The food is average but the service is appalling. We struggled to get takeaway within walking distance of Salamanca on Sunday night and we found this place online. We tried calling and someone picked up the phone and immediately disconnected. We called again and the number was completely disconnected. We decided to walk up there and mentioned this to the girl (the name appeared on our receipt as Fiona) who said she had turned off the phone as they couldn’t keep up. We found this to be extremely rude considering she actually answered the first time. On arrival, the restaurant was about 2/3 full. We were advised it would be a 20 minute wait for food and they’d call when it was ready. 40 minutes later, we returned (because we couldn’t call) and the food was sitting on the counter. Really bad.
Hidden away in a Mall, best Thai food I’ve had in years. Ordered an extra serve of peanut satay sauce it was that good.
We had dinner at Suwan tonight and it was amazing! Everything we ordered from the mixed entree to the curry and coconut rice was delicious! I especially loved the Tom Yum soup! One of the best I’ve ever had! Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a good Thai in Hobart!
We dined in and got there just on 6pm when it seemed very quiet. However, the restaurant filled quickly and we realised why - the food was delicious and the service was friendly & prompt. Particularly enjoyed Panang Chicken and the Lui Suwan. Great meal!
Was surprised with the range and flavour of the food, well presented and great to eat. This was my nth time back, will keep going!
This is my first time visit Suwan Thai, I’m indeed impressed to find this high quality Thai in Tassie.
Im a huge fan of pad Thai, had it all the time when I was in Bangkok. The pad Thai of suwan Thai is the first one I have had on this island so far really close to what I had in Thailand.
We love the Tom Yam soup too, we cannot stop from drinking that, their chefs are definitely good at seasoning and know well about Thai cuisine.
Though the mango sticky rice is quite expensive, $15, the portion is satisfactory. I cannot emphasis enough how surprise am I when I find the sticky rice have the same taste as I had back to Thailand. However, the texture of the rice is a bit too runny, and the mango is too sour (I cannot blame the restaurant on this) in the standard of Thai dessert.
Overall, we had a wonderful Thai dinner today, will visit again for sure!
I went along with my wife and couple friends the service seating taking the order very slow the food took so long entrees and main course were served together cold food and very average quality after spending more than $200 asked for a take away container they insisted cost of the container 50 cents said the rude boss over all very pricey not good quality or service
Very disappointing.
Best Thai food in Hobart with a lunch special menu that can't be beat! I highly recommend this hidden gem in Salamanca, frequented by locals and tourists alike!
I was craving a Laksa. If you search for ‘laksa’ in the reviews a lady named Roz very articulately described the experience of eating a laksa from here. The rest of our meal was average.
Great lunchtime food, tasty and spicy, lots of chicken and veg in the Thai Red Curry dish! Veggie options as well.
As soon as I sat down I remember why I don't like this place anymore, the service is bad bad bad, especially the main server Pear, roll her eyes to us the whole time. There's so many other places around, don't bother. I mean this place use to be great, I am not sure if they switched owners but it has gone down hill from food to SERVICE. VERY DISAPPOINTED I use to love this restaurant. I won't be back for good now.
