Stanley Recreation Ground reviews
14Great place to camp in your Self contained RV, wish they had a no generator rule, as you may be unlucky enough to have one next to you as we did on one occasion
Wow, great spot to camp at the historic town of Stanley. Self contained ONLY.
Windy, but there are trees between us & beach. Heaps of room, but it gets busy, so get in early.
$10 a night or $50 for 7 nights. Own site allocation.
The friendly volunteer lady comes around 5pm to collect $$. For those wanting power & water, go pay the $75 a night next door at Big 4 Park.
Dump point & bins, public toilets are along beach front.
Park your vehicle & walk or ride a bicycle everywhere. Close to grocery store, main street, viewing the Penguins (near cemetery) & easy walk to climb The Nut mountain.
Nice spot for a market, a very small market tho unfortunately, I hope it grows bigger in time, perhaps smithton being a much larger place would be a better place for a market & atract more attension if there was a regular one in smithton itself.
Great community based, low cost camp. No facilities except water points and dump point.toilets a short walk as is the town.
A bit dusty and windy but no issues for us.
The caretaker comes to collect $10 nightly fee and they are very friendly people.
Always a pleasure to stop here, friendly people, safe & convenient.
Water, garbage & dump point.
Supurb views.
Windy af.
Fantastic job on the layout.
But more outdoor seating would be appreciated.
Super unfriendly and unprofessional ground manager. Sign mentioned freedom camping and fees which we were ready to pay but when we arrived back to our tent site the lady proceeded to be incredibly rude and to kick us out. She made us point out the sign to her, clearly unaware of what her own sign said. We obviously paid for the one night we stayed but were super disappointed, as three respectful young women, to be kicked out in such an unkind manner at 5 o clock on a public holiday with no where else to stay. We had good intentions and paid for less space than an RV would take up, contributed to Stanley’s economy by eating out and unfortunately because of behaviour like this will not be returning: (
$10.00 per night. Self contained camp. Has a dump point and you can fill up your water tanks here
Beautiful spot right by the beach. Lovely lady from the golf club collected the $10 fee around 5pm. Dump point, bins and water all provided on site.
I am not sure that it warrants $10 a day however it was great to fill up our water and dispose of our rubbish. Lovely and clean.
A really good spot to stay, within walking distance to the town and the Nut. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there even if it got a bit breezy the last 3x days. Oh and finally got to see and hear the penguins
Nice grassed area, good views position no shelter, pity the club house did not open there toilets to campers like Coles Bay does
For RV/Caravanere is a great place, short walk to safe beach, golf club, town centre. Inexpensive $8/night must be self contained water is available.
Went to the 109th Stanley Show at these grounds this year and enjoyed every bit of a real country show experience - thank you to the organisers
