Stanley Hotel & Apartments reviews
51It was a gorgeous room, very clean, very comfy bed and pillows. The staff were lovely, and on our arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist. We loved our stay and wished we could have stayed a few more days. Would highly recommend the Stanley Hotel for anyone, who needs accommodation. We will be returning.
Dropped in for a drink today. A schooner plus a small Chardonnay $25.50. You’ve got to be joking. Was it because we look like tourists? I struggle to believe that local folk are paying that. You’re just a pub, yet you’re charging more for a couple of drinks than almost anywhere else I’ve been in Australia. We won’t be back.
Loved the room we stayed in comfortable for the night and would of liked to stay longer.
Food was of good quality in the restaurant and staff were amazing!
Underwhelming meal at the restaurant. A pie that was average. Cold chips which slid off plate when delivered as waitress hurried away. Two pepper pots instead of salt & pepper. A flat soda. No further drinks offered.
Was originally seated in the back corner which is really awful for a woman on her own but relocated myself out to the balcony to enjoy the sunset.
Please rethink your standards of service.
Amazing food and awesome staff. I love this place. It's the sole reason I keep coming back to Stanley.
Had a meal here as staying elsewhere. Couldn’t fault the service and staff were very welcoming and attentive. Had the seafood platter for one and the scotch fillet. Could not fault it. Close to the best steak I’ve ever had. All food was amazing. Highly recommended.
A very nice hotel, with modern refurbished rooms. But it kept its old vibe. The food was absolutely delicious.
Unfortunately our booking was messed up and they had to move us to the front bar for dinner but the staff were apologetic and the recovery was good. Meals were tasty but quite expensive.
We came to the Stanley Hotel last night for dinner as we were staying there for the night. We had the special bread for entree, one of the scallop pot pies and also the curry. My friend is vegetarian and we were very disappointed by the vegetarian options, there was only one which was the curry. Really not good enough only having the one option. I had the scallop pie which while it was decent, I certainly would not pay $29 for a small, underfilled pie which was only served with salad ever again. The portions of our meals definitely did not match the price and we left hungry and quite disappointed. However staff were incredibly friendly and attentive and we enjoyed our entree.
Expensive food, slow service. Overcharged for drinks that were never purchased. Staff member also dropped a glass of water directly on one of our diners. They were unapologetic dropping this and didn’t help to clean up the mess.
We had to wait an hour before someone would even take our food order! They have some kind of policy about people who have not made a prior booking not being allowed to order food for a long time - something to do with the kitchen. This was never explained to us - we were just left hanging and waiting and waiting for ages! We had menus given too us, so will assumed we could order.
We made contact with wait staff several times, and they were polite but did not explain that they have a policy which prevented us from placing an order. We wondered what was going on. It remined me of the TV show "Faulty Towers", actually.
I did tell the staff that we were disappointed with the service, at the end of the night. They didn't seem apologetic, although they listened politely. I wondered where management was in all this and wondered if our comments/suggestions ever got through to someone in charge. Very disappointed.
No air conditioning and couldn’t keep the windows open, so it was very hot and stuffy. The water pressure and temperature was very inconsistent. Lots of flies as well. The bistro was incredible though, great food and vibe.
Had lobster and chicken. Nothing special. Prices high. Service adequate. We challenged 2 expensive drinks we didn't have and were refunded without apology. The feature of this town is the view; not the food or hospitality. Nothing special, again
Food was average and totally overpriced. Very disappointing.
Service in the other hand was great for a pub.
The bistro staff were fantastic! However the food was pricey and average.
We moved to the front bar for a drink after dinner where local patrons get priority service, they crowd the bar on stools. In some respects I totally get it, they’re there so often, and it’s great that it’s so full of locals and busy with business, but it’s a bit tricky for the tourists. I am a tourist so just offering up some advice - if the bar was half stools and half service it could work for everyone. A disappointing experience.
Lovely place to stay. Nookies and crannies, narrow stairs and definitely feels authentically rural hotel, eclectic with original rooms.
Nice fridge, jug, iron coffee and tea basics with ample milk provided. Toiletries, heater a little hard without thermostat but opening window with matching block of wood was perfect. Didnt try the tempting restaurant downstairs, but menu and atmosphere looked great. Easy checkout, great off road parking, and my service dog was made welcome.
It was a gorgeous room, very clean, very comfy bed and pillows. The balcony off our room was great to use despite the rain as it is protected. The staff were lovely. We loved our stay and will be back!
We had a really nice stay here, at the old hotel. The rooms have been bought up to a modern standard & have very thick walls, so it was nice & quiet. We had a seafood tasting plate for tea, it was divine! & the t bone chocolate milk stout I can recommend. The service was excellent & prices reasonable. Well done!
We were 4 happy people leaving after a great dinner from entree till dessert.
The place was packed because of the scarcity of eateries in September. The staff had their hands full and how the chef's dealt with the orders, I don't know but the food was perfectly prepared and the vibe was amazing. You heard people chatting, laughing and having fun.
Kind regards.
Jan.
We didn't stay at the pub but we did have dinner there one evening. The Seafood Malfaldine was bland, luke warm and did not have the advertised seafood in it. The scotch fillet was OK but way overpriced for what it was. Venue was good and service was OK. Overall, and given it was not very busy, it was a disappointing experience.
