Southport Lagoon Campground reviews
9 Beautiful lagoon be great for fishing if you don't mind a very bumpy ride in and launching your boat by hand.
Good toilet facilities. No wood available.
High access track, fairly rough but easy to drive. 8 or so camp sites, most with firepits. Take your own wood in as it is a national Park. Toilets are fine, sites are a bit rough if you are in a tent or swag but there are areas to set up. Lagoon is nice and stays fairly sheltered in the camp sites themselves.
4wd access only. 4km from main road. Track may be closed in bad weather, etc. 10 campsites, all reasonably flat and spacious. 2 good clean toilet blocks. Very rocky, no beach, no good swimming or fishing. Good to kayak with shallow sheltered water. Sandy bottom accessible by kayaking to left of boat ramp. 3 campsites have fireplaces. No walking tracks or other activities. Really nice place to sit and relax though.
If you're keen on fishing and have 4WD, definitely give it a go. Otherwise I wouldn't bother. There are plenty of other much nicer spots in Tasmania to visit.
Was so nice, it’s a rocky road that you need SUV, otherwise wouldn’t be able to get there. It’s a good thing about it because nobody was there on Christmas holiday which is not something you can find anywhere else. Two clean public toilets are there. The fire pit was so good, we were able to put our pan on it and cook our oyster easily.
Awesome spot for camping had it all to ourselves. Toilets clean and non smelly for long drops. Running water thou to wash. 4x4 track to come in, wasn't as 4x4 as noted, a few rocky bits where high clearance would be needed. During winter and after rain would be a differnt track. Only hand launching of boats into the lagoon.
Facilities very good it just in the wrong place. Don't bother going unless you have a boat.
The track in is not to difficult for a vehicle with some ground clearance but it is rocky all the way and slow going. It took us around 40 minutes each way
