Sandy Bay Bakery & Cafe reviews
18 Service was nice and quick. Adequate staff to serve even when busy. Ordered pie and milkshake, and received with table service within 5 minutes. Nice and large milkshake. Pie from pie-oven was warm, not hot. Taste/texture was okay.
Other options on their shelves was a very good range of bread, cakes, biscuits, and with salad rolls/toasted sandwiches made to order.
Fairly simple decor, and local hole in the wall feeling. Clean and tidy seating areas. The staff were happy and prompt to cater to request for water refill. No bathroom.
May come again.
This is a Sandy Bay institution that has been a hit with locals for decades. Wonderfully fresh food and great people. Nothing much ever changes - it's just excellent.
Lovely food, everything is perfect, and the taste is nicely balanced. Lamington and sponge cake is really nice, we went back the other day to get more.
Nice staff, but over priced and quite frankly well below standard (mince/mush filled) pies - left feeling dissapointed.
Service from friendly Korean staff. There are many types of pies and desserts, and the perfect apple slice when something sweet is craving.
Because the interior is not fancy or sophisticated like a cooking lab, people may like or dislike it.
Excellent coffee and I had a superb curried chicken and veg pie. It's a pity that I didn't live closer.
This bakery is a staple in Sandy Bay. Owned by the same Family for many years, they provide good service, good food, and are in the heart of Sandy Bay shops.
My favourite city bakery/café for lunch. So reliable re quality of food and service from staff. Always yesterday's specials to go at reduced cost and always room to sit and watch S'Bay go by. Salads to write home about and pastries quiche pies of good quality. Treat yourself.

I'm not a local but I really loved this bakery. A great coffee and muffin combo for about $7-$8. We visited this bakery everyday during lockdown because I enjoyed they're takeaway coffee so much (and it was only 500m away so part of our 'daily' exercise ;).
Recommended but if you want a fancy interior maybe go elsewhere like Daci & Daci down the road.
A pleasant little bakery. Clean, obliging staff. Take away or eat in or tables on the pavement. Wide range of bakery foods and sandwiches and rolls are freshly made to order.
Love this bakery! Delicious pies, bread, pastries, quiches, and sandwiches. There's nothing like home made food, friendly staff, and super affordable prices.
The food in this shop is incredible. Also, the price is very reasonable. In addition, their service are unbiased and pleasant. I like the cake since it is not that sweet. It is just an ordinary looking shop and you might miss it when passing by but it really deserves a try.
Great food at incredible prices. It's everything you ever wanted in a bakery plus the day old brake goods specials are always there for a penny pincher. The rum balls are tassie's best!
I come here for the delicious APPLE SLICES and FRUIT BUNS reminiscent of my childhood. As is the whole place - an "original" suburban bakery.
P. S.be early for the apple slices.
This bakery is a good set up. Good price friendly service and value for your buck. I have also made large orders in the past which have always been delivered on time.
This would be the best bakery in Sandy Bay 10/10. Beautiful food freshly baked every day. Very friendly and welcoming staff.
Went here for a couple of salad boxes, quiche and takeaway teas a couple of days ago. The quiche and salad boxes were delicious. The tea wasn’t great - it was too milky and the cup was so hot you couldn’t hold it!
Anyway, the salad boxes were so good, we decided to go back the next day and ordered 4 more. However this time we got far less in them - no olives, avocado and generally less salad. It was really disappointing as they’re not cheap at $10 each. What made it worse was that they said they’d run out of wooden takeaway knives so we had to eat it with just a fork that day!
