Salt Box Hideaways

Make sure you read their website about the history of this place. The exterior of the shed looks old and apparently couldn’t be updated due to its heritage status. The interior was tastefully designed. Its size is small - be prepared. Harbour view was good and east aspect attracts a good amount of sunlight. Along the river bank, there are a number of ducks always roaming around. The tucked away location is quiet - the most you will hear is probably the ocean. We didn’t mind but we know some other guests had issues with the bed being against two walls. Overall still worth staying here as long as you know what you are getting into.

This accommodation offers stunning views, cosy vibes and the most relaxing time. We loved all the small details from the port to enjoy at night, to the cosy electric fire and the comfiest bed that felt like a cloud. There is also a complimentary breakfast included which was so thoughtful. We can’t wait to visit again for a longer time. Thanks so much for having us stay and can’t wait to be back:)

Top marks. This is one excellent little place to stay. We stayed in unit 91 (AirBNB) and it was fantastic. Excellent design and well thought out use of a small space. Really, I can't speak highly enough of this one. Locationwise, it's brilliant. 2 mins away from the centre of Strachan and right on the water. Sadly it was raining the night we stayed or we would have loved the outdoor fireside sitting area.

What a gem. You will be delighted when you enter this hideaway. We stayed in Saltbox 1. Make sure you book at least 2 nights to soak up the serenity. Breakfast included. Best accommodation during our 2 week trip around Tassie.

The location was interesting and about a 5 minute drive from Strahan. The shack we stayed in didn't have any views of the water and was quite small, so I'd recommend getting a water view if available.

Perfect little hideaway. Enjoyed the visit from the local ducks upon arrival and departure. Very scenic.

Picture perfect location. Quiet, but still close to the town centre. They thought of and cater for everything! Loved our stay.
