Salmon Ponds and the Museum of Trout Fishing reviews
53The adventure park was not open but the accommodation was amazing. Looks like so much fun.
Beautiful.just wish fish that size would jump on my fishing rod was a lovely way to have a relaxing afternoon
This is a must for adults and children, absolutely the best example of a historical museum dedicated to inland fishing. Fantastic displays and great restaurant. Friendly staff and knowledgeable.
A nice stop pm the way to Mt Field. The place is very well maintained with varieties of trees. You can also feed fish food to salmon and trouts.
A fun activity, particularly with kids.
Entry fees was 6-7$/person.
Well maintained property. This is a hatchery with many exotic trees and a few ponds showcasing different types of trout, as well as one type of salmon. Visitors also get access to barbecue facilities. Good place for a family to spend the day. Kids would also be able to feed the fish for $2. Admission for adult is $8 and you get free entrance to the museum.
Lovely historic and tranquil place. Feeding the trout and salmon in the ponds was most enjoyable.
Definitely not worth the $8 admission fee. The place isnt well maintained and lacks clear information. Definitely at the bottom of your Tasmania travel list.
Dropped in for a coffee and hot chocolate. Prompt and friendly service and both drinks were to our liking.
Can’t speak for the museum as we didn’t visit.
Seeing the trout crowd around the water flowing into the pond, attempting to swim upstream but unable to, was a bit of a sad sight.
A beautiful tranquil space. Well maintained gardens with a lot of history and a great place to relax and escape the busy world outside while you feed the fish. Not to mention the good coffee and very tasty pancakes in the licensed Cafe.
Excellent experience.
What a great find this was on our holiday!
The kids were delighted by all the fish splashing as they threw the food in.
The grounds are gorgeous and so relaxing!
We also enjoyed a morning tea at the cafe there. It was a really lovely time.
Fantastic place to visit.fish look great dissapointed Platypus didnt show up.but it is a wild animal after all! Fantastic for picnic or eat in. Fantastic history and gteat museum
Very picturesque…. Salmon and trout ponds…you can feed the fish for $2 extra…plenty of car park
Great day out, fresh air, places to picnic or BBQ, $2 for fish food. Extremely reasonable entrance fees. Lively fish. Pancakes are delectable. If you are into the history of trout fishing etc, lots of information.
Lovely friendly staff, still looking for the salmon. Heaps of trout, but no see salmon. Reasonably priced food and drinks.
Lovely gardens and museum. For an extra $2, you can get food to feed the salmon- great for kids and adults alike!
Lots of great information about the history of the area and fishing as well. Well worth a visit!
Very nice place to come to by yourself, or even better, with your friends! Can be a bit of a long drive if you live in or near the city. The food was amazing, bit expensive though. Still loved it though!
Pancake extravaganza.yummy.buy pellets to feed fish.jumping salmon.sunny trees. BBQ facilities too.take all day.
Great little place to stop for a meal. First time having salmon in a crape but was delicious. Views from the restaurant didn't disappoint either. The owner gave us two deserts for our road trip due to us coming close to closing time. Highly recommended!
