Lunch here was wonderful. The staff were great and the meals couldn't be faulted. They have great Seniors Meals which is what we had at a great price. Definitely recommend calling in there.

We came for dinner with our 4 children, AMAZING food, AMAZING service from the ladies there however I found the old man (can't remember his name) a little bit rude not sure if it was because it was busy but hecould have used his manners while serving and not been so cranky, he also needs to re think how to make his cocktails, I ordered a sex on the beach and I swear it was all ice and orange juice I don't think there was no vodka at all in there however apart from that amazing service and we didn't have to wait long at all for our food especially with it being so busy

Delicious food and excellent service. The meal portions were extremely generous and the prices are extremely budget friendly. They have lots of appetising specials on the board too which are highly recommended.

Stayed here for a few nights. Room was relatively clean and the beds are reasonably comfortable. There is a bit of traffic noise from the main road and the hot water is almost non existent, hot water ran out after the first minute leaving me with soapy hair, had to rinse off with cold water on an already cold winter morning. This could be due to multiple guests using the hot water at the same time. Service and staff were friendly and very polite.
There is a bistro and gaming room on the premises, the bistro has a very good selection of food that is well priced and the meals were of a high standard.
Breakfast was served to our room and was nice, two eggs, two toasts and a decent amount of bacon.
All in all this is a decent place to stay that won't break the bank. Close to town so getting around was easy.

We arrived for lunch without a booking. Despite being quite busy, the staff were friendly and accommodating. We ordered using the QR code system, which was simple and easy to use (and we received a free garlic bread for using this ordering method). The meals were great! Good pub meals and reasonably priced. The staff were all lovely and our waitess, Karina, was fantastic! Thanks so much

The meals were great sized, good value and the scotch steak was cooked perfectly. Definitely a good feed!

Second time dining at the Riverside Hotel. Second time steak has been overcooked and dry.
Tonight as my meal I ordered the roast of the day. Roast Pork. No crackle, extremely dry and discoloured. Peas and corn both almost the same colour and appeared to have been sitting out all day.
When asked how our meal was, I told staff it seemed the roast had been sitting out all day. They replied ‘well yeah it has been since this morning’ and walked away.

The food is good, standard pub meals. The steaks are tasty but sometimes overdone. I have enjoyed using the me&u app as you can choose, order and pay for all food and drinks on your phone. Plus there is a free garlic bread for ordering via the app.

When staying in Launceston we generally like to plan a visit to the riverside hotel for a meal. What has happened to the service there? Very bad. Staff seem rude and abrupt. When seated we were asked to order using the barcode provided on tables. We do not like this option as it just doesn't feel secure. However, after being asked to use this option I noticed two tables next to us were receiving sit down table service. How is it that you ask people to use barcodes provided but then offer table service? Do we need to request table service? We would much prefer this option after all it is personal choice right? Another thing which really stood out was how friendly and helpful the wait staff were to these tables who were ordering from a menu! Something screams favouritism here with the locals perhaps? When my chicken schnitzel arrived it was tough and chewy. Nobody cleared the plates or asked how our meals were. Very disappointing and we will be giving this place a miss from now on. It was a great place 12 months ago and friendly staff. That is not the case.

Stayed here many times with no problems but this tim I rang through to order dinner and was told that they won’t take phone orders as I had to conform to there me&u phone tap technology or barcode scan technology or walk down and order and walk back down and get dinner and take it back to my room as all I wanted to do was speak to someone to make miner modifications to my dinner As iam not a new age phone fiddler type I ordered Italian from a restaurant delivered which was superb, so guy’s you’ve technologe’d me away this time so I’ll be looking next time somewhere else as I Like to ask about the meal as most of us do and change it for my taste and not be firmly told to use there technology or walk down and order, what ever happened to good old fashioned service.

Good honest pub food at a very reasonable price, but I always ask for the salad without dressing- theirs doesn't make any sense!

Very very poor experience, below average food.

First, they had nothing on their menu for Vegetarians. We asked, was told we can have a veggie burger. It was the only option available! When we said, is that the only option, she pregnant waitress just shrugged and said yes! We just looked at each other to say “wow”. It’s really annoying and disappointing so many places won’t cater for vegetarians. With so many option to add to a menu, there are actually people who eat meat will choose a vegetarian dish at times if given the options.

Anyways, the patty was mushy inside it. Crispy on the outside because it was deep fried. Was given a small side of chips. The bun was your typical tiptop style bun. Paid extra $2 each for cheese and egg, the egg was hard fried! Worst burger I’ve ever eaten! Couldn’t even eat it all it was that bad! I could have made it better at home! We had an entree of the veggie spring rolls. Basically nothing in them. Just pastry. These were clearly frozen cheap veggie spring rolls thrown into a deep fryer!

The meal took almost an hour to our table from ordering. We were ready to get up and leave. Service was below average too, the ladies weren’t friendly, they were just a matter of fact attitude. It wasn’t that busy in there. Heaps of free tables.

The drink was the only nice thing.

Will we return? No, they need to have more friendly staff. They need to add a few more vegetarian options to the menu.

My advice, don’t waste your money. Find another venue. There are actually better places to go.

Added comment in reply to Riversides management Response:

Management states they have a variety of Vegetarian Options! The menu said otherwise and so did the waitress, your waitress did not provide any vegetarian options except the veggie burger. To offer a salad or soup in a restaurant for vegetarians is an insult. Why not just say Vegetarians can only be entitled to rabbit leaves! So narrow minded. Such an after thought. You say “not limited to” your waitress advised us differently.

As I mentioned she offered the burger only and told us with a shrug that was all they had as a vegetarian option. But it’s not her fault what’s on the menu or what is on offer. Really, we should have just left at this point.

Regards to Riverside manager calling, the number was not recognised so it went straight to voicemail. Besides, I’m not really sure what else I can say. I do appreciate your response and attempts at an apology.

I’m well aware about Covid and staff restrictions, I’m from Victoria, even with the restrictions we faced here, we don’t have to wait almost an hour for food. Thank you for reminding me of Covid related problems, I wasn’t aware ‍️ Besides, it was not even busy! There were two other tables with people on them when we were ordering. But I do appreciate your effort on trying to explain your staffs actions or lack of.

May I say, it would’ve been more effective and appropriate, if you simply apologised and let me know your business will try better for future customers. Just saying. ‍️ My response here would not have been needed.

Just another side reference, I mentioned the Riverside Hotel to some Tassy residents, their response was “Omg, why did you go there! ”

I’ve added a copy of the menu for peoples reference.certainly not even slightly catered for “all types of dietary requirements! ”

Lazy waiter who couldn't even be bothered to clear our starter dishes. Ordered chicken breast with salad and got a soggy pressed schnitzel with lettuce dressed with bottle dressing. Counter meal quality food and substandard service. Overpriced pub substandard food. But great wine list though.

To start with the meals we’re good, but to be told by one staff member to hurry up an order as we were already 15 mins late. This was at 6.45 and our booking was for 6.30, then she came to our table and gave us a lecture on our to make our booking next year. (A group of friends have been meeting there every year on the first Tuesday of Dec for annual catch-up for approx 25 years) according to this young lass you must have to order your meal as soon as you walk in……Must say we all felt disrespected

I came in recently on a rare trip to Launceston from Hobart.
It is very family friendly with the excellent play area.
My young son has a severe allergy to egg. Upon questioning if there was anything on the kids menu that was egg free, we discovered none of it was safe for him to have. The chef offered to cook him anything from the main menu as a kids meal, and he chose the grilled fish which he loved. Such amazing service.
My chicken parmy was delicious also.
We will definitely come back.

Perfect place to stop. Rooms are clean as pictured online. Great beds, shower is a bit meh but enough to get you clean. Smart tv in room with Stan, Netflix etc. The meals in the pub are great and not too expensive. Pub is clean with plenty of seating. Staff are lovely and willing to help. Staff showed they were great with kids too. Enough parking but can fill fast as seen around dinner time. Free wifi for guests. Kids have there own little play area inside the bistro. Kids meals are well portioned. Woolies is 2 mins down the road and town is only about 10 mins both by car.
