Red Velvet Lounge reviews
65 Stopped there for lunch during our holiday. Beautiful local people, nice food, and cold beer.
Amazing atmosphere.
Your choices for food are limited, find it best for a quick coffee and slice with a chat with friends.
I waited until I attended the Old Bank Cafe prior to writing this review for comparison.
Both Cafes attended in the area have potential, yet I found the food here on the day more enjoyable and appropriately priced.
However, the two coffees I had were both far too hot. If people want it extra hot it should be requested please. This influenced the overall food score as coffee is important in a Cafe dining experience. Food 3.5 overall.
The lady that appeared to be running the place was lovely and had an impressive work ethic.
I will give this place another go.
Good atmosphere. Average food - maybe we're spoilt in SE Queensland with great restaurants?
Dropped in for sweets because the local ‘Little Lush Cakerie’ was closed and the person working in the shop next door recommended their sweets as a good alternative.
Nice casual but cozy atmosphere with wood fire, consistently busy (but not overwhelmingly so) as my second time in the area.
Had a raspberry sherbet doughnut and was very nice with delicious tang from the sherbet.
Companions had the gingerbread cake with cream and said was pretty good but a bit dry. Also had the florentines which were so good they ordered a second.
Asked the staff if they make all their own sweets and they confirmed they do. Nice to see they look to have all their own preserves/pickles on display so I imagine they make all that themselves too which is nice.
Staff were friendly but coffees took a long time (10 mins) and were just alright - I think they may have been short staffed though which could have been the cause.
Everything else (savouries, breakfast, lunch etc) on the menu looked very yummy. Would happily have brunch their next time.
Worth dropping in if your in the area.
Delicious food in a warm, relaxed and inviting setting. A mix up with my order - which was my fault as I mis-read the menu - was handled with grace, generosity and genuine care. The menu offerings were varied and well rounded, it is wonderful to see a smaller menu where every dish hits the mark rather than many mediocre choices. The confit chicken was a well considered, cohesive dish, expertly executed and perfectly balanced. The excellent service rounded out the meal perfectly.
Poor and limited food choices and poor service. Witnessed 2 different parties walk out after reading the menu, which is definitely what we should have done. Won’t be going back
Lovely spot for lunch.pasta was delicious and perfectly cooked. Service was friendly and welcoming.
A dreadful dining experience today. Went for lunch and found the menu to be extremely limited. 4 dishes on the menu exceeding $30,3 smaller sized dishes at around the $18 mark, then a few side dishes (not exactly light lunch options on their own). No all day breakfast option either, which for a place like Cygnet would be a good thing to offer especially given very limited lunch menu options. Very disappointing and not a patch on the cafe it used to be prior to current ownership. When i spoke with the establishment about the disappointing menu, i was told that they provide a menu that they are happy with and were not in any way receptive to the constructive feedback being offered. I would add that there were very few diners there, compared with the bustling and well patronised Old Bank Cafe just a few doors along. Clearly those diners knew where to get a good meal with ample options to choose from. Sad to say i will not be heading back to the Red Velvet Lounge any time soon. And to add insult to injury, a surcharge for paying by card was applied. Very ordinary indeed
Loved it. I did get lunch special was delicious had wine. Yess lovely. Coffee was great. Loved the chill vibe.
Hands down, top cafe we’ve been to! Fantastic and friendly service, great coffee/chai/smoothies, and the food was delicious. The pasta and chicken & couscous were up there as the best meals we had on our holiday around Tasmania.:)
Review based only on the affogato I was served, which cost $6.50.
The coffee that was used, was poured from a jug, obviously a pre made batch that was just sitting there. Not fresh, not hot!
Not good enough, regardless of the business during the recent festival.
Great venue, food is lovely and far nicer than pub fare. My only issue is with the size of the mains. I'm not a big eater but I left still a bit hungry. Wine selections and staff are great though, and the food presentation was perfect.
Beautiful atmosphere, delicious oat lattes, really warm service. I got the rigatoni - super tasty and had a great hit of fennel through the sausage. My partner got the lamb - delicious and so well presented. Wish we lived locally so we could go again and again.
Had bacon pizza, not nice at all. Ate it because I was hungry but didn't enjoy it. Toppings on our pizzas was light on as well.
We were told there was table service, gave up waiting and went up to the counter to order, when I could get someone's attention, I was able to order.
$45 for 2 small pizzas, I feel this is expensive.
Unfortunately, not a good dining experience all round.
Certainly won't be back.
Great ambience, good coffee, lovely setting. Dog friendly (not that I have one here…. But still). Recommend.
If you don't know, the RVL makes the best coffee in Cygnet. The food is wonderful too.
Thank you for keeping me delighted and caffeinated)
Waited over 45 minutes for a coffee and entre during a non busy time.
Coffee was average.
For the entre I ordered the cauliflower on a bed of hoummous. The hommous was very nice but all in all the dish was pretty ordinary, and at $18 expensive for what it was.
Service was sadly lacking.
Very limited Menu, had Sardines and Tapenade, plate arrived with 2 pieces stale sour dough, small dish Tapenade (ok), and freshly opened can Sardines (still in can)
Very disappointing
Nice place but not very covid safe, if that's as important to you as me I would go elsewhere. Staff just needed to step in and kindly mention issues as they arise.
