Ratho Farm Golf reviews
39Magnificent place. So much character and history. Host was fantastic. Puts everyone at ease. Made to feel most welcome in the family Homestead. Would love to return and spend more time there.
I'm going to be honest, I had heard of Ratho Farm long ago, and I always thought it was always about the golf.
I am happy to admit I was very, very wrong.
Our comfortable stay in a well thought out room was made even more pleasant by the laid-back country atmosphere. The 'make this place your home' welcome from the staff.
Every quarter of the is to be explored, from the grand homestead to the Rustic farm equipment scattered throughout the property.
Thank you to the staff for making our stay memorable.
Oh, and there is golf if anyone is interested.
An absolute hidden gem. I booked thinking this was just accommodation, but it's so much more. You must go and have dinner, it includes story telling of the settlers of Bothwell and the story of the land. The hospitality and food is simply amazing. Greg, the owner is truly a great host. I cannot wait to come back!
Amazing rooms, beautiful meals and lovely hosts! Highly recommend staying here and if possible taking a walking tour to hear about the history of Ratho.
We had a nice stay over the Christmas break at the farm. Really liked the landscape, the walks to take the dog out and the the historical ambience. The rooms were spacious, with direct access to the outside parking area and some outside pick-nick tables as well. However, we were not prepared to have the service being ramped down over Christmas, so that we needed to source our Christmas dinner from a petrol station restaurant near by. But overall still a lovely time!
It’s a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. Stunning rooms with the quiet you need after working in the city! I’m so so glad we stayed at the farm and will definitely go back for another visit!
The oldest, continuosly operating golf course in the world, outside of Scotland. How can you NOT visit
Great accomodation, food and course!
Only suggestion is to put more signage on the golf course on where / which green to play to as it can be confusing for first time players.
Stayed and played golf with a group of mates. Great quirky rooms, awsome friendly staff that bent over backwards for you. Beautiful food and great yarn at dinner about the history of the property and golf course by the big fella Michael. Thanks mate, thoroughly enjoyed myself and will be back.
I will warn you when coming, get those Bourban cans in the fridge. Next time I will wet a line next to the 4th.
Fantastic farm stay experience; fantastic food for dinner; fantastic host; fantastic surroundings.
Couldn't ask for better service, the owner was unbelievably helpful and hospitable. Facilities all immaculate and set up perfectly for a wedding. Definitely would recommend
I just ate my Rocky Road (bed chocolate) from Ratho Farms on my first day back to work after a long scooter journey around Tasmania and as I chomped that delicious nuggy choccy down I remembered a kind face at probably the most weary time in my journey.
I had ridden for hours, being blown and rocked from all sides by the wind and I simply needed a shower, a bed and a peaceful retreat.
Michael, at Ratho Farms, had all of this and more, he was the host with the most and he didn't need to boast because all of the details of his accommodation and stay checked out.
If you are looking for an adventure in the Heartland this is your place. He wants you to feel at home and doesn't neglect the important things of a cozy stay.
Their attempt as a premium tourist destination is laughable.
Management seems to be always looking for a way to charge us full price for a service but then providing something that is less than sub-standard. For example, we were served reheated roast lamb that had been cooked for us the previous night. (We will be eating at the pub in the future.)
After a rough few days on the road the wife and I stumbled upon Ratho farm. So very glad we went. Lovely place. Amazing stay. Great food. Incredible history.
Attended a beautiful wedding there. The bloke who runs the place is an absolute champion, very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!
We have stayed at Ratho farm for multiple days/times. Without fail! The accommodation, food, and service has been exceptional. Michael had always! Been welcoming, helpful and genuine. Additionally, if you want to experience Australian history and visit small ‘real’ Aussie, this is it.
Wow! What a spot! Ratho Farm Accommodation & Golf Links! This place is amazing! The accommodation is beautifully appointed which cleverly utilised the old farm sheds into warm and comfortable rooms. The old homestead is an absolute vibe and provides an insight to the wonderful architecture of the time. We enjoyed a drink in the homestead living room next to the warm fire listening to Manager/Caretaker Michael tell stories of the history of the farm (who is an absolute legend) The golf course is the oldest in Australia and was so much fun to play. They have a quaint little proshop with hire clubs available if you don’t want to bring your set. Highly recommended staying out here if you really want to immerse yourself into rural Tassie.
Stunning location and above and beyond hospitality from the staff. We stayed for an evening and really wished to have stayed for another. Having very little amenities nearby you would definitely want to reserve a dinner booking with your accommodation as well as breakfast. We were fed lovely, generous portions of homestead style dinner and dessert. As well as being a gorgeous property, the staff were phenomenal at ensuring that each guest was welcomed and looked after. The roaming chickens and the resident highland cows Betsy and Barbara were a bonus to see! It was very enjoyable learning about the history of the property through some great reading and storytelling after dinner and we sincerely hope to return again one day!
An incredibly fun golf course which has an amazing history. Some of the tee shots are the most fun tee shots I've taken, the first and the eighteenth in particular. Only reason it looses a star is the greens were certainly not the best condition. But absolutely worth stopping by to play the oldest course in the country!
Best place for a laid back wedding!
All the staff were so incredibly helpful and welcoming, nothing was too difficult and we felt completely at home. Food was delicious and accomodation was just a short walk from dinner so all our guests could enjoy a drink without needing to drive home. The accommodation was lovely and clean, the waterfall shower head was divine and the body wash smells amazing.
We will definitely be back to enjoy another stay after our time flew by way too quickly.
