Railton Hotel reviews
31Railton Hotel is a cosy, friendly hotel in a quite country setting. We stayed the night in an upstairs room with ensuite. It was clean and homely and just like the solid old hotels of yesteryears. It was nice and quiet. There were meals provided on the night which were delicious (chicken snitty and veg) was our choice. Can recommend a stay.
Lovely old hotel. We stayed for seven nights. The room was comfortable the bed was excellent, no bad backs and the meals were great. The hosts were very friendly and very helpful. Thank you for the enjoyable time we had. Cheers Kay and Arie
Camping in grassy paddock behind hotel. NEW PRICE: $10 per person per night including one shower.
For what it is, it was great! A cheap camp in the backyard with adequate facilities! Lovely locals happy to chat and very accommodating behind the bar! Thanks guys! Travelled with 2 kids.
Very friendly kind staff the only downfall was no bathroom in the room understanding these rooms state back to the early 1900s only stayed for one night got a good nights rest for work didn’t have enough time to have a meal but I heard they were great. Outside the rooms they have a breakfast and lunch area where you can make some breakfast and a light lunch they have a toilet outside the rooms and a share shower
Country pub run by friendly people, Caroline and Phil were very accommodating of us arriving just before close on a Sunday to get a supurb Roast Beef and a cold beer after a long drive and to camp the night out the back of the pub before heading to Cradle Mountain. Highly recommended
We stayed overnight before starting the Overland Track. Great country pub. The owners and locals were delightful. We ate at the bistro, and the service was great. The room was clean and comfortable. Very happy with my stay, especially for the low price.
Wonderful pub and terrifically friendly. We camped out the back and enjoyed hot showers and peace and quite. Carolyn was awesome and we works stay here again. 5 stars!
Basic room with shared bathroom. Clean and cheap with good food in bistro.breakfast supplies in a self-serve kitchen perfect for travellers. Thanks!
People run the pub own the pub so you know you are going to get looked after. Steak dinner was nicely cooked how I liked it.
My partner and I paid around $28 each for the chicken parma and veggie burger. Photos of the food attached. Limited selection of beers on tap.
Great place to camp for a night. Phil & Caroline were really welcoming, felt very safe as a solo traveller. Great value - had a camp spot, a hot meal, a hot shower and two ciders for under $30. The roast chicken was delicious too! Could not recommend more highly.
Beautiful looking old-style Hotel
Room was dirty with carpets obviously not vacumed for some time. Share facilities with others leaving their toothbrushes, soap and shampoos with no basin but lots of mould in the shower. Watch the loose toilet seat! Only given one towel between us to share. No food available and watch the back steps in the dark, bring a torch as no outside lights.
I stopped a few times in Railton Hotel (camping in the backyard) while travelling in Tasmania. The owners are very friendly, the place has a great atmosphere, and the food was fresh and excellent!
Thank you for such a great hospitality and kindness!
Highly recommend this place.
After reviewing the website today which says come for lunch or dinner I rang to double check that they do serve lunches and was greeted by the most rude lady on the other end of the phone that said in a very rude tone, and I quote ‘Our facebook site says we only do dinners, our sign out the front says we only do dinners, thanks for your feedback’ and she slammed the phone down leaving me appalled to be honest. I have never been spoken to so rudely by any business anywhere. I am a local now looking for a good local pub to frequent and I will not be spending a cent in the Railton Hotel.very disappointed!
Duncan's bottleshop does not exist even though his sings say Duncan's bottle shop Drive-In false advertising people check it out
A massive Thank you! To Micheal for the hospitality shown to the crew of Charlton Farm. It was an amazing place with exceptional food, cold Frothies and some memorable music.
Our group will certainly be back.
Thanks Micheal
My boyfriend and I had a great time at the Railton Hotel. The owner Michael was an outstanding host who helped us out with everything we needed and was super friendly. It's one of the best hotels I've ever been in my life and I highly recommend it to everyone! Michael if you ever see this, thanks again for your great hospitality and kindness!
Accommodation/room was what you expect from an old country pub but the one shared toilet and bathroom was clean but a bit inadequate for the number of guests plus the toilet door would not lock. Meals were nice but basic and a tad expensive for what it was.

The owner is a wolf in sheep's clothing, very dishonest and rips people off. Avoid it and continue to the next town if possible.
If you're after a hot shower with clean facilities there is a brand new facility half a kilometres off the main road 1 dollar for 3 minutes. It's called Goliath Park. Have a go at squash while you're there. (showers in the toilet block). Open 8: 00 am to 8: 00 pm.
