Queen Victoria Museum Inveresk reviews
64Wonderful interactive displays for children. We went late in the day so didn't explore far.
A great museum about Launceston's history, which we enjoyed as two adults though there are plenty of exhibits which kids would enjoy. The museum takes general topics such as transport and colonial history and presents a very interesting local spin that captures your attention. The museum is newly renovated with a mixture between modern amenity and history. We only got 2 hours here before closing time and I wish we had given ourselves more time.
A really great museum - couldn't believe it was free! Unfortunately we only had an hour to explore as we were catching a flight so it was a shame we didn't think to go here earlier. Everything we saw was great & we're looking forward to returning so we can see the whole museum!
Enjoyed our museum visit very much. So much information to digest and interesting artifacts and articles.
Reminds me of fond memories as a child: seeing the dinosaurs, going to the planetarium, eating in the tram cafe, learning about the old train lines, and more. Qvmag is a great place to bring kids to, as well as a great museum to spend a day at!
Visited the "100 years of the Archie's exhibition", outstanding but be quick as it closes early January 2023.
Appalling - no notice or Message on phone that this exhibition was closed today 23rd December. A large number of people turning up and turning away, disappointed. No good Tasmania. Feels like the bad old days!
A very good museum worth spending a couple of hours exploring and reading about Tasmania's rich history. It's a museum close to the CBD, reachable with the free Tiger bus and offering a diverse collection of Australian animals, old transport systems, dinosaurs and other interesting display. There's plenty of parking and still walkable from the city.
I had a few hours to kill and decided to take a look at the museum, it was a great decision!
Helpful members of staff directed me to the planetarium which whilst small was full of info and history of Tasmanian research.
The main display shows a sad history of the Tasmania Tiger, a good dinosaur display, an old bike display, an old Alfa Romeo and a photographic display upstairs. I loved the old train display and especially the railway workshops
This was a great use of my few hours. I really enjoyed it!
It’s a nice museum with some interactive exhibits, thought it’s a bit small so don’t expect to spend too long here.
It's a great museum, lots of things for the kids to do! I would have given 5 stars but there are lots of activities that are broken or out of order, which is a shame. We had lots of fun though and will be back again.
I can't believe we have never visited here before. The most interesting and informative displays, takes in so many outside sheds? Old workshops. We will go back as covid restrictions had some interactive displays no touching. The planetarium is a must do for any visitor, we watched the race to space story and found it very interesting and the night sky and tour round our stars was excellent. The perception tunnel was also a favorite, even if it made you feel sickly.
Just a MUST if you are in Launceston.
Absolutely fantastic place to visit and enjoy the history and exhibition! We spent 3 hours there with 2 kids and they enjoyed the place too!
A terrific regional museum over two sites. At Royal Park, it has information about the first Tasmanians as well an art gallery. At Invermay, there are wonderful exhibits including native wildlife and a planetarium.
Amazing place to visit stay there almost all day the tazzie tiger part is amazing learning about there history.
Free entry and I loved the exhibit with stuffed Tasmanian animals. I had a really fun family day out with my parents here reading up about the Tasmanian Tigers and playing with the 'whispering' machine
A good museum to spend some time at. Not real expensive to look through. Some hands on stuff for the kids and young at heart as well.
Brilliant exhibitions. Original buildings of train workshops that need to be seen.heard and admired.thank you
Was a decent experience, the displays were mostly informative and of a good quality. But many of the interactive displays were broken and in poor condition.
Good place to visit. It is free. Amazing display of animals and dinosaurs. Lots of information to be had. Upstairs has an amazing array of photos from around Tasmania and under Tasmanian waters.
The science part for kids is a massive let down. I would have honestly thought that during its time closed for covid they would have upgraded or fixed the activities. Instead there is still plenty out of order. The tram cafe was closed on both occasions we went. Art display across from that had broken art work etc. Outside has standard science stuff but once again some were out of order or lacked the equipment needed to do them. It's free so please donate.
