Pooley Wines reviews
62Went in for a tasting and I have to say that it was one of the most thorough and well explained cellar door experiences I've had. I found the introduction to the wines very approachable and interesting, and the portions very generous. I enjoyed all of the wines even though I am usually particular about the styles I like. Pol and Rachel were great hosts and I will definitely be coming back for a cozy tasting experience.
Beautiful landscape gardens, super friendly knowledgeable staff. They also welcomed our kids with hot chocolate while we did a wine taste. Best wine of the region, the sparkling is amazing.
A comfortable winery surrounded by nature
Wine is also delicious and good
The staff's friendly explanation was impressive.
There is a restroom and parking lot.
A variety of wines are available
Wineries in Hobart, Tajmania
The weather was really nice
Great afternoon, all staff so friendly and helpful, really beautiful wines, and a shout out to Derek who conducted the most interesting and informative tasting my friend and I have ever had. Top place!
Made a booking two weeks ago and got a confirmation email. Yesterday got an email cancelling my booking with no explanation I call and no return call. I call again this morning the day of my supposedly special surprise for my husband and told they’ll respond in 24 hrs. Still no response so will never frequent in the future.
Josie was an absolute pleasure sharing both personal anecdotes and extensive knowledge of the region. We had a lot of fun and our friend can’t wait for her fish & chip meal at Shippies later on as recommended - hopefully it meets her size expectations. 5 stars, would recommend.
Beautifully set on your way to Richmond, this winery offers a quick snack and a beautiful Pinot Noir on the way to the airport.
What a fantastic winery, lots of history and great pizzas and of course drinks. Super view to boot
Extremely disappointed. Given a glass of water and then ignored for 50 minutes whilst awaiting a wine tasting.
Paid $15 for wine tasting, only for the waiter to walk off and sit down and chat to ‘more important’ people. We left after 10 minutes having only tasted two wines. An awful experience.
Great location and fantastic wine. If anyone tells you Tassy wine is no good, they haven't been here.
Lovely staff, very knowledgeable and the wine speaks for itself.
One of my favourite wineries in Tassie!
My husband and I stopped by for a tasting at Pooley wines on our second day in Hobart. It is located only 15 minutes drive from the centre CBD in the heart of the Coal valley region.
It's a small 3rd generation family owned business which all started in 1985 with Denis and Margaret Pooley planting their first rows of Pinot Noir and Riesling vines on their farm on Cooinda Vale.
All of the wines we tried were so delicious that we ended up buying 4 bottles to take home!
It was so nice to learn a little bit about the history of Pooley wines from the lovely staff and how they are made.
The Pooley wine making process uses minimal intervention and they are committed to achieving organic certification by 2026.
If you love good wine, this place is a must when in Tassie
Cheese board, wood fired pizzas and of course the wines were absolutely gorgeous. Staff were super nice! Loved this place.
Good tasting experience. Staff really knowledgeable and passionate about their wines. Cool old building and vibes
I stopped in to Pooley Wines for a tasting and was served by Tim. You’ll find the staff accommodating, attentive and very knowledgeable and helpful. I’d highly recommend the tasting experience in the cellar door. The only downside was I didn’t have time to stay and enjoy the food!
It was ok, has great potential. A small pizza for $16, but tasted great. Wine good.
We sat in the open which was sweltering. They kindly provided some hats for us.
There was quite a lineup to order, spent 15 minutes or so in the sun waiting.
We had a birthday cake which they stored for us. I was told it would be $2.50 per person to have plates! No one cut it, no spoon, just a plate for $2.50pp. After complaining about this, they said they would only charge us for 4 people (we had 8 in total).
Pooley's wine was a lovely place to catch up with my family. We came in not great weather but that didn't dampen our spirit, we managed to slip into a table that was vacated but would recommend booking a couple days ahead. They were sold out of a few amazing looking pizza's but we loved the ones that were available and ordered their apple crumble pizza - AMAZING, best desert pizza ever. The wine was all gorgeous, we tried a range of sparkling, reisling and rose.
Beautiful little winery! Gorgeous setting - felt like I’d been transported to the south of France momentarily! Would deffo recommend!:)
My parents and I visited on the weekend and did a great wine tasting hosted by Derek. He was very knowledgeable and made us feel most welcome. A definite asset to the place. The Gewürztraminer was the standout for us and we took a few bottles home with us. Delicious.
We had a very informative and fun tasting at Pooley winery. The staff are so lovely and really spend the time going through each wine with you. The wines are incredible and the tasting is very extensive for only $10. Such a beautiful winery too with interesting history - a must visit.
