Absolutely stunning scenery, especially the Fungi at this time of the year is spectacular. Highly recommended, 210 steps at the end but so worth it!

If you are looking for some fungi hunting with kids and family this is the best place to go! And the bonus is an amazing waterfall!

The turnoff is difficult to spot and the roads can be icy, but the location is beautiful and a treasure trove of exotic fungi.
Make sure to pack wet weather gear and a good camera.

Not an easy walk, except for the young perhaps, but worth doing if you like rainforests and waterfalls Reasonably easy to start but then there are some steep sections and then a lot of steps. At least allow 2 hours rt.
If you want to go to the bottom then allow a few more hours.

Definitely the highlight of our stay in Waratah. Only a short drive along a gravel road to the entrance of the walk, and then about 40 minutes to walk to the viewing platform. But that walk is GOBSMACKING. Honestly some of the most ethereal and lush rainforest on the west coast - we just walked along in open-mouthed wonderment.

210 steps down to view the falls in amongst the ferns and was hard to tear ourselves away. Walk back up the stairs was steep but safe (lots of rails and landings to catch your breath!). Was great to learn more about the history of the falls and the area from some informative signs. A stunning spot!

The walk is all downhill to a small bridge over the river. Then reasonably flat for a while, then 220 steps, down to a viewing platform, opposite the falls. The rainforest is BEAUTIFUL. The track would be muddy after rain.

Philosopher Falls is a beautiful place situated just over 10kms out of Waratah on Butlers road. Lovely walking track but be mindful that it's steep in areas and also has about 200 steps down to the Falls viewing platform.

This track is quiet muddy, if it’s rained recently make sure you’ve got waterproof shoes on. The last part of the walk is stairs down to the platform to look back at the waterfall. There is no way to view the waterfall without going down the stairs.

But the stairs are worth it for the view!

Incredibly beautiful walk through the lush forest lots of fungi to see and some of the softest looking moss the is
The path can have its muddy sections and a bit steep is some parts but well worth every step
There is quite a few steps to get to the waterfall Where there is a nice viewing platform
Highly recommend this walk

One of our favorite walks. Beautiful rainforest with a huge variety of fungi. The waterfall is pretty, but it's the walk the best part, just stunning!

I would have given Philosopher Falls 5 stars but the stairs were a killer. Still, it was well worth the effort! Seriously, just be aware there are 208 steps down to the falls and 208 back up again. If you're not terribly fit then perhaps consider giving them a miss as you can't see the falls unless you do the steps.

210 glorious steps down the side of a mountain, if you're up for it, you're in for a treat at the bottom, a beautiful waterfall and what a scenic walk in!

Moderate walk with the balance more towards difficult than towards easy. Well marked with boardwalks along some of the water races. Top quality 207 steps at the end of the walk to the viewing platform. Not for children under 7 and all children have to have adult supervision. Walkers with underlying medical conditions, please plan and consider with caution. Impossible for wheelchairs. No amenities available. Most beautiful rainforest and falls. A must see during the wet months.

Great track - beautiful forest - much to see on the walk, both natural, and man-made history with the water races.
Easy to find - well signposted.
Don't count the steps ;)

The walk through the rainforest was one of the most enjoyable that we have been on. There were so many trees left where they had fallen. Moss covered most of fallen trunks, the ground etc. The fungi was varied and included areas of both brilliant orange and pale apricot. In parts, the track followed the old water races. I was in awe of man's ingenuity and applaud the physical work undertaken by the people who built the races. The falls were somewhat impressive. I think that they would be very impressive during the wet season. However, the beauty of the walk more than made up for them.

What a beautiful walk. Very easy. We had to count the stairs to the lookout, only 210. We appreciate all the work that has gone in to reserve the history and ease of walking too.

Enchanting Mossy Forest where you can find bright coloured mushrooms I never seen before. An easy 45 min walk to the waterfall look out point.

100% worth it, unless stairs get the better of you, my daughter didn’t believe the person that counted the steps so she counted again, but being a serial pest, I jumbled her up 3/4 on the way down so she had to restart on the way up.probably not the best idea to bring your fur baby, UNLESS they fit in a backpack.
Gem at the end of the nice walk.
Completed walk in 1hr 10mins.easy until the stairs.

A very beautiful waterfall at the end of a lush rainforest hike. Make sure to wear waterproof boots as it’s a bit of a muddy trek.
