Mount Field National Park reviews
49 Last time I visited Mount Field National Park and booked a travel trip package through Tripadvisor, which had excellent star reviews. Driving from Hobart, we made a lunch stop at Subways before reaching the park.
Our visit began with a leisurely walk through the enchanting forest, filled with towering tree ferns and giant eucalypts. The short walk to Russell Falls was a delightful experience, surrounded by nature's grandeur. The weather was pleasant, adding to the overall enjoyment of the trip.
What impressed me was how beginner-friendly the park was. Even as a novice explorer, I found the walks and trails to be accessible and manageable. It was reassuring to know that Mount Field National Park caters to visitors of all experience levels.
This place is absolutely magical. Moss covered trees, waterfalls and beautiful ferns. One of the best National parks I have visited
This place is amazing! One of the best national parks I’ve ever been to. Amazing water falls, walking tracks, shelters, camp sites and staff! But best of all the cafe. I had the chicken bites with chips, real chicken, homemade crumb batter and freshly cooked, the chips nice and hot with salt which made it have a good taste to it! My mum had the scones, fresh homemade scones that just came out of the oven, not Microwaved, soft and fluffy with that little bit of cookie taste on the bottom outside, real cream and the jam tasted like donut jam! My dad had one of the soups, homemade, hot, kinda spicy but that was good, a lot of flavours in there too! For drinks I had a hot chocolate, soo good and it wasn’t like your normal hot chocolate you make from home it had a different chocolate that I couldn’t figure out what type. Mum had an ice coffee, real cream a little bit strong how she likes it. Dad had a flat white and he says it was the best one he’s ever had! Thankyou all that work at the national park for being amazing and making the place wonderful. We sure will be coming back a lot!
Helpful information centre man. Good walking trail. Great shrooms. Tall trees are very tall, but they arent big! Road to the information centre was completely sealed (perfect for our hire car) but further into the park, I dont know.
This is an absolutely amazing national park in Tassie and the three falls circuit is a must do when you are here. Every falls that you see just gets better and better. It is a medium grade walk which is approximately 6 km, there are quite a few stairs in some areas especially when getting to all 3 of the falls. The vibes here are excellent which really give off a clean rainforest environment, it is up there with being the best rainforest we have seen.

Ver well maintained and clean campground. What makes it more enjoyable is the lovely friendly staffs providing all the information you asked. Especially the Scottish gentleman has shared many his secret attraction and helped me to make my itinerary viable due to weather and my vehicle condition. The beauty of the journey always lies on the kind people along the way.
Easy and scenic drive from Hobart along the Derwent River. The information centre is well-appointed with brochures, advice, a cafe, an interesting museum and clean toilets. The wheelchair-suitable board walk to the truly beautiful Russell Falls takes a route through amazing tree ferns with very photogenic moss-covered logs - a fairyland.
Visistors center great. Cafe inside with indoor fire. The 3 falls loop to Lady Barron falls is unmissable.
Breathtaking scenery and not far from Hobart
Lots of walks and tracks to explore so definitely will visit again? Really worth visiting!
Lovely campgrounds with clean facilities. Lots of wildlife around. The hike was fantastic, with a really well maintained track.
Was not happy when a person ask my granddaughter to put her sandwich away as we was looking in the shop come on now Was going to buy but didn’t
Beautiful beautiful place.
Always such a pleasure to walk in amongst the tree ferns, listening to nature and just enjoying the glorious scenery
Loved our stay here would recommend it campground clean hot showers 20 dollars for power all good close to visitor centre and 3 Falls walk
Whether you are hoping to camp for a week or just spend a lovely afternoon wandering some trails, Mount Field is a winner. A variety of trails cater for a huge range of abilities and interest levels. Beautiful waterfalls, lovely forests and well cared for trails. The café was exceptional, especially considering the logistics.
Great National Park near to Hobart with plenty of walking tracks with great views and scenery.
Although be aware of two points, to reach quite a lot of the walking tracks requires a drive along a pretty sketchy dirt road. There are numerous points where there are blind hairpins and where it is not possible to pass cars safely.
Secondly, the walk to the top of Mount Field requires climbing over many boulders, some of which are quite loose. Plus there is no set track, so it is sort of a choose your own adventure type walk at that point.
Could not recommend Mount Field National Park enough! My partner and I enjoyed it so much we stayed for two nights in our campervan. $20 a night for 2x people and a powered site which we thought was cheap considering how much there is to do around the area. Such beautiful waterfall walks. Will definitely be returning to this beautiful place.
A hidden beauty only 30 minutes from New Norfolk. Beautiful scenery, excellent walking tracks and camping facilities. I'll be spending a lot of time here in the future! Cheers
Best national park in TAS! Saw an endangered Eastern barred bandicoot near the campsite. The hot shower at the campsite is also the best! Miss everything there.
Nature sound and fresh air.
Stopped and spent a great couple of hours walking up to see the Russell Falls, then down thru the Tall Trees, very impressed with the path, lovely rangers who assisted in our choice with great advice.we took a privet car from the information tourist center to go for the mounted field national park, since we have a baby 18 month old, the price was suitable cheaper than the bus.the amazing driver provided us with safety child seat which was perfect we enjoyed the trip and his knowledge of the places we went. Other cars or buss don’t have child seat and very tiring for long hours. I highly recommend the driver for small families especial with small baby.
Loved it. The campsite was really good, with numbered bays so you had your own area. There are showers and clean loos, and a laundry room too.
The information centre was nice and had some interesting info. Highly rated the walk to Russell Falls.
Best part of the park, however, was the Pandani Grove walk which went from the top. Gorgeous.
