Montezuma Falls Trailhead reviews
12Trailhead to a very nice walk through forest and ferns. Magical despite (or because of) the light rain we had. Unfortunately, our rescue dog is a bit reactive - so we could not cope with all the dogs that others kept off leash and had to turn around before reaching the waterfall.
Very easy walk out & back on an old tram way. A wet rainforest with the waterfall & suspension bridge the highlight that awaits. Well worth the visit.
The trail head is a big parking lot. Plenty of space. No treesso your car will be in full sun while you hike.
The road in is fine for a 2WD - the last section before the carpark is gravel, but that's it. Keep going straight past the private house, and stay on the main route, no need to turn off the various unsigned paths.you'll know when you reach the carpark - its big.:)
5 Star, no doubt about it. Flat 95% percent of the way, wouldn't even notice its as many KM as it is. Pity that there are a couple of pinches, including the very last 50m or so that aren't suitable for wheelchairs. Visited early morning in late April. From memory, we took approx. 3hr 15min return including photos at a moderate pace. Classic example of Tasmanian bush meets rainforest, plenty of ferns etc. Note that there are some picnic tables at the carpark, and the toilet is situated slightly past the start of the trailhead. Suspension bridge is huge, pity that since replacing it late 2021/early 2022, there is no mesh (and quite a gap) between the footplate and sides. Crossing the suspension bridge is not a necessity to see the falls, (although you can view the falls from the bridge if desired.) The sheer height and magnitude of the falls themselves is insane.
Great place to visit, and not too many people around - may have been the time of day we visited though.
Lovely place. Don't be like us, do the hike early in the morning. Beautiful views. Very quiet, esp.later in the afternoon. Mind, it's a 3h hike and it gets dark abruptly in the mountains.
Great 3hr walk. Be prepared for a change in the weather. Definitely recommend walking shoes as the track can get quite muddy.
Long and fairly boring walk. Nice location, but almost completely flat and unvaried. Would be great on a bike
WOW … what a great experience … highly recommended!
Well maintained low degree of difficulty track through beautiful rainforest … we both thoroughly enjoyed it!
Easy walk. Fabulous scenery and a rushing river within sight. However, the rainfall this area makes it problematic any time of the year. Make sure you have good hiking boots and suitable clothing and a change of clothing in the car.
Now this is a lovely walk it took us over 4hrs as we have 4 children but we stopped and had lunch at the Falls.the suspension bridge was pretty cool too. The pure size of the Falls is breathtaking.
A lovely walk. It's about 2.5 hours as a round trip. We spent a bit longer at the waterfall so it took us about 3. We are by no means fit people and we found the walk to be quite easy. Everything is so green and the waterfall is a truly beautiful sight. Highly recommend this for anyone!
Easy walk, very wet underfoot. Waterfall is cool, shame the suspension bridge had been damaged in a tree fall so was closed
