Meander Falls reviews
23Fantastic walk - good parking and facilities, not too overcrowded and absolutely gorgeous views at the falls. My partner and I did the hike in 3 hours but we are fast hikers and were very sweaty. 2 hours to the falls then 1 hour back roughly. 500mt elevation gain, good track markers and surreal scenery!
As of 30/11/23 Meander falls track is closed, need to access falls via split rock track, 10km return (rocky and steep). Plus dirt road is closed, extra 3km each way. Took me 6 hours. Worth it, only one in the park.
Main meander falls walk - 5 hours return out and back
Split rock shower cave loop 3 hours return
Times include time to rest before returning
Split rock track is rugged terrain and overgrown, some markers are hard to see/ gone due to fallen trees take caution traversing this trail.
9.5km, 4-6 hours return trails from meander falls car park. Plenty parking area. Only toilet at start point should be reminded.
Slippery icey rocks are nearby main falls.
Extremely cold there when falls was frozen, but its worthy walk.
A true winter wonderland. 6 hours return including a lunch break and slow hiking. A great, long but relatively easy walk.
Another great tassie hike, especially when the falls are frozen.
A 4 to 6 hour return journey.
Nice 5h walking, it's definitely hard than I thought, the first 3km was ok, we only took 1 hour to finish, but the last 2 km was really hard and rocky show the speed, but the view is fantastic, especially nice day after the rainy day.
1 hiking shoes needed
2 check sun down and last daylight, I would suggest no start after 11 am.
I would like to visit it again when temperatures is down, I just want to see iced water fall
An awesome walk that meanders all the way to the top. It's an amazing place to visit anytime of year, but a bit of ice and snow is truly the icing on the cake!
Beautiful and awesome trail. Started from hobart pretty early but due to icy roads on the central highland route, had to take a detour and go via Campbell town. Easy-moderate track for the physically fit. Last few parts of the track were covered with snow (waterfall was frozen) making it a bit slippery. We started at 01: 00 and completed at 5: 00 (just before it got dark). Could not do the split track circuit due to bad conditions (icy) and time constraints.
Track is not too bad to get to the fall, well marked so can't get lost. Few steep parts but nothing crazy. You can go to the ledge of the waterfall. Nice views over the valley. If you are fit and confident with navigation do the loop. Well worth it and some beautiful small waterfall (recommend gps to get there). Good gravel road to access the car park.
Meander Falls is well worth the effort to get there. Follow the track markers religiously (red to the falls, yellow return) and if you don't see one after 10 metres, go back to the last one. Ensure you have suitable hiking shoes. Not suitable for young children.
Loved it. Came in following the meander river, camped by the waterfall and came out the next morning via split rock. Amazing
It’s really nice track along the creek, but the split rock track is really poorly marked, we got lost then had to go back to follow the former track we came from. Anyway, really clean beautiful waterfall. We love it.
Was a great walk, although some of the uphill parts were a little intense. It made for a good workout. The waterfall itself was incredible and reminded me of Montezuma falls.
No sign posts telling you which way to go or to shower cave falls or slit rock falls, can easily get lost up there have a fall or trip up, as we did.all over grown no proper track anywere or clearly marked. Dangerous at times, the council need to invest in a clearly marked route and keep it clear to walk up, and was by no means a moderate climb as stated. Verry dissapointed, couldnt get any further on route so turned back after 2 hrs not seeinf any water falls, verry dissapointing.
Trail needs some love - it is challenging in some parts - needs steps added. The falls make for a great destination
Challenging constant uphill hike, rocky almost the entire trip and a ankle roller's nightmare.
The result is well worth it, the base of the water fall has amazing views with the option of going further uphill to get a better view of the valley. Pack light, have good cardio and the hike should be easy enough!
One of the greatest Tassie hike along the river side and little creeks. The water in the river is so pristine and clear. Walking in the green lushy forest through giant eucalyptus trees is absolutely stunning. The waterfall is just amazing.
Went to Meander Falls back when I was a kid at Meander Primary School. Visited the Hideaway Hut a couple of weeks ago which bought back a few Memories.
Meander Falls is one of the beautiful falls I have ever seen. Water is fresh, clean and can be used for drinking purpose with out filtration. It's a bit of a uphill walk so get prepared to get tired but once you reach there you will feel great. For a moment you will be tranquilized by the nature and falls and you will forget all your pains. But I recommend you not to forget your own name in the excitement.
