Me Wah Restaurant reviews
49Simply the best Chinese food, not only Launceston but the state.wonderful team and service!
We were just looking for restaurants that open late at night but little did we know Me Wah's staff deliver a level of experience that's a hundred times better than what we've experienced in Sydney. The scallop is to die for, very well seasoned, it just hit all the spots. Highly recommended. Would definitely come again.
Very authentic Cantonese cuisine just like home, surprisingly nice fried ice cream coating and strawberry sauce. Lamb stew bean curd could be cooked longer though
Fantastic service, staff there were all so amazing. The food was so delicious. We totally enjoyed our crayfish. A perfect dinner.
My husband and I took his 91 yr old mother to MeWah for dinner.
The welcome from stepping into the front door to the good bye as we left was amazing. The food is delicious. Esp the assorted dumpling entree. Im have 2 of them for a main meal next visit The wine we chose was beautiful. My mother in law was so spoilt by all the staff (I may have hinted about her birthday and age)
Every staff member were proffesional, super efficient but above all genuinely cheerful, respectful and fun.
As we asked for the bill a beautiful dessert, with a birthday candle, was presented to my mother in law. As a complementary gift.
Will be going back again and again.
Signature Banquet was to die for, I rolled out of thr Me Wah so full but every bite and every dish was better than the one before it! Service is amazing, the staff know how to pair their wines with the banquets and make sure your glass is never empty.
My husband and I have eaten in numerous Chinese restaurants all over Australia and South-East Asia but Me Wah in Launceston was definitely an experience to remember!
Me Wah embodies everything that is quintessential about Chinese restaurants but done to the highest of standards. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and showed to our table straightaway. What struck us the most was the crowd that night, from families to couples to groups of friends - everyone looked like they were having the best time and all their (as well as ours) needs were met with and served to straightaway with the most genuine of smiles and courteous of mannerisms.
The food - was absolutely amazing, fresh and tasty! So much so that we immediately cancelled a dinner booking we had for a different restaurant so we could come back and sample the rest of the menu the following night! We definitely recommend the entree scallops, Aberdeen fish fillets, Mount Buddha chicken, sweet and sour pork (which in my opinion, was one of the best I’ve had since coming to Australia and I’ve had A LOT of sweet and sour pork over the years) and truffle mushrooms.
Do yourself a favour - do not pass on the chicken consommé because it is truly the epitome of traditional boiled soup that feeds the soul.
And yes, leave room for dessert because the salted caramel sauce drizzled into the peanut parfait and the mango sorbet on apple lychee granita will complete the dining experience!
Kudos to Stanley and his team at Me Wah Launceston for providing us with one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time and please continue to do what you’re doing! You are truly an institution in Launceston and we look forward to coming back to you soon!
Had a meal with interstate visitors who also love mee wah
It never disappoints food beautifully cooked
Dumplings. Superb and seafood and lamb succulent.
As usual the staff are impeccable and very polite.
The customer service was on point, which is a big deal for a Chinese joint. The staff was super friendly and observant (very rare for a Chinese restaurant)
Now let's talk about the food. We ordered the sweet and sour pork, lo hon jai, and Mt. Buddha chicken, and they were all yummy. The sweet and sour pork had that perfect tangy-sweet combo (could've improved by being more tangy and adding cucumber), while the lo hon jai was a veggie and tofu medley that got the flavours right. And don't even get me started on the Mt. Buddha chicken—it was really tasty with the sweet sour and salty vinegar sauce.
However, sadly the ee fu noodle was a bit of a letdown. I mean, seriously, it was a rip-off. The portion was tiny, and there was hardly any crab meat in there. I was pretty bummed out about it, to be honest. It didn't live up to the rest of the meal. And hence reducing 1 star.
But overall, it was a decent experience. And definitely one of the better asian restaurants in this small city. They did not charge for takeaway containers and chilli (which was a pleasant surprise and makes the experience better because the prices of the dishes were already expensive enough!)
I have never ever left the Me Wah, dissappointed.
If you want the best Chinese food in L'ton, then go to the Me Wah, everytime.
Services are very good.
Very clean place.
We had crab fried rice, beef with vege.
Beef brisket.
The fried rice is excellent, fluffy and soft and not dry or soggy. The flavours are original and mild, not much MSG.
The beef with vege is also very well-done, lots of flavour, tho little heavy on the oil and could use little less MSG.
The brisk was very good too. Tender and well cooked.
Would recommend this place when in Launceston.
Family dinner.
Silk Banquet - enjoyed every dish.
The food was gourmet.
The service was brilliant.
A wonderful evening for all of us.
Professional service and great hosts.
Decided on something different and came here for dinner, the staff were amazing and took great care of us. The food was bussin
It was just a really nice time. I recommend
Food very delicious, staff courteous and attentive, nothing too much trouble. Everything was explained. Superb.
So disappointed. Heard good things. But the dishes we ordered were poor. Lots of goopy cornflour coating and very average, uncomplicated flavour. As if the cook opened a jar of supermarket sauce and just used that. The “fried” rice seemed more like boiled. Again, lacking the complexity that should have been there. Not worth the money.
The food was tasty, scallops and smooth ginger sauce. Yum. Love the attention to detail and wait staff discretely efficient. Thank you so much, we will be back
The food was beautiful, and the service was professional and friendly. We enjoyed it so much we got take away the following night. Definitely recommend
Usually on holidays I avoid Chinese eatery as they more miss than hits. But Me Wah is an exception and they delivered really well on the Chinese cuisine. The style here is more southern China cuisine namely Guandong/HK style. We had the Peking duck entree, the whole flounder, snake beans and honey pork chops. The NZ flounder was the standout with its crispy and freshness of the fish. For the pork chop although the flavours was really good, I feel the soft bone in the chops needed a bit more time to soften up but it is still great tasting. Overall would recommend this restaurant and the service was very good
The food we order was delicious, we were really pleased with it all. The service by the staff was outstanding as well. Very polite and attentive
Great Service, Reasonable price, Lovely food and the owner Stanley is always friendly. Thank you to all the team.
