COME HERE IF YOU LIKE TO SPEND $21 ON HOT WATER! The server asked us what tea we’d like and we asked for water only. They poured hot water into a tea pot, didn’t say anything about charging and charged us “hot tea” at $3pp (incl kids who barely touched their water). No where on their menu does it mention hot water costing money. Nor did we have tea or ask for tea. The food was decent but expensive with small portions - like fine dining. But the service felt far from fine dining. The hot water charge feels like a tourist trap and has overshadowed our experience.

Had scallops, roast duck, vegetables and rice. Service was outstanding, our water glasses were never empty, the meal was served at the table - very friendly and professional.
The deep fried ice cream was the best we’ve had anywhere.
The restaurant is well laid out with a good distance between tables which makes for quiet dining and an intimate atmosphere.

Posh Aussie style Chinese. Menu was straight out the 80’s, but very tasty and good quality at the same time.
Go elsewhere if you want authentic Chinese cuisine.

We thought it was a lovely clean place BUT Food lack of taste we paid close to $400 of food they bring the plates hardly anything on your plates small portions very very disappointing to spend close to $400 and not been satisfied and hardly meals / meals on your plates never again will I eat here again.

Best service I’ve ever had in my life, the food was amazing; I’m from China and I can say that the food here is even better than some restaurants in China. The service was excellent and the waiters were very polite and nice. Will definitely come back here.

Yum Cha has to be my favourite thing to eat, so it was great to finally organise a visit to Me Wah on my holiday to Hobart.

First things to cross off: both the venue and the staff are top notch, arguably the nicest Chinese restaurant I've ever been in. That being said, it all comes down to food.

Unlike other Yum Cha restaurants this one seemed to have a unique approach. Half the listed Yum cha never came out, you were only offered what was brought around once. It seemed that the aim was to offer a set amount and then we leave.

The Yum Cha was okay.but there wasn't anything I would recommend as standout. Common features such as Shu Mai and Prawn Harkow were standard, whereas several of their local specialities were lacking flavour.

For a total of $160.00 for 2 people I was expecting much more. I've spent less on average in the past for much more food. This may be simply due to capacity, table turnover and location, but I stick to my statement none the less.

Overall a great place to go, given its Hobart, but a little pricey for what you get.

I just had the yum cha there, however I am disappointed with the food. It is not comparable with the quality in Sydney.

I would say people like me with high standard on food do not take the chance to try the food there.

Personally, I would not come back again.

Service here is exceptional. Staff were most attentive. Decor is nice, starched table cloths, tasteful tableware. Good menu, rather expensive for the amount of food portions. So not your average Chinese Restaurant, more of a special occasion.

Dining at Me Wah was an experience like no other. Think fine dining and Chinese cuisine perfectly fused together. Dishes were immaculately presented with utmost attention to detail such as providing you napkins, the correct utensils and the best way of eating it.

Not genuine Cantonese food. I have traveled to Hong Kong for two times and enjoyed genuine Cantonese cuisine. The food in Yum Cha was too salty, which made me drink much water after came home. I don’t like the way they deliver the Yum Cha to every table and introduce each dishes, because I think it may pass the droplets onto the dishes.

I can pay for higher price if I could enjoy the genuine Cantonese food in Hobart.

Amazing food and service, our favourite special occasion meal is Sunday yum cha here at Me Wah. We love it!

A group of four of us booked this fabulous restaurant on our final night of Dark Mofo. It’s a ‘special occasion’ restaurant, with silver service and impeccable hospitality. The food was the best Chinese I have ever eaten. We started with an innovative spinach soup served with crab, duck pancakes, lobster and prawn dumplings and superb scallops in the shell. Main course consisted of fabulous salt and pepper squid, veggies, a fish dish recommended by the waiter, and the best ‘numbing chicken’ I have ever tried. The flavors were layered, with a chilli sauce broth, and a creamy sesame paste. If you eat here, you absolutely need to try this dish, it will live on in my foodie memories for a very long time. We shared three deserts - the peanut crumble one consisted of a chocolate lid with a sweet liquid poured onto it - a spectacle! The waiters were pushing a trolley around with a range of aged whiskies, and a huge variety of post desert drinks. Yes, it’s pricey, but well worth the money. If you want to impress someone, then this is THE restaurant in Hobart to come to. Thank you to the marvellous waiting staff and innovative chefs for a spectacular end to our holiday ️️️

My mother and I had an incredible experience! All the food was delicious, the service provided was top notch. The hospitality provided was so amazing, I definitely recommend anyone to come to this restaurant, you will receive such a high level of hospitality as well as the food is so delicious. Such an amazing experience. Thank you to all the waiters and staff that made our night so enjoyable.

Whilst we all take marvellous photos of food, I’m only putting up one. Walk through the front door for an amazing evening of service, perfectly paced meals and some of the best Asian food I’ve had in a long time. Big fans looking forward to coming back.

Szechwan Beef was very tender and the lemon chicken was moist and delicious. Rice was also on par. The deep fried dimmies were a winner!

Horrible experience! Seriously. Came from sydney. Had a dinner for 9-10 people with my family. We booked from far away days ago for sets menu. We have to wait for 1 hour for our first food (appetizer), another half and hour until 1 hour for each dish, wich is i total we have to spend hour 4 hours just to have dinner which is before the main menu come, we already lost our appetite. Last but not least, the tea being serve so pale colour and just taste water, so i try to do something like maybe pump the tea pot, and the Waiter being so rude. We spend more than $1000 for our dinner with bad experience. Thankyou
Ps: appetizer was good, but maybe because we was starving.
The rest just normal.

The new staff are very good.
Listen to the customers and understand what we really need.
This is the great service.
