Mary Mary reviews
28 We were having a before dinner drink at the bar at Mary Mary last night before heading next door to Peppina for our dinner reservation.
We were advised by staff we could take our drinks next door but would be required to pay before doing so.
I attended to the payment of our drinks and we headed next door with drinks in hand.
We had barely made it through the door before abruptly being approached by a staff member from Mary Mary who proceeded to tell us we needed to come back and pay for our drinks. I advised we had already paid and had the receipt. The staff member didn't wish to see the receipt and instead advised that she would go and check and come back.
The staff member never returned. We were very embarrassed to be pulled up infront of other patrons and very disappointed the staff member did not return to apologise for the accusation.
The design and atmosphere are top notch. There are more than 15 kinds of gin alone. The space design is great, and the waiters' uniforms and people are very tasteful. It's very convenient to go downstairs for a drink while staying here.
Great little hideaway cocktail bar. Amazing atmosphere with service to match. Didn't try the food sorry, next time.
6 of us were refused on entry by the lady bartender just because we have a 3 months old baby
Came in when I was 6 months pregnant with my friends, the food and the drinks were good so I decided to visit again today with my family and friends and my 4-month old baby.
After asking how many of us and try to arrange a table, she came to ask someone from the bar and said that they cannot take us because the baby is under 18…
Tbh, I have been to a few cocktail bars in Hobart before Mary mary with our baby and never been in the same situation. It was really disappointed, while just cross the road there is a cocktail bar with absolutely amazing food and cocktail that BABY FRIENDLY, Institut Polaire.
So if you guys try to come in for some treat with a baby, good luck!
What a great cocktail bar in the heart of Hobart, this little gem is tucked away and the staff are amazing and skilled at what they do! Highly recommended
Cozy and comfortable, nice atmosphere, nice waiters and waitresses, nice drinks. It’s not noisy there, and it’s a perfect place for talking with friends. Only the little red sofas are too short and small to sit.
It’s a nice looking bar, good ambiance and drinks variety. However, after noticing that their food menu was a short version of the restaurant next door, I asked if I could have on a of the entrées from the restaurant next door that wasn’t on their menu, the hostess who appeared to be from Vietnamese background immediately replied this wouldn’t be possible. I truly don’t understand the point, for a 5 star hotel bar, not being able to serve an entree from their restaurant to one of their guests it’s simply ridiculous, The bar and restaurant share the same kitchen and a simply request like this one seems to be impossible and a hard no on a guest. Embarrassing and poor service, specially from the hostess who showed ZERO care for guests.
My family we’re enjoying our last night together for a reunion in Hobart. We walked into the Mary Mary bar for one final soujourn. Collectively we agree, never have we received such an icy bitter reception upon arrival. The man who served us “Andrew” had an extremely bad attitude. The sad thing is, our experience of Hobart to date had been nothing but wonderful…. Lovely friendly people.
I can only suggest that Andrew should venture more into the tech industry where he dosen’t have to deal directly with people
This place is wild! Great cocktail bar with amazing service and ambience and the cocktails are one of the best I've had! Must visit if you're visiting Hobart.
Very nice little bar to enjoy a unique & local whiskey/rum/gin/cocktail etc. Also serves light meals/snacks. Great service
Loved it. Quiet in intimate. Great atmosphere. Drinks selection was good and the staff were really helpful.
Interesting experience on Friday night staff member that served us was either very quirky or in psychosis. Either way the cocktails were very tasty and boozy and the Christmas music wasn't too cringe just a nice vibe
Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere. Well worth checking out this bar. Great range of drinks.
With the recommendation of my friends, I went to Mary Mary in 2a Salamanca Pl with my family. The store, as its name suggests, has a very good environment. Later, I took my children to the tree related services of BRYAN 'S TREE SERVICE, where they learned a lot about environmental protection.
We were charged Sunday rates on our bill but the bar had given zero indication (no signs, no staff letting us know) that this would be the case.
Sat at the bar for a quick drink, there's a really chill vibe here. Really wanted to try some local Tasmanian gin. The staff were really knowledgable and gave great recommendations. The dirty martini with the Forty Spotted Gin was one of the best i've had!
Why can every other bar/resturant in Hobart allow separate payment of a tab but this place
can't. We had to have a single person pay the entire bill then all transfer our spend to their bank account. What a joke.
This place has heaps of potential and I can imagine it would be a great bar on the weekend. We unfortunately went on a Monday evening (bonus points for even being open on a Monday? !) and it was absolutely dead quiet which made it a bit awkward. We had a really, really lovely wine here though but chose not to stay any longer due to how quiet it was. The fit out is stylish and comfortable. Staff are really friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. Would love to go back on a weekend!
Great little bar, close to Salamanca and right next door to Peppina. A great place to have a drink and meet friends before dinner or just to hang.
