Mako Seafood reviews
67 Oysters were great, chips OK, fish not really good. Unfortunately, fish tasted like cardboard, not sure it a matter of species or chief had a break and someone else took the lead.
Service is mediocre.
Whole place is located on a boat - you shouldn’t expect much.
Their seafood platter is generous and affordable. Fish and chips are really good. The batter is not too thick, taste is great.
Great relaxing place for lunch!
We stopped by here recently and ordered the Prawns with Chips plus two Prawn and Scallop Skewers to share. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and were also reasonably priced!
The staff were really friendly and casual (which was refreshing) and the vibe was extremely chilled being aboard this restaurant on the water.
Would definitely stop by again next time we’re in Hobart!
I waited 50 minutes for Fish& Chips, during this time 7 meals were served. Unbelievable for a restaurant that only offers fried food^^ Staff not really sorry about that.
Chips were too much fried and not fried enough at the same time (guess some of them were fried twice), fish was ok. Horrible experience, don't go there!
Great seafood experience! We had the fish platter and a calamari with chips. Everything was super fresh and battered on the spot before frying. The salad and coleslaw were surprisingly very good as well!
Quaint little Takeaway on the water in the heart of Hobart. Great value for money, terrific taste. I look forward to coming back again
Big fan of seafood, love their fish & chips, oysters, especially the scallops - soft and bouncy, and their homemade tartare sauce. The portion size was good, always enough as a big lunch, the fish platter was a good choice to share with my partner. Staff members were friendly and hard working:)
Portion size was good, the fish was average and the other sea food (prawns, calamari, etc.) didn’t taste fresh. In my opinion there are better options very close by.
Love the fish and chips! My favourite.
Also, staff is super friendly and the environment is very nice on board!
Best value and quality seafood we’ve had in Hobart!
Cozy and cute. Ordered grilled scallop and prawn skewers and cod, battered blue eye, oysters, garden salad and Tasmanian pear juice— Goodbye Mures…
We grew up eating crayfish regularly. Now I can buy one every few years. Today, great service by young man of Asian heritage. Just delicious fresh crayfish, so so nice. A very special meal in many ways. Thanks.
The best fish and chips i have eaten so far, as well as best value one.i had fish feast for lunch and 6 oysters and mini fish basket for dinnee next day. Oysters were fresh! Fish was flaky, batter was not heavy.crumbled scallops, prawn and callamari that come in the fish basket/ feast were yum too.
Food was ok but not a really good experience there.
The chef was angry, and closed the fridge really hard. It was scary.
The staff spilled the drink to my jacket when cleaning table. I can understand it was busy.
But seem like they need more staff for help.
The Fish Feast with a few extra prawns and calamari.
A magnificent helping for a hungry couple.
We couldn’t finish the chips (which were also delic’).
Brilliant service (Takeaway), sensational food.
Terrible food. Staffed by kids with attitude. Place was dirty and depressing. Order incorrect with no apology for the mishap. Had been here a few years ago and it was decent, but not now. Took a couple of bites and binned it.
Mako seafood, fantastic food but cleanliness needs improvement.
Went for dinner on 9.12, around 8pm. The staff were friendly and accommodating while we selected dinner. We were the last in the shop and the staff gave us some free extras as they were closing within the hour. The food was fresh, nice fish, the scollops were a stand out as well as the prawns. Salad was made fresh to our order.
The only complaint is cleanliness. The venue was dirty with rubbish under tables, and lots of greasy finger prints in the windows. All by children, and I understand the difficulty but it was quite bad.
Fish was terrible, skin on and dry and chips flavourless. Not recommended at all. Cool little cafe on the water though
Best fish and chips at the constitution dock, freshest fish and nicest staff members. My only go place for fish.
Ordered scallops and chips. So called scallops were probably another type of processed seafood. Very disappointing and tasteless. Didn't finish chips as per usual. $16.
Good fish nice location, and as always unsupervised kids running it. No uniform, not enough experienced, definitely not fast. They do their best, definitely not their fault
