Little Musselroe Bay reviews
4Sheltered campsites, accessible by 2wd. Doesn't suit long rigs - we're 9m long and access was fine.
We had an absolute ball. There were 9 adults and 6 children ranging from 6 - 14 and everyone was impressed with how beautiful the area is. We will be making Little Mussleroe a regular getaway destination.
Beautifully peaceful camp ground. Open from December until Easter only. About 15 sites suitable for tents or small trailers. No water or firewood so bring your own. There is a 'long drop' his and hers toilet. No generators allowed. Situated on the shores of the lagoon, the bird watching is great, with gulls, terns, cranes, pelicans etc. No dogs allowed as this is a sensitive bird breeding area, and some of the outer beach is fenced off to protect bird nesting areas. There is a clean modern visitor centre for the wind farm just before you get to the camp ground with two proper toilets and sinks open 9-5 Mon to Fri and 10-4 weekends. There is a boat ramp about two minutes down the road and Cape Portland beach is just another minute past that. A stunning and isolated part of Tasmania, however the nearby town of Gladstone has petrol, water and groceries.
The beach is amazing and the camping ground by the lagoon is a great spot, you can have a fire and its free camping.
