Lake St Clair Visitor Centre reviews
45Good facilities at the Lake and here the tracks are well marked and maintained. As you get further out in longer hikes the markers, at times are hard to see, seem to be good signs at junctions which helps.
Thw walks are amazing there are few small walks for an hour. We were in rush to head Strahan so we had 2 walks which are amazingly beautiful. Highly recommend it
Probably the most boring bushwalks in Tassie. Nothing special.it's just a lake that looks like every other lake
Spectacular place.
I wish I had more time to explore the area.
We only called in for a meal and wish we stayed longer. I'll be back
Thae area is terrific.the camping area is too small and muddy.ling way to ablutions. Wouldn't eat or drink at the lodge the service attitude was terrible.
There's a charge for national park access if you are doing one of the walks, however no charge if just stopping for lunch at the restaurant. Nice organic coffee and cakes.
We briefly explored this area of Tasmania and really enjoyed the views of the lake. The visitor centre also has some interesting information regarding the history of the area. I recommend stopping here.
The lake is the deepest fresh water lake in Australia.
Lake St Clair or leeawulenna is a natural freshwater lake located in the Central Highlands area of Tasmania, Australia. The lake forms the southern end of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park
Fishing and swimming is allowed in the lake.
It offers clear blue water, lots of shallow area and no weeds.
This place is busy with Hikers, walkers coming from 6day walk in Cradle mountain, end journey on this side, Many souvenir items take with you a Restaurant next to this Info place
A marvellous centre with helpful staff, and numerous great walks nearby through fantastic natural beauty.
The Lake St Clair Visitor Centre is at the southern end of the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park. It has hikes as do the other parks and of course the lake, however so do several other National Parks in Tasmania and personally I wasn't impressed with this section of the park. I much preferred both the Mt Field and Cradle Mountain National Parks. They both had great walks through much nicer landscapes. They both also had snow when we were there which was great, but did limit the walks we got to do in particular at Cradle Mountain. If you had to choose I would put this park down the list.
So clean and tidy with lots of info, do the lake guided tour as it was fabulous and so interesting.
Love parks and wildlife visitor centre. Very informative and with plenty of history. But I don't recommend the Cafe/Restaurant that is attached to it though. It's over priced and the food is terrible.
One of the final stops of the Overland Track.
You're greeted with a woodfire heater and restaurant, serving a simplified pub menu.
A wonderful space to dry off whilst waiting for any connecting shuttle buses.
There's a leaders board of the top placed trail runners who smash out the track 8 or so hours. Ridiculous.
The actual Visitor Centre has a brief history of the track and various tales of it's inception.
I arrived around 3pm and wanted to do a walk but the lady advised that the park pass would be $40 and probably not worthwhile as I wouldn't have time to use the pass anywhere else as I had other plans.she suggested that I could walk down to the jetty and beach which was nice, but not to take too long because apparently they look for the passes on your car dashboard.
Excellent interactive displays including a kids corner. Almost made the mistake of skipping the visitors centre by.
Plenty of information for day visitors and multi-day hikers
The visitor centre is pretty good with a serviced info counter. Plenty of info on the surrounding national park.
Big place with lots of people considering how out the way it is
Unfortunately l ran the sub tank dry and my troop konked out right out front of the main entry also so my time there was to get my troop going again
A friendly ranger helped keep me sane while l fixed the airlock and went to main tank.also my dog wasn't allowed in a national Park so l didn't get a sneek peek.
All good got her going and split
There is a walking trail here all the way to cradle mountain.big thanks to the ranger guy for being cool and didn't make me feel like an idiot.
You can get all the information about lake st Clair national park…. Has a cafe restaurant…short walk to lake and mountains views
A nice space and great surrounding trails. Recommend walking to Riversmeet and the cultural trail. Nice coffee at visitors centre, albeit a little expensive. The information centre was great with helpful rangers to assist with any questions.
